A year ago, I bought the SameTop brand of this accessory mount, and that was a mistake. It lasted only a couple of uses, until the strength of the spring, broke the handle in half, and broke one side of the jaw hinge! I wrote a review for it, and even included a picture showing the zip-tie that I was using, to keep the handle together for a little longer, until I could get a replacement. A year later, and now I have bought the official GoPro brand of this Flex Jaw, just how did it perform? Well, I really put it to the test! I was doing a lawn maintenance routine on my lawn. I wanted to shoot a really cool action video of the dethatcher attachment, dethatching my lawn. So I clamped this jaw, to the lowest point of my tractor, where the cutting deck would have mounted to the tractor, just underneath the engine. I used the adjustment strap, to secure it to a very narrow point, and that spring is so strong, that it was able to hold it there, against gravity mind you! It literally lasted the entire dethatching project, and it gave me super cool footage of the dethatching tines in action, yanking out the dead thatch and moss. The flex jaw never broke on me, and it did a great job! Differences between the two you might ask, other then quality? Well, aside from the official GoPro version being of a higher build quality, the GoPro version has a rubber grip on the handle, the Sametop is just smooth plastic. Also the GoPro version has a shorter goose neck on it, where as the Sametop is about an inch longer. They both have the same strength in the spring though. CONCLUSION: Sometimes it does pay to buy cheap, but not in this case. This is one of those times, where you truly do get what you pay for. If you want the quality version of this accessory mount, then you must buy the official GoPro brand. 5 out of 5 stars! ... show more

This is probably the most versatile GoPro mount that I own. You can usually find a place to clamp it securely in almost any location. If you use it over water be aware that it will sink like a stone if dropped. I have cut a short section from a foam pool noodle that I slip over the goose neck so that it will float. This mount is well made and the clamp is strong. I would recommend this product. The attached picture was taken using the GoPro Jaws Clamp Mount and my Hero4 Black Edition clamped to the blade of my kayak paddle. Yes, I do trust this mount in "at risk" situations. ... show more

I try not to purchase non-OEM products in order to to just save a few dollars, Spend the money you will be glad you did. The Jaws hold firm, and what I like most is that the mount can be used in a variety of ways. I will be using the mount to attach a Gopro to a truss light rail in a temporary manner. The gooseneck attachment allows me to quickly swivel the gopro to different sides of my dj gigs and wedding events. as I need in a 360 manner. It also allows me to extend the gopro to , creat different angled point of views. When I am moving or done for the night, I can simply unclip the jaws or detach the gooseneck with the quick clip insert. I am thinking of purchasing the additional gooseneck that comes with the Jaws Clamp Mount. Attached this second Gooseneck to the Jaws mount gooseneck via daisychain allows me to further extend the camera in a variety of directions. Will see ln the future. FYI the goose neck clamp has no instructions, took a few minutes to figure how to open the clamp. There is a strap, that comes with lt. l havent figured out if its for packaging only or there is uses for lt, no youtube review mentions lt. ... show more

It is always a toss up for me between buying a brand name product vs a generic. In most cases with 3D printing and low patent lives products are just as good if not better than the OEM products. However, when it comes to camera accessories and specifically GoPro accessories, I will buy brand name 99.9% of the time. This is just one more case where it made me glad I did. I did a comparison of an off brand Amazon product vs this GoPro version. Not only is the neck stiffer for use in a wide variety of applications, but it also has a better clamp with better materials to clamp onto a range of thicknesses. I will continue to buy GoPro brand accessories! ... show more

Really nice GoPro accessory, super versatile and simple in application, but very effective! The only situation that this accessory is not very viable is when you are trying to clamp to a slim or skinny surface or object such as a basketball rim, car window or some bed frames. Has a rubber adjustable strap on the inside of the mouth of the clamp that is supposed to help with that purpose and it does an okay job of it. This clamp is strong as hell. My mom can't even squeeze it open. Vibrations were minimal clamped to my helmet over 100 mph but pretty bad at any speed when clamped directly to the bike but I really don't think it's the fault of the clamp because my handlebar mount and front fork mount are both WAYYY worse in terms of vibration. The rubberized sections definitely help get a solid grips on the handle which is understandably more compact than a regular clamp just to make it less cumbersome when clipped to helmets and such. There is also a thick little adjustable rubber strap with the texture of a huge ziptie that loops on the inside of the clamp that protects the finish of your surface from the clamp's tough steel spring and cane be used to create a false bottom in the clamp so it has a more shallow bite.
