Previously I used florescent 'soft box' style lights for both photography and videography. They worked well, but where way too big to leave set up all the time and took seemingly eons to assemble so I often just used available light, often not the best choice, or skipped filming altogether. For better or ill the nature of my business has shifted some, drastically increasing the amount of videos I'm going to need to produce. That lead to me looking around for a lighting solution that didn't take as much space and were quick and easy to set up. Enter GVM. I bought one of their two-light sets and so far have been absolutely thrilled by the results. The lights are incredibly bright and versatile -- I'm no longer limited to one colour temp, are super-fast to set up, and the option to use batteries and the portability that brings means I have options I'd not even considered previously. Not all is heaven, of course. The phone app leads a little bit to be desired. First it is a bit of a pain to get it installed, at least on Android, isn't clear about how to get it running (you have to connect to a wifi signal the lights put out), and once you do it can be a bit fiddly and sometimes throws Chinese at you. It works well enough once you get things figured out, but it could be a bit better. That's a minor quibble, though, overall the quality, performance, and ease-of-setup and use of these lights makes them a must buy for anyone trying to do professional or semi-professional photography or videography. Highly recommended. I'm impressed enough with GVM that I've already bought another of their lights (an on-camera) and have plans to pick up more as my video needs increase over the next year.

My step daughter has decided to enter the e-commerce business. She wants to start marketing ladies lingerie, nighties, PJ's and such. She is lining up some models and I'm helping her set up her studio for pictures and videos. I saw this set of studio lights and figured, why not? I am so glad that I did. I don't think I could have gotten a better deal. These lights are as professional as they get. I am super impressed with the lights themselves. They have great physical controls, where you can adjust the hue from sunset to bright white and the intensity from soft and warm to blinding bright. There is a white diffuser panel that can be removed with ease, to increase the intensity even more. With the digital readout, you can adjust the lights precisely and consistently. the stands can elevate the lights to a full EIGHT FEET. The visors are large enough that you can focus the light nearly any way you want. The whole set comes very well packaged and with a very nice carrying case. Each lamp and each stand has it's own inner protective velvet drawstring bag. The carrying case is compartmentalized to protect the contents. The phone app for the controls work very well with Android phones. It lets you be in front of the lights and seeing the hue and brightness, while you're adjusting them. The lights have receptacles on the back for proprietary Lithium batteries (not included). They use a Sony NP-F990 type, with plenty of aftermarket types available. So, if you planned on doing some outdoor shots, you wouldn't have to worry about power. I am very impressed with the quality of these photography / videography studio lights. I highly recommend them. Five stars.

I love these lights and this company! They make such high quality products and this one is no exception! The easy to install app is so user friendly and simple to navigate on my smart phone with just a quick download from the Google play store. The 560a is a professional LED Panel video lighting kit with a thin aviation aluminum body that is super light and simple to use without sacrificing quality. The high quality LED bulbs can be used for hours on end with no over heating or wear down. Professional photographer and videographer for the last 20 years. I bumped up a little from the other cheaper versions for the purpose of getting more LEDs. The stands are a little light (good if you're carrying them around a lot) not good for areas where people are moving around. Product is packed well, and in its own carrying case which is padded. Products come in little tie-string velvet bags, which are cool. The lights are a combo of white-light and orange light. Basically every other bar goes orange or white creating the effect of sunlight. Lights are bright, built well, and the dials are easy to use. ONE COMPLAINT: it's very...very annoying attempting to open the barn doors of the fixture. They close literally together with no spacing between the light and the door. The hinge is tight, and with nowhere to put your finger, you might break a nail just trying to open the dang thing. Easily solved by notching it out with a dremel. However, manufacturing should update with a little lifted area to accommodate this. Overall, a good light set for a decent price. I've already used them for documentary filming, and they work great.

I have a few GVM lights and have been pleased with their functionality so I decided to jump on these, as they are upgraded with more lights and, as it turns out, some really great features. First off, more LED's! The lights are really nice, and provide great uniform lighting. The app is a great way to connect and control the lights - and setting them up as a pair is simple and saves a ton of time. One of the biggest upgrades over the last set I purchased is that this model remembers your settings after power off - a huge plus! (I may buy a few more even and use the others for video setups). The tripods are sturdy and the case and protective inner cases are awesome. If you don't want to use your smartphone and app, the controls are simple and versatile. I have used these indoors and out - they perform like champs and are an amazing value - I would definitely buy more, and will likely do so soon! :)

I bought a set of 2x 560-AS and I really love them! Great value for the money! It came with stands which are pretty lightweight, but they can hold the lights no problem. Also came with barn doors, diffuser, and AC cords. I like that the lights go from 2,300-6,800k. I shot the attached video with the Sony A6500 on Slog-3. Camera was on GVM 80-QD Slider and I used both 560-AS. One for key light, the other as background 6,800K for color contrast and mood. Good: Sturdy Build Bright Lights Great CRI Barn Doors are nice Desired Improvements: The app can only connect to one light at a time. To switch to the other, you need to change your WIFI network. The lights are a little harsh even with the included diffuser, but they are still worth it. Knob for CT and Brightness are a bit loose and sometimes scroll a bit past what I want. Just turn it back the other way until you get it right. Conclusion: Great lights for the money! Highly Recommend!
