Both the new exchange camera and the new camera for my girlfriend were defective right out of the box i have videos for each camera messing up even with the new firmware. Great looking 360 footage and stabilization. I have a 4K edit driving over the Salt Flats over on YouTube under the FreeWheel channel ( make sure to select the 4K option in your YouTube settings if its not preselected ). It was all shot handheld out the sunroof using the flat color profile at -1 stop and 24fps. Color and editing was done in HitFilm Pro. Still surprised at how well the stabilization worked. The beta GoPro Windows software worked flawlessly in converting the 360 footage to ProRes on a dell laptop. The touchscreen becomes intuitive over time, but controlling the camera through the iOS app is even easier. ... show more

Ok the camera is good, but it only films 1080p 60fps on a single lens. 5k in 360 mode but it’s very difficult to upload. You’ll need to convert the video prior to using it in a video to upload to YouTube or other streaming services. The hyper smooth stabilization is super cool!

Amazing product. Slight learning curve from Hero 7 and 5. The ability to use as a hero8 or 7 with either lens is appealing. The 360 capabilities are years ahead of its time. Reframing software by GoPro available on Mac and mobile. GoPro is developing and testing the Windows 360 software as of the time of this review. I cannot recommend anyone buy the GoPro Max. I've owned this thing for 2 months learning all its ins and outs. I got myself the tri-pod stand, 3 xtra batteries, waterproof housing, the overpriced remote and a 400g Sandisk Extreme Pro card to go with it. Tried it out at my friend's bachelor party with a few hickups such as poor battery life ~1hr each and the remote needing to be synced with the GoPro everytime it turns off making it F****** USELESS (Not to mention the remote's battery doesn't has more than a few hours and has a proprietary charger). Then the disappointment really sets in after you get to the footage. Using the GoPro program (windows) on the .360 files to change them into a workable format takes an obscene amount of time even on a beastly pc. Using the CineForm 5.6k output gave me a file that Youtube liked and kept the 360 spherical metadata. Non of the other options would allow me to retain the metadata forcing me to find another program everyone is using to inject it into the file. Did it work for me? No. Are there any other options? Not that I could find and certainly nothing GoPro themselves have to offer. Oh and the image quality of those 360s? Dog s***. Absolute DOG S***. I guess I'll just deal with the dog s*** and take this thing to my friends wedding because it's still pretty cool. Still novel. We had an awesome wedding. Emotions were flying and everyone partied their asses off. Did the GoPro capture any of it? A few minutes. I'm beyond upset. There were memories in there that got butchered in the middle of recording. Shortly before the ceremony, the video froze and continued recording only audio. I just can't anymore. There is more stress involved in getting a video online than is warranted for spending ~$800 on a video recording device. My phone could have done a better job. ... show more
