This thing was a LIFE SAVER during my maternity leave! My son started sleeping through the night pretty early on (by 4 weeks), so by the time he would wake up at 5:30am for his first feeding I was SO swollen and full that he would only take one side. This stressed me out so much because I couldn't just leave the other side still full...so I would either be crying trying to get him to wake up to eat the other side, or have to hook up the electric breast pump (which I HATED because there were so many parts to clean, and that would be an extra 20 minutes before I could go back to sleep). The Haakaa saved me for 2 reasons 1) I needed to start a freezer stash for when I returned back to work at 8 weeks and this allowed me to do so without having to pump (the pediatrician suggested pumping AFTER his feedings to build my supply....who has time for that?!?! I would have been literally a milking cow the entire day). 2) It's literally effortless with zero pain and only ONE part that cleaned easily. I stumbled across this on a blog by accident when I was trying to figure out how to build my freezer stash before returning to work without losing my mind and I will never be more thankful for a product. I would use this for the first 2 feeding of the morning (since you're fullest in the morning) and would have 4-6oz a day to put away in the freezer. All you have to do is squeeze the base, put on breast you aren't feeding from and release base to get it to suction to your boob. The suction holds it in place. Then have your baby feed from the other side and it will trigger your let down on the side the Haakaa is suctioned to!!!!!!! Only negatives (but not bad enough to not warrant this a 5 star product) is that if you don't pay attention, it can lose suction and come off (I just kept an eye on it and whenever it started to lose suction I would give it another squeeze to reestablish suction). Second is that is does not fully drain you like an electric pump would, but is enough to relieve you so you can go back to sleep (or for the second morning feeding, my son was usually awake enough that I would let him feed on that side after I used the Haakaa).     • Love but wish I got larger size!
This little pump is great! I got it because I was going to a wedding and wanted an easy, portable way to pump in the car or bathroom that didn't require electricity. This fit the bill! I wouldn't bother with it for regular pumping multiple times a day, and it certainly can't replace an electric pump in terms of how well an electric pump will "drain" the breasts. However, it's GREAT for when you're engorged and want to express for comfort and build a small freezer stash at the same time! It's also SO MUCH EASIER to clean this little pump than to lug out and clean all the parts to an electric pump. My baby usually only feeds from one side at a time, so I tend to use this in the morning when I'm engorged. Depending on how I position the baby, I use this on one side while he's feeding on the other, or I use it right after he eats. I've even used this while doing my makeup or working on my computer. As long as you are careful not to knock it off and to pay attention to the suction--it may need another squeeze to increase suction every few minutes--it stays put without holding it! My only regret is that I didn't get the bigger size. I don't really care so much about the added suction cup on the bottom--I place the pump inside of a sturdy coffee cup instead of placing it directly on a table because I'm afraid I might accidentally knock it over, so the coffee cup takes the place of the suction cup for me. I wish I got the larger size because this one only holds about 3.5 ounces. The ounces labeled on the side are completely inaccurate. The 4 oz line is only actually 3 oz. I can fit ALMOST 4 oz if I fill it all the way up to about the middle of the neck of the pump, but that's tricky to do because when you squeeze for suction, the liquid already in the pump almost spills out. So, the inaccurate ounce labeling and the small quantity this actually holds are a bummer, but the convenience and ease of use make up for it! ... show more

Great to use while pumping one side. I struggle to use it while nursing since my little one kicks it off. But it helps catch my let down. I feel like I get better milk production when using this
