I'm the principle cinematographer for TitleMine, a new web series and YouTube channel that chronicles a math teacher as she travels the country buying and flip exotic cars for profit. Like any professional automotive channel, we use a lot of Hero 3+ black cameras for exterior rolling shots, and a variety of mounts for them. But an issue came up: We wanted to get a relatively novel extend shot of a hill climb from the POV of the driver of our Dodge Viper ACR. We couldn't use the DSLR setup that we use for traditional filming; the ACR's cockpit is very tight with a low ceiling, driving with one of those in front of you or anywhere near your head would be virtually impossible. This head strap was the solution. Robustly stitched with thick, expensive feeling plastic buckles and mounting hinge, the head strap is quick and easy to fit on anybody, and mounting the incredible Hero 3+ Black to the front allowed us to get the raw footage out of protune mode that made for a thrilling, immerseive experience. The footage should be released in a few weeks. Additionally, we were able to take advantage of the enormous amount of snow this winter to take the head strap snowboarding, and it did very well. Even after jumps resulting in about 15-foot elevation changes on impact, the camera stayed tight in its mount and didn't fall forward, and the rubber-backed headband stayed tightly affixed to the rider. The only unfortunate thing about this mount is that it cannot be worn comfortably under a helmet, or securely over one, but you can remedy that easily because each GoPro box includes a bunch of adhesive helmet mounts for the camera that you can use for racing or snowboarding/skiing/skydiving. There is an included clip to mount the camera at a different point on the head strap, or to a belt or something. It seems to work well, but we haven't used it for a shoot yet. One tip for buyers: Use your GoPro LCD or smartphone app with the onboard wifi to properly adjust the camera before every shoot. This is more necessary here than when using the GoPro on the side of a car or something, because the camera needs to be angled down towards your feet to a counter-intuitively high degree to get a natural looking "first person view" from its mounting point. Pros: Works as advertised, well made, comfortable. Cons: None. Verdict: Great buy

I love this headstrap! So far I've wore it for a half marathon, kayaking, and snorkeling. All with great results. First of all, the strap is very comfortable. If I wear it above a hat I barely notice it's there. The strap is adjustable so you can get a tight fit and not have to worry about it falling off during filming. I had no problem wearing this during my half marathon, other than the fact I looked like a total nerd... Second, the shaking on the film is not bad. The whole point of getting a GoPro is to see from the actor's perspective. So if I'm running, I expect to see movement. I debated about getting this or the chest strap for running and decided that a headstrap would avoid the back & forth sway (yaw axis) you would get with a chest strap (not to mention your arms getting in the way). If I had to buy this again I would just get the cheaper version without the quick clip. Normally the camera is screwed onto a hard plastic plate on the strap. The quick clip clips camera onto the plate, rather than being screwed onto it. I understand the point of the quick clip is to be able to get the GoPro off of your head without taking the whole strap off. I have not used this device because it doesn't look very secure. I would rather take the band off my head since it only takes a second to get it back on. The clip really freaks me out. I'm curious to see if anyone else has had good experience with this thing. Lastly, couple of tips: 1: After your GoPro is properly screwed onto the plate on the strap, you can still pivot it to point up or down to get the best filming angle (and then tighten the screw further if there's any slack). I didn't get this right the first time I took it snorkeling with me so I ended up filming ABOVE the water instead of all the amazing fish I saw under the surface. 2: If you're filming a long event and can't leave the camera running on your head the whole time because battery power you can obviously get a spare battery. However, if you're running a race and can't finish within time one battery allows, set your on/off to recording, turn your beep to 100% volume and get familiar with the beep pattern on the GoPro. This will allow you to operate your GoPro without looking at the control display and know you're actually filming. Alternatively, you could use the remote or your cellphone, but the wifi would just suck more power out of your camera. Good luck and have fun!

The GoPro Head Strap with QuickClip has truly become a must-have accessory for my GoPro camera adventures. This is my second head strap, and I can’t emphasize enough how user-friendly it is. First and foremost, ease of use is a standout feature. Attaching and adjusting the QuickClip to my head or any other gear is a breeze. This thing was incredible! Exactly what I wanted. I just raced in my first Mud Race trail run, and I wanted something that I could capture my POV, without being super bouncy and un-stabilized. I considered the chesty harness for a personal POV, but I decided with all of the crawling and such we would be doing, that a view into the ground, literally, probably wasn't my best choice. And not to mention the difficulties I would encounter trying to keep the lens clear with that angle. So I decided on the head strap. When I first put it on, I was pessimistic if the strap would even stay on my head. It isn't super tight (even though you can adjust it, you can only adjust it to an extent. More on this later....), but it did have gel like grippy things to keep it on my head and secure. As noted, I was pessimistic, but it worked! It stayed on my head, in position, for the entire 5k mud race. There was a point when swimming where I had to swim under water, and under a barrel. I came up too early, and my GoPro hit the barrel, removing the strap from my head. So I had to hold it for the remainder of the swim. That was my fault, not the strap. I will note about the positioning. This is a little difficult to type, but I will try. There are two adjusting bands, one that goes over the top of your head, and one for around the circumference of your head. As you tighten, or loosen, the circumference band, it literally positions the middle strap to the right or the left. The middle strap is connected to the circumference band at a non-adjustable position. So as you tighten the band, for around your head, it will pull the middle strap to the far right. As you loosen the circumference, it will position the middle strap to the far left. Thus, creating an awkward middle strap that does NOT go down the middle of your head. And there is no ability to move where the middle strap is connected at the forehead or the back of the head. So you are forced to just "make do". And that was frustrating to try and maneuver so that the band was tight enough to be secure, but not tilt the band to make the camera be crooked on my head. That would be my only major complaint. I wish the rear of the middle band had a movable position so that it could always be centered, regardless of the tightness or looseness of the circumference band. Or, rather, I wish there were adjustment options for both the left and right side of the circumference band so they could each be tightened, or loosened, evenly, keeping the middle strap centered. That was most infuriating, which is reflective of the 4 star rating. It would be 5 had this problem been more customize-able. I got some amazing footage of the race, and an amazing POV, and kept the lens clear the entire time. Good job GoPro. Overall.

For my job it's essential for great POV shots. I work for a talent agency that brings attractive girls in need of money and want to become famous. So I need to film these girls when they come in for the interview. Little do they know this interview isn't an interview at all. I have them come in and have them sit on the black leather couch while I sit behind my desk. After a little Q & A and them explaining to me why they want this job I tell them how they will have to work with male talent today to see if they are good enough to get into this industry. Plot twist I am the male talent. So after about 30mins of doing the dirty tango (unprotected of course) I explain to the girls how the adult industry is a tough business. The girls agree with me but explain how it's their dream. So I tell them how I'll pull some strings and give them a call later in the week about their next video shoot if the producers like what they saw. But here's the best part....I never call them. So I trick them into making a video with me and have them sign a wavier agreeing to be filmed .With this headstrap I don't have to hold the camera anymore and it makes my job so much easier. good head strap. original GoPro so how can you go wrong? feels like a tight fitting hat, which I'm sure is good for action videos. Hats quickly give me a head ache and this is no different - I tried it on and maybe used it once. I'll use it sometime but I'm just not a hat person. still a good product

It fits very comfortably, but it's not at all secure. I got this because I needed a way for me to record video of me swimming, but the chest mount is too low making the camera underwater. This was the only thing I found from Go Pro that even had a way to mount the camera on my head. It needs a way to be better secured though. When I "threw myself in the water", to quickly adapt to the water temperature, where I sort of do a belly flop when I get waist deep to quickly immerse myself, this, and my Go Pro, came off. I spent about 30 hours in the water searching for where it fell before I finally found it. Luckily this and the Go Pro survived. I was tempted to get bungee cord or some elastic strap with hooks at the ends or the like wrap it around my neck to better secure this. For its intended purpose, this works very well. If you use it for swimming, use it after adjusting to the water and don't jump or dive in. Remain level to upright and try to use your ears to help secure it some. It may not be comfortable, but it's either that or the crisscrossing elastic straps method.
