Amazing socket set! With perfect case. I have been using these sockets several days a week for the last year and a half. Mostly for automotive and boat repair. Mine have minor surface rust, but they've spent the last 2 summers on my boat which is parked in salt water for half the year. None of my tools that I keep on the boat ever last too long, but I think I will have this set forever. This set has also been left out in the rain and snow several times. I like that all sockets are 3/8 so you don't fill the case up with many of the same size sockets. It covers a great range of sizes from 9mm-22mm and 5/16"-1" in both shallow and deep. All of the sockets are still easily read. The set includes 2 extensions 3" and 6" and a quality ratchet. The ratchet is very tough and not sloppy at all. It's not a precision ratchet with super fine teeth, but it is very nice. The sockets are not clipped in, so if you tip it over they will spill out but I like it much better like that. The lid and handle can be removed, making a great socket organizer for your tool chest drawer. The case has quality hinges and closing latches. I like to also keep a universal joint and a wobble extension stashed inside one of the larger sockets. I couldn't be happier with this set, I will definitely buy the 1/4" and 1/2" versions.

Grey nailed it. VERSATILITY / DURABILITY / COST. 3/8" drive Deep & Shallow in Metric & SAE that are designed to be less bulky than normal impact sockets yet ARE IMPACT RATED. Even so I did not jump to buy these until some careful evaluations were made. I knew the normal Grey stuff in 1/2", 3/4" and up drive sizes is gaining a glorious reputation for quality and durability in the truck shops running higher than normal shop air pressures on their seriously snotty impact guns. So when truck mechanics trust it you know with certainty that Grey has the design, alloy metallurgy, AND heat treatments on target. These duo sockets being 3/8" drive are more in the range of general automotive and you can adapt them down to 1/4" drive if you have an adapter for say your 1/4" drive mini air ratchet etc. The best thing about this kit is you pull it out well armed for SAE or Metric deep & shallow for using "armstrong" or impact tools. A few things I would like to see would be for the ratchet have a flex head instead of fixed, some extra space in it for some adapters and my SnapOn stubby flex ratchet, and maybe include a 3/8" impact swivel adapter so all the sockets can be angled into tight areas. Those all help when you are mobile on the road. Not such a big deal if this set will live in your bay with your other tools on hand. All considered this kit is a top overall choice if you value versatility, durability, and bang for the buck in a 3/8" drive kit. Grey has truly earned your consideration for this fine kit in my opinion. JP-USA

Been needing to clean up and organize a socket drawer that was in too much disarray. After having great success with other Grey Pneumatic tools in heavy use industrial work, I bought these to make it simple. The molded case it arrived in fats terrific as an organizer, as well as the tools inside are easily recognizable for the size's and easy to differentiate between my co-workers tools (there won't be any "thought that was mine" now) beautiful tools in appearance with a heavy duty weight and feel. The included ratchet is very smooth and durable, and has left me hankering to just replace my 1/2" and 1/4" sets as well. As for use, they handle every task I throw at them, and unlike my older impact sockets, these are thinner walled and just as strong from what I have experienced. Thinking I'll just go ahead and buy the 1/4" and 1/2" sets while I'm on amazon already

If you want a quality socket set you can someday pass on to your grandchildren, this is it. I had never heard of the brand Grey Pneumatic before my purchase, but I won't forget it. In looking for a socket set, I wanted a durability, quality, completeness and a case; this set has it all: Durable: * Impact quality socket set, not cheap chrome * 6 point sockets (less liable to strip as compared to 12 point) * Sturdy blow-molded case Quality: * Precision manufactured with tight tolerances * Easy to read printed and laser etched size markings Completeness: * Includes ALL standard sizes in range (none of the 9, 10, [],12mm BS you find with other sets) * Includes standard as well as deep sockets * Includes ratchet and extensions To boot, the wobble extensions that double as standard extensions are ingenious. I purchased this set along with the 89653CRD 1/4" set, and look forward to owning more GP products down the road.

these sockets are pretty decent. i had my doubts at first, but after having used them for a few days now--i would by them again. i am a diesel mechanic and was looking for a cheaper alternative for 3/8 impact sockets for my cordless impact gun. I really wasn't too excited about spending an arm and a leg for matco and snapon sockets. the sockets are thick and seem to hold up to serious torque. the ratchet is really smooth and works really nicely. its button for locking the sockets is recessed down into the ratchet head, which is really nice because i don't have to worry about accidentally bumping the button and releasing the socket when i don't want too (which was a problem with craftsman ratchets). in addition to them working really well, they look damn cool and unique. i usually don't miss place tools too often, but if i did i think these stand out against some of the more typical socket designs. overall, i really am satisfied with these sockets and would buy them again.

9/14/2023 Update: This is still one of my best purchases from Amazon! I've never come across anything that doesn't fit a size that this set matches perfectly. I will say it's used primarily for automotive purposes, but I use it around the house for general purpose use too. I did break the 3" extension when breaking the lug nuts from my mother in law's 4Runner, but I got a replacement that's thicker & heavier duty for less than $5 from NAPA. My only regret is that I didn't buy the 1/2" size vs 3/8" as I have to use an adapter for the heavy duty breaker bar that I use quite often. However, the 1/2" to 3/8" adapter has worked every time except one where I had tight space & the adapter took too much space. Again, best socket set ever since it doesn't skip any sizes from 7MM to 22MM & 5/16" to 1". June 2016: This is a great ratchet set that covers every size that a homeowner can come across. Quality is 2nd to none as the ratchet works smoothly and attaches to every bit with ease. You can't go wrong with this ratchet set.

I purchased this set almost 11 years ago (7/20/14) and in that time it has been a great set with a few exceptions. The most notable is the ratchet. It is absolute junk. The first time it broke may have been my fault. The second time it broke, I knew to take it easy. The third time it broke, I just threw it away. Why? This brings me to my next exception. The warranty is basically junk if you buy the tool on Amazon. It’s up to the seller to warranty out the tool as grey pneumatic themselves will not bother since it wasn’t purchased from an authorized distributor, and most of the time, the seller doesn’t care either. As you can see from my photo, I upgraded the garbage ratchet that came with the kit to a tekton brand, and I’ve had zero problems with it. You may also notice that after almost 11 years of use, they aren’t as new and shiny as they once were, which is fine, but it’s worth noting that the laser etched surfaces and any kind of moisture aren’t friends. In closing, do I think this set is worth the asking price? The $155 I paid for it then? Yes of course. The $260 it’s at today? No I don’t. There are other options out there with better warranty processes available. However, if you feel like you need this specific set, it has really lasted for me other than the ratchet itself and cosmetic issues. It’s worth mentioning that it has seen a lot of hard impacting use as well. Never any splits, chips, or cracks thankfully, because as stated, the warranty is junk.
