Greys all new flagship fly reel is fully constructed in bar stock aluminium and fitted with either a fresh or saltwater sealed disc drag system. Got the 5/6 wt. Full cage for Euro Nymphing set up. Weight is heavy and will be paired to a Cortland 3 wt rod which balanced out. Drag ring takes a couple of rotations to cinched down but the drag is very good.

Greys was a new brand to me, so I was a bit hesitant to pay roughly the same price as the well-proven Orvis Hydros. When the Tital 7/8 went on sale for about 30% less, I snapped it up for my 8-weight salmon / striped bass outfit. Build quality is excellent, the drag is strong and smooth (easily enough for 15-30 lb tippets), and the tolerances are perfect. A popular YouTube channel criticized the drag knob and retrieve handle as undersized for easy operation, so I was curious to find out for myself. What a great, smooth running reel. Nice attractive body style, a silver grey color, with a large arbor to hold a ton of line. I ordered a 7 weight size for bass fishing and it's been great. This is a great overall fly real. I set mine up for stream trout or small pond fishing. The drag is very smooth and the line capacity is as expected. I rarely catch anything that pulls more than 20' of line off before I get them turned around, but the real handles great and is extremely smooth.
