As a content creator and photographer, lighting is one of the most important aspects of getting good results. Over time I have acquired an assortment of about 20 different LED lights. Of them all my favorite "type" is the low profile, edge lit, battery powered LED panels. The issue I have with the others I own is output. Either they can not get bright enough for a large scene, or sometimes I actually have an issue where they can not get dim enough without over powering the scene I am trying to set up. This is what I would consider my first "PRO" quality light, as apparent by the fact its labeled as pro, but also other other things like the Pelican style hard case, DMX control, and of course the OUTPUT. This one light will easily put out as much light as the other 4 I have with a similar design, it has a much much higher build quality. So it has now become my favorite light for sure, and it allows me to do some new things that I could not do before. The only warnings I would give, this much power needs a fan, when it is on you can hear the fan if you are close to it. So if your someone who needs a silent setup, this is not it. However I do not hear the fan on any microphones, only if I am in a quiet room and no other sound is happening. Second is this lights design is both it's biggest strength and also its biggest weakness. The "edge lit" LED design gives a WONDERFUL light diffusion, so you can get soft light without the need for a huge modifier. In my small studio space, this is why these kind of lights are my favorite. However that also means, this thing fills a room with light, unlike a COB light, or the more direct LED lights that are more focused this is a big wide spread. You can at least buy barn doors and a honeycomb filter to add to it to change the light pattern and control it more, again another feature my other lights do not have, but a fair warning for someone looking to add a spot of color to a scene and then suddenly the entire scene is now lighting up with this light.

I wish I could use this light considering how wonderfully bright it is and its Very high CRI but two major issues. 1. The specs state the product size was 14.17 x 14.17 inches. Please update your specs and provide exact dimensions for customers. If you see the uploaded images I provided, they are actually 11 x 10.5 inches. I needed them for a project with a very specific large direct light requirement and this couldn't be used for the project because it was too small. 2. I followed the directions multiple times and did many resets on my phone and product's bluetooth but it refuses to connect to their app via Bluetooth for app control or be seen by any Bluetooth devices. If you see the app store reviews there are some people with similar issues. Maybe the one I got is just a bad one? QA issue?

These are great multi-purpose utility lights for photography, video shoots, podcasting, visual effects production or other studio work in small spaces if a little fan noise is not going to be a problem. They are extremely bright even with fully saturated colors, and controls on the back and the remote app make it easy to set up exactly the color, saturation and brightness level needed. Color range and rendition is excellent. Neither the preset modes simulating various light sources (just presets for different white light color temperatures) nor the "effects" modes (flashing red/blue police lights, cheesy candle flicker, etc) seem especially useful on a professional product. The downloadable app, which contains advertising, was able to find the product and control it wirelessly with no problems, and can be used to control basic features and color adjustments. This review was updated after GVM added a DMX channel list pdf document for this product to their website. It may not be included in the packaging so you'll need to download it to set up lighting control via DMX. The product description incorrectly states (both on Amazon and on the manufacturer's own website, as of March 2023) that there are 3-pin XLR connectors for connection to a DMX controller system. In fact, the light only has a pair of RJ45 connectors for DMX, which you can see in the product photos. If you are running a 3-pin or 5-pin DMX system, you will need at least one DMX RJ45 to 3-pin or 5-pin convertor and an RJ45 ethernet cable, available elsewhere on Amazon. Double check pinouts on whatever converter you use; this unit uses the DMX512 wiring standard. The unit responds correctly to DMX control on our 3-pin XLR setup using a converter. The kit includes a hard case that looks like a Pelican case - not as well made, definitely not waterproof but better than a soft bag. A y-adaptor cable for the battery power port is included, for attaching two v-mount batteries. A white diffuser accessory panel also is included, but doesn't do much as the unit already has a permanent white diffuser panel in place. Adding the additional one just reduces the light output somewhat. A basic set of plastic barn doors would have been nice to include, instead. If you need something with more brightness than ordinary less expensive W/RGB LED panels offer, that can be remotely setup and controlled via a phone app or DMX, these are a good upgrade before taking the plunge into much more expensive solutions.
