UPDATE: I didn't look for my previous post so here is an update. I was pleasantly surprised when I was contacted quickly. They apologized for the the product and issued a refund. After speaking to the young lady I realized some things occur that can affect the product. I changed my rating to give based on how it was handled. I will purchase the product again because even companies deserve a second chance. Thank you for caring and making things right. This is horrible. The package was undamaged. The actual problem is it has no odor what do ever, it's like a syrup. If you want a drop you have to shake it hard. While my experience may not be the same as others I can't recommend this product. It’s the kind of patchouli that has the deepest earthy smell. People either love this stuff or hate it. When I find this heavier scent , I usually pair it off with something else to temper it. You’d be surprised how much this changes how people perceive it. Most people don’t realize that patchouli is often found in the most expensive and beloved perfumes of the world. I mixed mine with neroli, but I believe tangerine and other citrus oils are often as complementary. Combining a patchouli like this with rose, vanilla, lavender, sandalwood, black pepper and/or leather will make a scent you can customize for yourself. I really love amber Patchouli with Ive found in little herb stores in CA. That said, Amazon rarely disappoints when it comes to any oil and it’s so easy (not to mention less expensive) to find something you live here. Like I said, this one is a little heavy, so it’s meant to be blended in my opinion. They ask how long it lingers. That’s a funny thing about Patchouli. You tend to not smell it after awhile. First of all be careful how you open the box, it is well taped shut. If you want to return it, save the box! But opening it was difficult without a razor to ensure box integrity. The patchouli, while we all know it smells a bit like earth-it also has a little piquant, or kick to the nose after the first sniff. Patchouli is a difficult smell to describe. But be careful how much you wear, cuz it can be offensive to others. With the first sniff, it just wasn't the old patchouli or "hippie" patchouli, I call it. This just didn't smell like it used to. But I don't think that's an over synopsis, you might really like it! The cost is minimal, so it's not going to break your wallet by buying it. I mix patchouli w/ some of my sweeter more floral colognes. I spray the sweeter/floral cologne, and follow it up with a couple dabs of patchouli.
