I wish the screen was a bit brighter during the day but it's not that bad and it's quite accurate not only in the roads but also on its estimates of distance and time. 1. IT came with open open internal packaging, obviously it was a used one, but i bought as new. 2. This GPS could not EVER connect to the signal from satellite. 3. The programming is not simple. 4. I can not trust the company which sent me a product that is opened, was used, and not working. 5.All reputable companies put their mane on the frame of the GPS: like Garmin, or Tom-Tom. 6. I return this G-garbage P- piece of S- ...t to where its belong, back to them 7. I bought Garmin and happy with it . 8. Spend a few dollars more and buy a good reputable product. 9.     • A local shakedown cruise revealed digital schizophrenia--perhaps insanity

After 30 miles of weirdly consistent misdirection over familiar roads with easy routes, the humor faded and the annoyance rose. My wife & I shut it down and pulled the plug. Initially I'd supposed the bad directions derived from local map anomalies copied from Google, and my selected tolerance for including routes with dirt roads. But that explanation soon proved inadequate. Want some examples? 50 yards short of joining a rural highway which would bridge a river en route in 3 miles, Ms. Cargad demanded we turn onto a dirt lane running briefly parallel. When I declined she insistently demanded we turn back and obey the goofy turn imperative for the next 5(!) miles. Our destination was on the left side of the highway. After finally accepting our veto of the last commanded turn, she began directing us to turn right(!) on every dirt road for 8 miles till we arrived at our left turn driveway--at which time she told us our destination was still 1,000 ft. ahead. On the return trip we set an (easy) destination on second highway onto which we would turn left in 14 miles. As before, the projected route was initially mapped correctly and accepted. But after 9 miles, the Cargad lady began ordering right turns at every road intersection. That was when our patience ran out. I'd really had hopes for this GPS. My initial experience with TomTom had been great--until it was "upgraded" into senility by the removal of 43 US states to accomodate reduced information on the remaining five. My Garmin experience was only slightly better: a glitchy, obtuse machine with a poor touch screen, but it remains at least consistent because I refused to upgrade it. (The maps are a decade out of date.) So I had high hopes for this Chinese replacement with a cheap price and a surfeit of bells & whistles. After sending it back to its maker, I'll probably gamble again with the familiar bad domestic choices and hope for something better than the dubiously "refurbished" TomTom I returned several years back for behavior (mildly) similar to what I described above in the Cargad GPS. ... show more

    • Some good, some not

First, I should say that this is replacing a 12 year old Tom Tom that is no longer supported, so anything is better than that! I was skeptical of buying a no-name brand, but for the price decided to give it a try. I am still learning where to find everything on the unit. I had an awful time finding the volume control (which is low even when turned up) and where to reset the clock. It does come with a printed instruction manual, but sometimes it is confusing and is printed in tiny, tiny letters (literally had to use a magnifying glass, so figure everything out before you get in the car!). Things I like: shows the speed limit and lets you know when you are 5+mph over; shows miles to go, arrival time; map is easy to visualize. Things I don't like: I miss having the mph show on the GPS; the large screen seems cluttered and much of the writing is too small to see; the bracket with suction cup does not adhere to my dash-so I use a nav mat, but the bracket isn't quite tall enough to clear the edges of the nav mat; putting in the address is tedious having to go through state, zip, town, street, then #. If the unit gets turned off (ie at a rest stop), you have to start over again. Best bet is to save your addresses to favorites. I got this because I am moving to a new state and will need gps. I don't like to use my phone (which is too small anyway) and needed something to tide me over until new car time in January! ... show more

    • Won't find satellite. I'm returning as I needed this to work today.

This is the worst product I have purchased through Amazon. It charged, I can get the "maps" screen. I enter the "maps" and it won't connect to the satellite. Not much good if it can't even find the earth much less a driving route. I'm definitely returning and will pay extra for a brand name that works. Unfortunately, I needed a GPS for a trip I'm going on tomorrow. Guess Siri will be my co pilot. Not looking forward to no GPS. Total thumbs down! ... show more

This thing takes me the absolute worst possible route, often going in circles before reaching my final destination if I ever get there at all. It didn't take too long to give up and just use my phone for GPS. I'm not sure how it would do in more rural areas but for traveling within San Antonio, it was a huge waste of money. ... show more

For the price, this GPS came with a lot of accessories, and a large screen. Unfortunately, it was hard to get a signal, and when you did connect, the connection was unreliable and would lose connection frequently. Also navigating or inputting specific addresses was cumbersome. I ended up returning the unit and getting a reliable and true Garmin GPS.
