  • My new almost daily driver!
This is an AMAZING pair of headphones... in the right environment. And that's the main caveat. To say that the audio from these headphones leaks is an understatement. Anyone near you will hear EVERYTHING that you are listening to. And also all noise will leak through as well. So these are not for use out and about. These are for use at home, in a quiet room. That being said. When you're in the right listening environment, these headphones SING! They really shine with music that is grand and wide (think things like Jazz, Classical, Soundtrack, anything with a choir, etc). Now if you're a bass head, you might as well stop and look somewhere else. But if you like accurate and clean sounding bass, you can't go wrong with these. They have enough bass to enjoy pop, rock, though maybe a bit lacking for things like edm. Though that could be corrected with an external DAC/AMP like a Fiio Q3 or something similar. The soundstage is super wide! I really feel like I'm being surrounded by sound, even when compared to something like a AKG Q701 these feel so much more wide. Which with a super wide soundstage, there's something else these are great for: ASMR! I've never understood asmr videos, but after trying one video with these headphones, I finally understand. I can actually feel like I'm there listening to someone. The same goes for other 3D audio experiences. I've never been a huge fan of PS5's 3D tempest audio engine, but now I can actually hear things around me with these headphones. This wide soundstage can be a double edged sword however. Music with really bad mixing will sound bad. There's no way around it. If the music is poorly mixed and mastered, you WILL HEAR IT, and it will sound BAD. An unfortunate side effect of having a headphone that really reveal all details in your audio. Here's what I dislike. It's a very thick and unwieldy cable. Also it seems as though they attached the cable with the headphones laying flat. So when you twist the cups to sit on your ears, the cable twists and creates an annoying twist at the junction where the cable splits for left and right ear. Also I've found that if you have a beard, hairs can get caught in the braided sleeve of the cable, which can cause an uncomfortable pull when you move the cable the wrong way. Both of these things are very annoying , especially using the headphones when laying down. For both of these things I'm taking off a star for comfort. Overall I would recommend these headphones if you want a daily driver to use at home. If you need something when you're out and about, I would look somewhere else. Excellent for: Music, Video games, ASMR Bad for: Traveling, outdoor use, loud environments, anywhere that's not at home, music that is mixed bad ... show more

  • Waited way to long!
I have known about Grados for a long time but never tried them. I can say they live up to the hype. They are detail and soundstage monsters. Your music will sound different on these in a very good way. There is a lot of energy in the treble which works super well with certain type of music. Modern pop/rock music with lots of treble will find a bit overpowered and too detailed. Not the fault of Grado but how modern music is mixed and engineered. For other genre they are incredible. With the amount of detail and soundstage you don't need extra bass. The bass is there just fine. However if you really want it they do respond a lot to eq. I prefer HD6xx for listening to pop and some rock. They still have good soundstage but have less treble. However the soundstage on Grados are a level above anything else. The only thing I don't like is the cable. You can tow a car with it. They definitely picked it for the conductive properties and not for the comfort application. They saved the money in a lot of areas and put it all into the sound and build which is what matters most. The only real negative reviews here are subjective. One the ear phones are usually not comfortable for anybody but Grado designed a good headband. You can shape it to your needs and it still remains springy. Also a review of someone comparing it to wireless headphones made for tv listening. Ridiculous. ... show more

  • Awesome cans!
You need to pair with a good dac or preamp. Im using Qubuz and a tube pre dac that you can also buy here in Amazon, sound is crisp and clear. Sound stage is good, not the best. For those people who's all about the bass, this is not for you. It's a pleasure listening to jazz and some rock music with these cans. Voices are so warm and in your face (try listening to Kevin Lettau, Bridges by Sergio Mendez). Guitars are hot and snares are crispy. Basses are tight. I use it for reference as well. Compared with most cheap headphones ranging from $50-$200 price range, these are still my favorite. Absolutely not for DJs or for boom boom bass guys. Also, these are not comfortable to wear, but its all good. I still love it. Pleasure over comfort, I guess. Lol! ... show more

  • Needs to be Connected to an Audio Receiver
I bought these wired headphones to use with a Smart TV. I listen to the music channels available on satellite TV. My old over-the-ear wireless headphones are great for this, but are failing. But a new similar wireless headphone is vastly worse for audio quality. At least they do have volume control. The GRADO SR125 does not have volume or tone control, and the cord, at 6 feet, is quite a bit too short. I also prefer an over-the-ear unit but this unit is on-the-ear. The volume and tone coming directly from the TV was not acceptable. I did not want an audio receiver that supports speakers and multiple inputs, as they are too big and more expensive, and I cant use speakers in my environment, so no need. The GRADO was initially connected to a basic DAC (Digital to Analog Converter). But I found a DAC with volume, bass and treble controls that is less than the size of a computer power brick that works perfectly. The sound is now great and I can control the volume. The DAC unit also improved the audio of the wireless units as well. Because of the short cord and on-ear design I now use the GRADO only for music and switch to the wireless unit for standard TV audio. Just don't expect to get good results connecting to a TV without the additional controls. Note: The wireless units are RF, not bluetooth, and all use the same audio output from the TV. ... show more
