The quality wasn't what I expected--some of the blocks needed sanded. But if you like open-ended toys, you will probably enjoy these. I thought maybe I made a mistake in purchasing these as they are so simple, but the second day we had these my 6 year old got out his rock and mineral collection and these blocks.     • “Block” is a bit misleading
Using the term “block” for these is very misleading. I had the impression that they would be self-containing, so you could actually display nature finds in them, but there is no back!     • Shockingly low quality
We have a number of other guidecraft blocks so expectations were high for the magnifying set. They're terrible. Noticeable and persistent chemical smell when they came out of the box, and the "lens"... Oof. Flimsy plastic that didn't sit securely in the wood frame, and wasn't actually clear. The center of the "lens" was actually placed randomly somewhere in the frame (never anywhere near the center!) - basically you couldn't see anything meaningful through any of them, let alone stack multiple boxes together. ... show more

my 1 year old, 5 year old, and 9 year old love these! we keep them on the window sill and it makes it fun to look through. My 1 year old realized right away that they nest together and practiced this process over and over again. It's fun to see what different types of objects look like through it.

when this product came, one of the boxes was already cracked (the plastic magnification part). i thought i could put things under the box and the item would look magnified, but you need to hold it farther away. my kids liked running around looking through it for a few minutes and haven't picked them up again. it just really wasn't what i was hoping for. ... show more
