    • Awesome decorative piece idea with a couple design flaws

Great as a decorative piece using very low energy. For optimal growth it’s really best to just use the full spectrum. The different spectrums are useful though if using as more of a decorative piece and prefer other colors. Few things I did not like on this product. The lens covering/protecting the LEDs is a fog color as opposed to clear. This blocks a lot of the usable lighting for the plants. The build in timer is nice but the options for the hours are 3, 9, or 12. It would be much more efficient to have longer time periods such as 8, 12, 16. For how little power this uses, who would only use it for 3 hours a day? The power factor rating is also horrible. This is normally caused by cheap components(called a driver, somewhat similar to what a ballast does) that regulate power to the LEDs. Overall for the price of this product, their lower power use, and cool decorative looks, I would give these a very favorable rating. ... show more

Ok, I was desperate! We moved into a new place and my plants were getting absolutely, zero sun. My roses were dying, my bamboo looked like it had given up hope and my African Violet looked like it was begging me to put it out of its misery. I tried everything,plant food, new soil, talking to them, everything I could think of. And then I saw an ad for these "grow" lights. I figured, what the heck, might as well give it a shot! It's been about 2 weeks, my bamboo has bright green, leaves, my African violet has lush shiny leaves! And my beloved rose plant has new leaves AND it has a new rose bud ready to bloom! The base was a little disappointing in that it easily falls over when not placed under a plant but it works perfectly well when properly in place. My son has a north facing window and uses one in his dim room for his small succulent collection. So far, the plants are still thriving with the light.

    • Get yourself a better grow light...

This light can't even stand up without something sitting on it's extremely flimsy plastic base without falling over, but that's only the beginning. This grow light only works for plants that tolerate EXTREMELY low light. My plants were struggling with these lights and I had to replace them. One plant is doing moderately ok with it, but I am still going to replace it once I can because of it's poor performance with all of my other plants. There's many other BETTER grow lights out there that actually put out a full spectrum of light and will not cause your plants to struggle and stretch for light even when it's right next to it like they will with these lights.
