  • Ah-Mazing!
Aside from some issues packaging and vague instructions I highly recommend this mower. I purchased it to replace a high-end gas mower that my daughter borrowed and never returned. To call that serendipitous is an understatement. I've been using it for 2 months now. Here's a list of what I noted: 1. The instructions are under the machine when one opens the box. Hard to know how to unpack when you can’t reach them. 2. The font size of the instructions will challenge anyone who needs glasses to read. 3. The catcher bag was not wrapped and snagged on the lower deck. It took a while to figure out how to get it loose 4. Bolt and knob assembly holding the upper part of the handle is confusing. It loosened but did not release from the bolt. Pulling on the knob as I turned it revealed an extra set of screw threads and the knob did eventually come off. 5. Replacing and tightening those knobs was another exercise in confusion. Once attached to the bolts they simply spun round and round without grabbing the second set of bolt threads. I did figure it out without guidance from the vague instructions. 6. With my same-width (21") self-propelled gas mower, I cut my 3000 square feet of lawn in about 40 minutes. It takes 45 with this mower but that is likely just me and how I handle it. 7. Self propel accelerates once engaged so selecting speed can be a challenge but one will get used to it. 8. It is MUCH lighter and much easier to maneuver 9. The grass catcher is smaller than my gas model but I didn’t have to empty more often; seems the clippings are much finer than those from my gas mower 10. One can start and stop when convenient IE when stopping to pull a weed or remove a pine cone, etc. – no pulling starter rope! 12. Storage super compact-easy to store in my garage vs gas mower which was always stored outside 11. 2.5 amp 80-volt battery from the GreenWorks leaf blower I own still had power after 45 minutes of mowing 3000 square feet 14. Single lever height adjustment is a dream come true 15. I wear ear protection but likely not needed - quite quiet, especially compared to gas mower 16. The lowest speed of the self-propelled is a bit high when cutting in close spaces but manageable. 17. No gas smell, no gas to store, no refueling mid-way through cutting, no rubber gloves to wear when refueling., 45-minute recharge - it is fantastic! ... show more

  • I love this mower!
This is simply the best mower that I've ever had. In my 40 years as a home owner this is the best that I've ever had. I am 69 and retired. It's light weight and moves so very easily across my lawn. I push when on flat surfaces and use the self-propelled 10% of the time for the 2 little sloops that I have. The cuts are clean and sharp. I mulch 98% of the time and never have clumps of grass. The bagging works well too. My last mower rusted underneath within a few years despite my cleaning. This mower has hard rubber/plastic and steel underneath that is very easy to clean with a brush. Five minutes and done. My 40 X 40 foot front yard, around my backyard garden and 200 feet of fencing and the battery is still going. Still has 33% life left. Battery easily inserts in and out. Of course this also helps climate change, doesn't smell and I don't have to run to buy gas. No equipment problems. Great buy. Oh, and the battery works in my Greenworks snow blower that I also love. ... show more

  • Awesome mower definitely has the power of a gas mower!
1 year update: Mower started chewing up batteries, especially in Texas heat. Sharpened the blade with a grinder and this baby is kicking butt again! So if you notice a lag and your motor running hard longer, sharpen the blade/get a new one. Love the tool line! Previous post: So I unboxed this guy right after I got it to mow my 18" backyard. Worked like a champ! It had to get out of power saving mode and blew threw the 4ah battery, but I expected it. I have an 1/8 of an acre and only mowed half. I had mulch the grass and it didn't skip a beat. It mowed just like a gas mower would and cut to the edge of the blade, not the frame because the blade doesn't touch there! The self propelled mode is great especially if you are not strong enough to push it up an incline, my 4'10" 100 lbs. wife tried it out in the tall grass and had no problem at all. I also have the weed eater with the bottom mounted motor and the backpack blower. All these tools are great and I will not be going back to gasoline! To the person who says the wheels stopped, it has a 4 year warranty get it repaired or replaced. I do recommend at least the 4Ah battery for the mower and have 2 2Ah batteries ready to go for any of my tools. I have it standing up in my shed taking up very little space. No worry about oil, filter, gasoline, or spark plugs! ... show more

  • Perfect mower for a small to medium lawn that's relatively flat
I don't bag so I can't talk about that aspect of it, but I've been very satisfied with this mower. That said, I'll nitpick a couple of things. The propulsion is kind of anemic and there's a decent delay between pulling up on the lever and the mower actually moving. And similar delay once you let go of the lever and the drive disengaging so if you ever had to move the mower back and forth quickly, just disengage the drive and do it manually. The wheels are hard plastic and don't give good traction on wet grass and up a grade. The motor itself does have the sufficient power to pull the mower up a fairly decent grade but the wheels will slip a lot. My lot is flat enough that I can work with the factory wheels but if yours is not, you might want to think about replacement wheels. Other than that (and they are admittedly fairly minor issues), this is a great mower well worth the money. If you're already in the Greenworks 80v family of products, it's even an easier choice. ... show more

  • Economical
I don't know quite what the make of this thing yet I am still analyzing it probably the shock of a battery-powered lawn mower the technology is here for this now I have an electric car that's probably why I bought this because I'm so happy with the electric car they have come a long way with this technology I like the fact no more stinky gas and oil draining the gas every year hoping it starts come summertime I just took the lawn mower and to get repaired it was going to cost $150 not to mention my car stunk of gas and oil when I got home very little maintenance with this I will tell you this I don't think this is for somebody with a lot of land if that's the case you better buy a few more batteries I also highly recommend that you use the original greenworks battery for this it's a little bit more money but those knock offs that they're selling for less money you can't go very far on them as you can the original battery for this I'm ordering a second battery now I also don't miss the noise from the gas powered lawn mower that when you get done mowing your ears ring all night I'm impressed with this it's eco-friendly I haven't fully been able to comprehend the whole thing yet but so far I like what I see I also bought the Green works snow blower with interchangeable 80 volt battery if you're thinking about this make sure you read all the customer reviews that's one of the things that made the final decision for me this is also very well builtalso you don't have to worry about running out and buying gas and oil then you've got that stuff laying around in a storage shed on a hot day not good the only thing with this is when you get done plowing snow bring the battery in the house same thing with the lawn mower battery in summer I don't think the high heat would be good for it or in Winter the ice cold affects battery but it's well worth it considering the aggravation of gas oil and noise from a traditional lawn mower or snowblower ... show more

  • Works Great!
I have only been able to use twice because of all the rain. So far I love it. Easy to start and cuts my grass and mulches leaves great. I love how you can store it upright so it takes up less storage space. Will continue to buy Greenworks products for all my yard needs. This is the third Greenworks product I have purchased. I have the leaf blower and 16 in. chain saw. Haven't used that yet. The lawn mower is an 80 volt battery as well as the leaf blower so I can swap them out and always have one charged. The rapid chargers are wonderful. When one is low I just swap them out. ... show more

  • Good mower Update
After a year for my situation this mower won’t work. My Bermuda grass is very thick and lush. This mower is not powerful enough to handle it. It leaves large clumps of grass everywhere because the mower isn’t powerful enough to mulch properly. It bogs down constantly on level 3. The batteries only last about 18 minutes because the mower is working so hard. Then the batteries have to rest a couple of hours before they will charge because they have overheated. If you have thin grass it will probably work fine. If you have a thick luscious lawn I would suggest something else. I wish I hadn’t given my Honda away now. It’s now 2 years since I bought the lawnmower. In June and July every time I cut the grass the batteries only last 15 to 20 minutes. When I try to charge the batteries I get a red signal on the charger and they will not charge. I assume they are overheated. I am sitting here writing this as I wait for the batteries to cool down enough to charge. So in waiting for the cool down and the recharge time it is going to be at least an hour and a half to two hours before I can get back to cutting my lawn. I would not recommend this mower for hot climates. My neighbor has an EGO and he never has this problem and his mower is older than mine! ... show more

  • I’m an e-mower believer now!!!
This e-mower is amazing! I have a larger yard with a lot of hills. There is about 1/5 that I can’t use my riding mower on because it’s so steep, so I use a self propelled. My previous mower was gas and it was a typical gas experience - lasted awhile and started to give me trouble, would not propel itself up hills, smelly, loud, always filling up with gas, etc. This e-mower is light, no smell, little noise, propels up big hills with ease and tough!! Hit a stump, chipped it up and no damage to blade or motor! Battery lasts plenty long. I’m impressed!! ... show more
