  • Flawless in almost four years of use.
I have owned this saw for almost four years now. It has been nothing short of a horse, cutting true, doing big resaw work, and for a while, I even had a 1/8" blade on it when I had a lot of bandsaw boxes to finish. It is well designed, easy to change blades, and for those who need the "nickel test", it passes with flying colors. The only thing I have had to do in the four years was change out the tires at about the 30 month mark, and occasionally oil the bearing guides since very fine sawdust will get in between the double ball bearings, causing them to not turn properly. And to be honest, I am SO glad I spent the extra money for the foot/electric brake. Just hit the foot pedal quickly, or the stop button, and the blade is stopped in a little less than three seconds. I don't know how much of my time has been saved not waiting for a blade on two huge cast iron wheels to stop. I am so impressed with this saw, (and I do a lot of bandsaw work), now that I am replacing my worn out Porter Cable bandsaw, (my other saw), I am seriously thinking of just getting a twin and buying another one of these. Keep a wide blade on one for resaw, a small blade on the other for tight work. Only hiccup - it is possible to start the saw, and actually cut a bit with the blade tension arm in the released position since it is on the backside of the saw and out of sight. Would have been nice to lengthen that a bit so you could see where it is. It needs to be just a couple inches longer and have a red knob on it instead of black. Otherwise, almost a perfect saw for the money. ... show more

  • Not a wimp for sure. Good saw.
I don't generally write reviews on what I purchase (though I do read them on almost everything beforehand...). However, I want to add my two cents here. Is this an Italian machine with a polished table, waxed tires and chrome trim??? Not a chance. Does it cut wood, day-in-day-out, adjust accurately, have power for pretty well whatever you throw at it? Absolutely. I am a very careful buyer when it comes to tools for our small-mid size custom furniture shop. We needed this saw for a particular project making bandsaw boxes, and our old standby P-matic 14" just wasn't going to cut it (no pun intended). After juggling Laguna, Rikon, Powermatic, Jet, Oliver, Mini Max ($ouch$), I couldn't justify, for what we needed in a bandsaw, spending the extra money for either the same-machine-different-color model, or something that had bells/whistles the average cabinet shop will never appreciate. In general, and this bandsaw is no exception, Grizzly tools are utilitarian, not Cadillacs. Think of them as the XLT Ford line; it gets the job done, and does it well, but isn't something luxurious. From my experience with Grizzly tools in our shop, and at a school down the road, this has been the case with every one. With a sharp blade (which excludes the one they send you with this saw) this is a true workhorse. It is an excellent companion for lathe turners who need capacity and power, but not high precision. Though I have successfully re-sawn several boards on occasion, it pales to my friend's MiniMax. The shipping company tipped it over in transit, but it survived fine, except for the key sheared off inside the ignition. No big deal. Foot brake is good, but haven't needed it. The fence is nothing to write home about but works fine. ----Overall, I'd buy it again if I needed it for the same project.--- ... show more

  • Grizzly Junk
This bandsaw is basically a piece of crap. The blade that comes on it is junk. The fence is too weak and flimsy to hold square. You will not get quality cuts with this bandsaw. It is an easy conversion to 220, at least. As usual, Grizzly's shipping is absolutely awful, and their service after the sale is a complete joke. My saw arrived in a flimsy "crate" that allowed the finish to get completely marred and worn during shipment (most likely when is was in a container ship from China). Imagine if you bought a new car and the paint was rubbed off from one side and the dealer said "too bad"... I'm hoping to sell this piece of junk off so that I can afford a JET bandsaw. I'll never buy from Grizzly again after experiencing their complete lack of customer service, billing errors, shipment issues, and their inability to follow through to repair damage as promised in their terms of sale. ... show more

  • 2 failures in 13.5 months.
I have the Grizzly anniversary model bandsaw. The saw cuts well, but I have had a couple failures with it. I purchased it in December of 2017. Around August of 2018 the rubber drive tires developed dents and caused blade wobble. I contacted Grizzly and they shipped them to me free of charge. In January of 2019 , 1.5 months after the 1 year warranty expired, the on off switch failed. I contacted Grizzly and since it was out of warranty, i had to order a new one. It was obly 10 bucks which surprised me, but with the $10 shipping it’s about what I’d expect. The end result is I am again stopped in my woodworking until I receive the new switch. I had a much cheaper Craftsman bandsaw before and it didn’t require any repairs in 10 years. Wondering if I made a mistake upgrading. ... show more

  • precision cutting and brake
I have resawed down to 1/8 inch with exact thickness all around. The motor and foot brake are options that I can't believe anyone could do without. Stops the saw in 3 seconds.
