This thing was a LIFE SAVER during my maternity leave! My son started sleeping through the night pretty early on (by 4 weeks), so by the time he would wake up at 5:30am for his first feeding I was SO swollen and full that he would only take one side. This stressed me out so much because I couldn't just leave the other side still full...so I would either be crying trying to get him to wake up to eat the other side, or have to hook up the electric breast pump (which I HATED because there were so many parts to clean, and that would be an extra 20 minutes before I could go back to sleep). The Haakaa saved me for 2 reasons 1) I needed to start a freezer stash for when I returned back to work at 8 weeks and this allowed me to do so without having to pump (the pediatrician suggested pumping AFTER his feedings to build my supply....who has time for that?!?! I would have been literally a milking cow the entire day). 2) It's literally effortless with zero pain and only ONE part that cleaned easily. I stumbled across this on a blog by accident when I was trying to figure out how to build my freezer stash before returning to work without losing my mind and I will never be more thankful for a product. I would use this for the first 2 feeding of the morning (since you're fullest in the morning) and would have 4-6oz a day to put away in the freezer. All you have to do is squeeze the base, put on breast you aren't feeding from and release base to get it to suction to your boob. The suction holds it in place. Then have your baby feed from the other side and it will trigger your let down on the side the Haakaa is suctioned to!!!!!!! Only negatives (but not bad enough to not warrant this a 5 star product) is that if you don't pay attention, it can lose suction and come off (I just kept an eye on it and whenever it started to lose suction I would give it another squeeze to reestablish suction). Second is that is does not fully drain you like an electric pump would, but is enough to relieve you so you can go back to sleep (or for the second morning feeding, my son was usually awake enough that I would let him feed on that side after I used the Haakaa). Surprisingly decent for something so simple- great for slightly increasing breast size and starting re-lactation efforts. This device was recommended for that. I will say it's designed for larger breasts so not A and B cups or smaller areolas but you can tweek it and fold the flange to decrease the size. I use it every 3 hours for 5 mins it's very helpful. To the struggling breastfeeding mom... this is it!!! I have used every trick in the book to increase my milk supply. I'm talking teas, cookies, pills, herbal drops, shakes, more water, more calories, more breastfeeding friendly foods...you name it. And this worked to increase my milk literally overnight. And now, day 3, my breasts are heavier and full of milk. I pump milk twice a day and that did the trick. I was so sad that my baby boy was fussy at feeding times because I wasn't producing a lot of milk. I also tried formula but he didn't like it and wouldn't drink it. So I knew it was on me to quickly figure out a way to increase my milk supply. But each day it was increasing! The suction can be adjusted to very strong or a softer suction. I also love that it's one unit that's easy to clean and store. I prefer to wash mine with soap, sterilize it in a sanitizing bag for breast pump parts and store it in a cup next to my bed. No more cords from breastpumps and washing what feels like a hundred pieces. I'm not saying I'll never use an electric pump again but for the season I'm in now with my newborn and feeling exhausted... this is the easiest route until he's able to be more independent (crawling and playing). Then I will incorporate my electric pump again. On a last note: I do believe my milk supply was low due to my son's soft latch. He never latched on as strong as my daughters did. And I believe that's why my milk was super low despite trying almost everything to increase it. The super strong suction, on my Haakaa, helped my body produce more milk - fast! ... show more

    • A must have breast pump for all breastfeeding moms!
This has been fantastic! While automatic breast pumps hurt over time, this doesn’t hurt at all and has increased my milk supply substantially, helping me to have enough for my baby. So simple to use and simple to wash, and gently increases your milk supply.
