  • Outstanding value, performance, quality and comfort
Style: 40V Sprayer w/ Battery&Charger
I might be a little biased as I own several Greenworks tools. They are light (but not cheap), work exceptionally well and last a loooong time. I have a hedge clipper (fantastic), line trimmer, leaf blower, chainsaw (amazing) and until recently, a mower. The mower was 11 years old when it died and that was my fault. Stupidly, I rinsed the bottom with a garden hose. I could lift this twin blade marvel with one hand. The sprayer is equally well designed, with quality components. Will be applying lawn pre-emergence. Of course, calibration is required. Check out Average Lawn Guy on YT. I got it done on the first pass. At a walking speed of 81 steps per minute (24" step, using a metronome app) the sprayer delivered 1 gallon of liquid on a 1,000 sq ft patch in 2 and a half minutes. I can do my entire 10,000 sq ft lawn in 25 minutes. The fan tip, at about 8" from the ground, produces a consistent and even swath of liquid, about 2 feet wide. The sprayer is light, quiet and super comfortable, especially compared to other backpacks I've used. It has both waist and chest straps that keep you snug and comfy. There are so many other choices for sprayers. It was tough to make a decision. I feel I got lucky with this one. ... show more

  • Fast/easy to use, but *major* flaw in vent - leaks under conditions commonly experienced by users
Style: 40V Sprayer, Tool Only
I have many Greenworks products (lawn mower, edger, chipper, blower, 2 chain saws, etc... probably 8 or so) and they work very well. Have always been very pleased (5 stars) until this product. This product is easy to use and cuts the time of applying chemical by a marked amount. Battery life is very good. It is a huge time savings and worth the money except for the following. The lid leaks and it leaks badly in certain situations. I have twice been doused with chemicals drenching my lower back while using this unit. The first time (round up) I thought I might have spilled some on the sprayer when filling it and then it transferred to me. So I rinsed it and kept using it. I've used it many other times without leaking. Then yesterday, I was drenched again. I was using tenacity with blue marking die and immediately after I put it on (before I started spraying) I found my shirt and lower back drenched in blue die. Probably 1/2 cup of fluid made it out the vent. I stripped and washed, then traced the leak through the dye to the vent hole in the lid. The hole is small so sloshing in the tank doesn't cause a leak, but if you fill to the 4 gallon mark and lean it a little (no where near horizontal) in the wrong direction the fluid comes out into the lid and then rolls down the side and/or rear of the sprayer (and you can't see this if it is on your back, your first notice is a wet feeling). I am an engineer with expertise in product design, machine design and fluid mechanics. I do expert consulting in these fields and teach these topics in one of the top 5 engineering schools. The engineers that designed this product (unless my lid is missing a check valve) did not properly design this vent. I took this lid, flipped it upside down and filled it the fluid I was using, and the lid leaked. It takes little pressure to move fluid through it, especially if there is a surfactant in use. I suspect they did not consider how the fluid would interact with the geometry + area of the vent if the fluid in use wasn't the same viscosity and/or surface tension of water. If the tank is tilted a little, or say it falls over (as is reasonable to have happen to anyone in normal use) then chemicals will leak out. A very simple, low-cost check valve should have been used to prevent users from getting doused with chemicals the engineers should have known are exposure hazards. This is a major safety problem that should not have made it out of the engineering prototyping/testing phase. This should have been caught in testing. As it is, I can still use the sprayer, but now I don't feel safe filling it more than half way, so much of the time savings I had earlier experienced is now lost. Greenworks has provided me with great products in the past, but this one will cause me to really look closer at future purchases and/or just switch to other. It really bothers me that people can get exposed to things because of such a simple mistake that should have been identified before product release. ... show more

  • Great machine

It a little heavy, but I really like it.

  • Great for even heavy work around the house
Style: 40V Sprayer, Tool Only
Strong sprayer. Good quality even for heavy home use. The battery housing could use some upgrades, too small for bigger capacity batteries and doesn't latch well. The sprayer it self, has good power and it's very comfortable to wear. Good battery life and liquid capacity.

  • Very efficient
Style: 40V Sprayer, Tool Only
Bought this for spot spraying. It does not leak like the "red one" and is easy to use. I ran about 25 gallons thru on 1 - 2 amp battery. Easy to adjust spray pattern. Also comfortable to wear.

  • Quality issue, small leakage from pump line, can be dangerous
Style: 40V Sprayer, Tool Only
Leakage in pump line

  • So much easier than a pump sprayer
Style: 40V Sprayer, Tool Only
This makes spraying weeds so much easier. There's a filter on the tank which also helps reduce foaming, a problem I had with my pump sprayers. Although it's very heavy when full (4 gallons of chemical weighs about 32 pounds), the backpack design makes it easier to carry than a 3 gallon (24 pound) hand-carried pump. But the best part is that it's always got full pressure, no constant hand pumping required. Just point the wand, squeeze the trigger, and you can spray all 4 gallons in one go if you want. The only real downside is that the tank is not removable, nor is the harness easily removed. That means you can't give the tank a really good flushing without soaking the harness, and you can't swap tanks for different chemicals. So you'll need to be careful about what you're using in the tank so you don't mix incompatible materials or end up spraying traces of glyphosate on your lawn. You also can't change out the battery without taking the sprayer off your back or getting someone else to help you, however it uses such a small amount of power this is unlikely to be an issue. I haven't used even 25% of the smallest 2 Ah battery spraying an entire 4 gallon tank. The older, rounded 40V batteries are just slightly too big and the battery door won't latch closed if you try to use one; this has never been a problem with other Greenworks tools. ... show more
