This is a large Vise for a drill press it works well though. It also has the ability to tighten up the slides so that there is not any slack or play. the only draw back is that it did not come with any mounting hardware and was packed in not so great packing.

6" cross slide makes this very useful as a drill press vice. I've used it to punch groupings of holes in 3/8" wall 3"x1 1/2" square steel tube with no problems. Makes short work of aligning and then repositioning without having to reclamp for each position. The photo makes it look precision ground, it's not. The build quality is what you would expect from "made in China" not great but good enough. It's usable right of the box, but I tore mine apart and cleaned up the flashing, scraped off the dried up used motor oil masquerading as grease, flattened out the bearing surfaces and tightened up the stays. A bunch of work to get a bit of the slop out of it. Was it worth it? Meh, maybe. As a bench press vice, yes. Sturdy, big enough to be useful for most operations, convenient. For milling, especially on metal I think you're going to be disappointed if you need precision results. Hard to beat for $120. Wish I had gotten one years ago. ... show more

    • The X and Y movement is not very smooth even with the gib strip adjusted properly.

It arrived with two screws stripped that hold the bottom adjusting screw in place and one gib strip bent in a wavey fashion. I had to re-tap the screw holes to the next larger size and hammer out the gib strip.

So heavy duty, and it comes already lubed and read to rock. I removed the plates and dipped em in liquid rubber, to protect the finish on the items that I have clamped down

What I like: the price. That's about it. What I dislike: The castings are very rough and pitted in some areas, especially on corners. The set screw on the collars are stripped and allow quite a bit of movement with no way to tighten up, about 0.1" on both X and Y. I was going to shim them, but since the screws are stripped, I have no way of taking it apart. The ways aren't parallel. So when you tighten the little set screws, which just push on a piece of bar stock, it's too loose at one end of travel and too tight at the other end of travel. The mating surfaces are painted and very rough. I sanded them down and made the as parallel as I could but they are very rough from the factory. The hardware was loose and mismatched. Mounting points are too narrow for standard 1/2" hardware. Probably have to look into getting 10mm metric t slot nuts if thats how you want to mount it. Casting is very, very soft. It took me no time at all to sand the ways down to make them parallel. ... show more

The vise was just the right size for my drill press. The best thing I like about it is the availability to move your project in both directions to long it up on the press. It’s easy to turn the handles and move it both directions. Great product.

    • Almost good enough to mill with.

Pros: it has 6 tension screws you can adjust to remove a lot of sloppy movement. This product works great for drilling holes. Cons: the x and y axis cranks are only fastened to one side and float on the other. There isn't any way to tighten them up so any vibrations from milling cause x and y cranks to move if your not holding them. It doesnt work well for milling unless you have three hands for the operation. I needed my son to help operate the drill so I could keep my hands on the vice handles while milling. ... show more
