The GRR-RIPPER is a well-designed tool made with quality materials. That high extends even to the assembly instructions that are on laminated stock with a thoughtful flip out page of the parts so you can follow along with which part is which without having to flip back through the booklet. Once assembled, the tool does exactly as advertised allowing me to smoothly and safely guide wood through my table saw with improved accuracy and more importantly improved safety over a push stick. The flexibility to adjust the fence guides, extension wings, and the place where the saw blade passes provides a versatility that has be using this tool for almost every cut. Something I wish I had understood better was why there were offers to buy 2 GRR-RIPPERs at the same time. I assumed it was for larger workshops where you would keep one near the table saw and another near the router or planer. Now I understand that the second one is needed to cut stock longer than about 18" so you don't have to lift the one GRR-RIPPER off the stock and leave it unsupported while repositioning it to feed the wood further. The website mentions "Using two GRR-RIPPERs allows you to feed long stock continuously without stopping, virtually eliminating burning and blade marks caused by inconsistent feed rate." Which I read as a nice to have. I now see that it's more of a necessity to keep control of the stock at all times and not have to reach way over the saw blade. So I guess I'm buying another one.

When I was a kid, I saw my grandpa lose half of his thumb to a table saw, that memory came rushing back when I turned on my recently purchased table saw. This push block may feel expensive, but you know what’s even more expensive? Losing a finger. That’s why I recommend it. Beyond safety, here are its strong points: Weight: Not overly heavy, but it has enough heft to maintain pressure without much effort. Grip: Excellent anti-slip surface. Even with some moisture, it holds firmly. Ease of use and adjustment: I expected it to be more complicated, but it’s surprisingly easy to assemble, adjust, and use. Sturdiness: Well-built and solid. It inspires confidence that it won’t fall apart in your hands. Comfy: The ergonomics are great, you don't feel tired or pain even after using it for hours. No regrets, amazing tool.

I initially saw this on a "How to" video. I am not into the newest or most expensive toy. I have made a few push sticks and what have you and made do. I initially looked at this as a gimmick, but the more I looked at it, the more interested I became. This is the single BEST safety item I have purchased. It is spectacular when sawing narrow boards. It has the ability to support/push the workpiece on both sides of the blade. I have also used this on my router. The increased safety and flexibility of this cannot be understated. I had my first serious kickback a few weeks ago. A 12" x 12" x 1/4" sheet of plywood rose up as I was pushing it through. The trailing end caught the blade and spun it back into my upper thigh. This was the single most nerve racking moment in my shop. My young son had just gone inside when this happened. The board bounced off me and off the wall. It opened up my leg a little, even though I was wearing jeans. The potential of serious injury was significant, both to me and my son. I had removed the blade guard because of the types of cuts I was doing on this particular project. The "could of" or "should of" came to mind, but that was 20/20 hindsight. The Gripper 200 advanced makes pushing boards through much safer. This is the only push tool I use. I would give this 6 stars if I could. As I already stated, it can be used on the router table as well. The thing is adjustable which is a plus and minus. I hate having to adjust the thing to make a different cut. It is easy to adjust. Just my pet peeve. It has multiple adjustments to adjust the center support, end piece(s) height. The thing as attachments that I am still trying to figure out what they do. Great purchase. I recommend this to my friends as a priority purchase.

For safety purposes, these are worth $1000s of dollars for me. I need all of my fingers. I am an aspiring amateur wood worker. I am relatively new to wood working, but I love it. Have used this to help cut trim, tile and wood. I am very careful, however being new like me, you can never fully plan for kick backs or certain other events. This adds another layer of safety to ensure you still have all your digits. As far as the design, I am still learning to use this to its fullest. The install is a bit time consuming compared to a regular push block that is good to go out of the box. There are different sized rubber grommets and pieces to install. Overall it is worth it, but don't expect to pull it out of the ups box and go. This product has allowed me to feel more confident using my table and miter saw. Combined with the regular grip block, I can hold/cut more confidently and produce cleaner one pass cuts. I specifically like how it basically shields your hand from the saw. Another feature I like is that I am able to more securely hold the material tight to the fence of my table saw by adjusting the side pieces. last of all, it prevents small cut pieces on my table saw from being flung at me, which could injure me by force, or by the reaction of being hit and placing a body part on the saw in reaction. Great product for the non pro wood worker.

There's no single push block tool for every cutting task. After having this in my wish list for quite a while I decided to order it. There's quite a bit of assembly required. You have to attach the handle and put little rubber o'rings on a bunch of machine screws which act as retainers so the screws don't fall out when you're changing things around. Which brings me to my observation that because a screw driver is needed to swap legs I just don't. This means I'm either misusing it or can't use it for a cut because I can't be bothered with the change over. If I'm doing a number of similar cuts I do, but for a single cut I don't want to spend three minutes changing it over for a 12 second cut. This tool is substantial - solid and wide, which is good. It's well made from high density plastics. Your hand is well distanced from the blade. The wider, sliding center piece is nice and quickly adjusted, so that's never a problem, but I do find that for a good number of my cuts against the fence it's in the way and can't be moved to a place that's not. This is a bit hard to explain and maybe I'll find a way around it, but I wanted to mention it because it backs up my opinion that you won't be able to use this or any other design for every cut. The 1/8" leg sold separately for some reason (why?) is great for narrow rips. It holds the wood stable . A recent conversation with someone smarter than me left me thinking about using a sacrificial push stick for that cuts. Makes a lot of sense, but I hadn't thought of that before. I haven't used the large leveling plate yet so I can't comment on that. The rubber material on the bottom of the legs is pretty decent, but it does sometimes slip, even when brand new and perfectly clean. I find myself wishing this had optional hanging tabs to help pull short pieces through. There are times where it wants to slip and pressing down harder just adds more friction. I've been stuck mid cut with no way to advance a piece! I recently bought the Micro Jig tapering jig. While I haven't used it yet, it looks like one or even two of these integrate nicely with it. I recommend that you look at Micro Jig's other push block style that has the hanging tabs and a flat bottom so you know your options before buying. I have both and use the other on my jointer and router a lot. While you could certainly get by without a fancy push block like this, if you enjoy buying and using cool toys ... I mean tools ... I will say that this is quite well built and can only make your shop safer.

After using the Gripper 200 for just a few cuts you will be convinced this is not just another gimmick to get you to spend your hard earned money on something that will end up in a corner of the shop unused. It is so well thought out and well built for the purpose with the adjustable center leg to allow you to set it up with ease for the best and safest cuts possible. No longer do you have to scare the crap out of yourself on some cuts that you know you should not be doing, with the Gripper your hands are nowhere near the blade even on thing rips. You will use this almost every cut on the table saw or router table too. Not only do you feel about three times safer than without but you will find that the control afforded will give you better results like less burning. For small cuts one is fine but for longer cuts having two not only makes it safe it makes it easy doing a leap frog with the pair of Grippers. It only took me a week or so of using one to get the second one, it was a no brainer. I got the optional 1/8" leg and it works great on those small cuts like making edge banding for plywood. If you rip thin strips on even a semi-regular basis get this leg too. Not an inexpensive accessory especially if you get two, but just think of it as an insurance policy with only one premium because the doctor will charge you a fortune to try to sew back on a finger or two. Pinch pennies somewhere else, these do the job and will exceed your expectations.

Five stars means "I love it." There aren't many things I actually LOVE, but this is one. I grew up with a quality radial arm saw, and for everyone that now lives in fear of them, I used it for decades without incident or injury--and I ripped and ripped with it. I now own three of them, including a 5 HP, 16 inch. I didn't own a table saw until last year, and it put fear into me like radial arms do to so many others. I cringed at ripping past that table saw blade. I bought a GRR-Ripper and it totally changed my outlook. I immediately bought a second one for leapfrogging long cuts. I don't routinely cut chopsticks with it, as the ads like to show, but I use it for EVERY rip cut, even 8-foot long stock. Complete control, no kidding. Complete confidence and as close to complete safety as is probably possible. The unit is extremely well made. It's plastic, but not junk plastic. Mold work is top notch. Fasteners thread into brass inserts. It costs some money, and it takes a moment to set up for a cut, but it helps produce better work and it keeps your fingers on your hands. Compared to the thousands we spend on tools, and the value of fingers, the cost is nothing. The world's best safety device is inside your skull. But I think the GRR-Ripper is a far better safety device than all the guards and shields and warning labels ever produced.

The GRR-Ripper is such a nice tool and safety device that I recommend anyone using a table saw to have. It's simple to put together, although be careful that you do thread the screwed carefully so that they don't misalign and potentially strip. The grip and pressure of the GRR-Ripper is helpful and stands up to many types of wood as you cut them on a table saw. Pros: Simple to put together, great accessories, easy to modify for a variety of cuts, provides the ultimate in safety. I actually use this in combination with a push stick sometimes to get better guidance and more safety. Cons: my only complaint was that the first one I got had a bad screw as I was putting this together and there wasn't an extra one to build it, causing the threading in the nut to strip. Quickly replaced it however. Added Bonus: Get the movable handle accessory. You can then skew the handle to get some added diagonal/side pressure enabling further control and additional safety. Otherwise, I highly recommend this safety device and general guide for use. I'd rather have this thing get cut to pieces than my fingers.
