I’m revising my original review of this product (see original review at bottom) because the manufacturer showed me that they care about customers and stand behind their product. Once I contacted GoSports with my issue, they replaced the backboard that did not last with a new one. Also, I asked for recommendations on how to extend the life and got a usable response. When not using the hoop, it needs to be removed from the elements to extend life. Where we live, temperature fluctuates from 90’s in the summer to 20’s during the winter. So, buy this product but plan to take care of it if you want it to last! (Initial review) This product only lasted one season. On the backboard, the plastic/vinyl lines for the square above the hoop are adhered to the backboard, dried out and started to break off. It seems like a simple fix is possible, but has not been made available at the time of this review writing. ... show more

Ordered one last month because the first one, the backboard deteriorated. It says it has updated how they glue the material so I ordered another just to be disappointed again. This time I was sent the wrong neck support (neck support doesn’t match description and matches description for Gosport Hoop Legend and not Elite. It is now sagging (25-30 degree) because the weight of the backboard is too heavy and no response from customer service. ... show more

Out of the box, I was surprised to find a ratcheted box end wrench for assembly. This made the process a one person asssembly. Instructions were simple and easy to follow. The base is sibstantial and holds enough water to prevent the goal from moving. The backboard is large and so far, very sturdy. The rim is powder coated and shows no sign of delamamination or rust reported by some other buyers. The unit comes with two full sized balls, (which will need to be inflated) a hand pump with a flexible hose and two needles. It is very sturdy and has a generous height adjustment. While it is sturdy, I would not recommend allowing energetic guests to hang off the goal after dunking. Injuries could occur and you may have to fish the goal out of your pool. We have used this goal everyday for a month with no failures, so no customer service issues/calls to report. We would recommend this unit highly. ... show more

I chose this, spent the extra, hoping it would stand up to a 13 year old boy and all his friends abusing it, and it was worth the extra! This thing is very heavy duty and made to take a beating - they dunk on it, and have so much fun! Added benefit has been that it has also gotten my husband, my father, and others more engaged in what's happening in the pool - they all challenge each other to games of HORSE/PIG, 1 on 1 games, and other silly games where one person shoots and if they make it everyone else has to shoot the same way (backwards, side arms, and whatever other silly things they can come up with!) and make it to move on to the next round. Definitely money well spent! Update July 2023 (after 1 year of use - not even really because it was in the shed all winter): Dropping to a 2 rating. After just over a year, the hoop itself is so rusted, it is dropping huge chunks of rusted off paint into my pool - which has a liner, so is a concern not only to our barefoot guests in and around the pool, but also a risk to our liner. This was stored indoors over the winter months, so in actuality it's only been about 8 months of actual use and exposure to the elements. I would not recommend this for use by a pool! This product is made and marketed to be poolside, the hoop should be made to withstand more than 8 months of use. Update August 2024: when I contacted their customer service in 2023, they immediately acknowledged a known issue with a certain batch of these hoops that made them rust and sent us a replacememt rim/net/bolts at no charge to us. They were very friendly and sent the parts very quickly! It was super easy to swap the pieces out and the new rim has not begun rusting at all yet - 1 year in. We had a pretty rough bunch of 15 year olds here a few weeks ago and one attempted to kill a horse fly on the backboard by slamming the ball into it as hard as he could, and it broke a chunk of the plexiglass off. It was very easy to find the replacement part here on Amazon, reasonably priced at $75 for the new backboard. It was very easy to swap out as well. The only good thing about this product is it looks great. 1 week old and backboard is leaning far forward. I tightened the bolts to try and fix and they went right through the plastic. Way too expensive to have issues like this in 1 wk. Its an outdoor pool basketball net. I should be able to handle the elements. ... show more
