There was quite a bit of prep-work, but it turns out I more time than money during the Covid-Summer so I decided to do it myself. I did it for less than $1500 including the cost of the sprayer. I got quality Glidden paint from Home Depot, and doing it yourself you know exactly what goes on the wall. i also got this great sprayer. it worked like a champ. I even sprayed a buddies house - he did his own prep cause that's no fun. The sprayer comes 50' hose which is essential for 2-stories. As a handyman, I have used this sprayer on two long jobs and sprayed about 100 gallons through it. I am impressed with the power and tip options. The unit is easy to clean, but you need to give it time to flush and also time to preserve the pump or you will have issues. I have followed the steps and get a nice spray everytime. Its been very dependable so far. I recommend purchasing the extra lengths of hose up front, because moving it every 50 feet can be bothersome without the cart. I always use 100 foot of hose and I have no issues spraying primer or top of the line paint. As a bad thing, my own fault of course, I have dumped two suction screens down the drain by accident when washing the gun and suction parts. So buy a few extas now, you wont regret it. Make sure you investigate the tips, as there are several models for fine finish in the RAC20 tips you will want to use. Oh, and when using supreme quality paints, use some Flowtrol addative to help the one coat paints spray better. ... show more

We put this sprayer through the ringer, spraying outdoors in almost freezing weather, dragged it around on the muddy jobsite multiple times and it holds up. This is a great general purpose sprayer and I would recommend to anyone looking for a budget buy. Sprayer is easy enough to clean if you are semi experienced. We were able to store it full of paint for 13 hours after spraying and it still cleaned up. Make sure you know what tip and orifice size you need for the job, do a little research before you begin. Initially, I was going to purchase the DIY or Project version sprayer, but considering the capabilities I have decided to go for Pro version (17G177 Magnum ProX19). I need to spray paint my house with a thicker paint, which will require a stronger sprayer, that is why I have purchased this model. Up until now, I have painted the interior of my house with primer, then painted all ceilings and some of the walls; the sprayer was easy to work with, adjust and switch from paint to paint. Also, I have called the customer support number (which is printed on the sticker on the sprayer), got quick and friendly response to my questions. This sprayer is INCREDIBLE. The spray gun with reversible nozzle to clear clogs is awesome all on its own. The sprayer is easy to use and clean, and makes painting a breeze once you get the hang of it. Well worth the money to buy a high quality product and get the high quality results you expect. Be sure to watch the instructional video from GRACO on Youtube, as well as read the instructions that come with each sprayer. The Graco Magnum ProX17 is a well made airless sprayer that excels at large jobs such as painting all of the cabinetry for a new kitchen (which we bought it for) or painting the interior or exterior of a house. There are a ton of tips available for the sprayer depending on what you need to do and what type of paint you're using, and the unit can be used for hours without any problems. If you put the time into learning how to use it you will achieve professional results. That being said this is not a sprayer for small jobs. For instance, just priming the unit including the included 50 foot long hose requires the better part of 1/4 gallon of paint. Prep and cleanup are not trivial either. This spraying turns anyone who is "moderately" detailed into a SUPER PAINTER! Simply follow the directions, watch a few "how to" videos. Practice a little with water, then get your job done. My wife and I completely painted the exterior of our 5000+ sq. ft. home in two days.
