Out of the box (single, encased in Styrofoam) no cosmetic flaws besides 1 small barely noticeable line in clear coat (natural finish). Set up with string height, neck angle and intonation well done and even good fret work. Also decent sounding pickups, though I bought with intention to change to GFS dream 90s, all electronics were usable. Very comparable to indio boardwalk I own and is also killer as is. True it's not $2500 from the big G, but if you think you might like a semi hollow es style guitar, this is a great purchase BUY NOW. And if you don't like it as is, it's a solid platform for your own mods. I own 30+ guitars mostly from "cheap, bargain, entry, kit builds" and other derogatory adjectives for inexpensive brands, but I've played plenty of the $1000+ gear and if you want to sink your tax refund into something you're afraid to to play go ahead. But for me, I'd rather get this, spend another bill on a few upgrades and a bit of tweaking, and have the something sounds good and plays well. Sorry for the rant, but great guitar! Play more! The guitar is set up at the factory, and then the strings are detuned for shipping. After delivery let the guitar acclimate to the climate in your house and tune the strings and see how it is before trying to do any other setup. Mine came with fast low action and good intonation. There was just a little buzzing from the first two frets on the low E (to find out which fret is causing the buzz, I slip the corner of a single ply of tissue paper between the string and the fret wire and move it from fret to fret as I pluck the string). The nut was cut a tiny bit too deep at the low E, but polishing down the two fret wires at issue took care of the buzzing. Cosmetically, the guitar looks great overall, and the p/u switch and pots work smoothly without crackling or dropping out. Good weight balance, no weird tipping either way. Tuners are fine, and the strings stay in tune. Only other thing I might recommend is change to nicer feeling and sounding strings. The factory strings feel a little rigid and the sound is a bit lacking in warmth and fullness. ... show more
