  • The case is horrible, plan on removing all your discs
The video quality is easily twice as detailed as streaming it from Prime video in HD. I was watching the season before on Primes HD streaming service. But wow, watching the episodes from the Blu-ray disk is like the difference between VHS and DVD. Online streaming for any HD or 4k, just cannot match what you see on a DVD player that supports UHD. The case that the discs came in, was a total worthless pile of junk. Five of the discs had already fallen out when I opened the package. And some others were locked in, was so tight I was afraid of breaking them trying to wriggle them out. Very poorly made and definitely not a good way to store discs. I hope the little scratches won't affect playback. I'm on Season 2, and so far no playback issues. I had to remove all the discs from that horrible case, and place them in a binder with DVD sleeves. This case is sooo bad. ... show more

  • Discs out of order, but totally fine! :D
Like others have said, tons of the discs were out of order and the case itself can be hard to open and close. My advice is to just take out every single stack of discs and put them all in the right order of seasons. Also, you'll notice the "knob" that the disc centers rest on... there are two disc spaces on each page, but on one knob there's like a half-circle of plastic around it. That makes the discs you put on that knob higher than the other. So when putting the discs on the two spaces, you'll want to start with the one without the half-circle of plastic, because the half-circle helps the other discs rest higher, so they all stack right. You'll understand once you look at the case. But all of my discs have been functional and fine, they were just out of order. The discs are numbered pretty clearly, so it's easy to figure out. Season 1 has like, five discs and they'll all say 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on them. The case pages can be hard to flip, so be gentle when opening and especially closing. And be careful taking the disc out, just because of how they stack it could be easy to bend them funny. But so far no troubles for us. We're having so much fun rewatching this wonderful show. :D I really wish they would make the sequel they discussed before - maybe someday! ... show more

  • Season 4 discs are different from the others but still play.
The Season 4 discs play but are different than the others, may be from somewhere other than the U.S. The menu is symbols only, no words so a bit confusing until you figure it out. The subtitles don't always play but we were able to get them using the subtitles button on our remote. For all of them, some of the discs were dirty or lightly scratched, possibly from the awkward plastic packaging which has the discs in groups of 3-4, laying on top of each other. We were able to clean them and get them to play. We purchased the complete set as the seasons bought separately were more expensive, and Season 4 was not available at the time. Not sure we would make that same decision now since all separate seasons are available again. ... show more

  • Grimm The Complete Collection Official Review
This is an official review of the set. Season 1 quality disks had minor scratches and a bit of glue on the top of one of the disks... but didn't really matter since the bottom matters to actually run the show. Only 4 disks out of 5 were effected, no heavy scratches. It simply means that they were poorly handled, because your disks should not scratch with simple cardboard. However, there seems to not be any real damage to season 1, despite minor scratches... disks should run fine. Will test them later to see if they work. Season 2 disks, were completely unaffected. Super clean. Season 3 disks, extremely minor scratches... no glue damage and really only 2 disks had super small scratches... I would just say they were scruffs...Will test affected disks later. Season 4 disks, same with season 3. Season 5 disks, were completely unaffected. Super clean Season 6 disks, were completely unaffected. Super clean Just note to wipe your disks to see if that "scratch" is really an actual scratch... But no there was no problem with glue here and the disks should be fine even with the scratches because blue-rays are pretty scratch resistant.... trust me I seen worse when I rent movies at red box..... and they still ran too. So I'm just going to take away a point for some of the scratches, particularly the first season. Now ok let me talk about the set itself... It's actually really cool. I did not realize that it had actual leather straps to bind the book-like set... image on amazon made it seem like it was part of the hard cover image, not actual straps. So I found that to be pretty cool... kind of wish I kept the way it was tied... I also really like each panel on this set. It goes into detail about some of the monsters of the show, and the drawings are pretty good. I have always been a fan of the study for mythical, extra terrestrial, and classic legends such as big foot and the chupacabra... ironically both of them are in the show... I skipped through the pages and checked since I haven't watched this yet. It seems like grim touches on more older folklore than mythical creatures... I noticed some like the wendigo... krampus.... the weeping women... So much transformation of various animals..... moth man himself... groot? But unfortunately it's what I expected, no digital codes for any of the seasons. I think it's safe to buy this set if your (1) A collector that also never watched the series like me (2) Just a collector (3) If your a huge fan of the show. Other than that.... you might as well buy them individually if you fit none of the above. I will update after I watched the full seasons to see if there were any problems... but other than that... I'm pretty satisfied with it. Go ahead and buy it if your interested. ... show more
