I use cotton thread in piecing cotton fabrics, and sometimes when quilting, particularly if the item will be used as a hot pad or heat-resistant table runner, when synthetic threads might melt. I have found Gutermann cotton threads to be consistently strong, and produce a minimal amount of lint, even with high-speed stitching. Ive gotten the sunset yellow color which was like silk… thought I’d get the black thinking it would feel the same… but it breaks easily and frays… knots a lot. But I’ll use it… hope my quilt holds up

Black thread is always sketchy and often breaks if you don't buy a quality brand. I have never been disappointed with Gutermann. It doesn't break or shred.
