  • Great for POV shots of your dog
Size: !Accessories
The GoPro dog harness is a great way to capture unique shots from your dogs point of view. It has two spots to mount the camera, one on the chest and one on the back. The chest seems to shake more than the back does, but the new GoPro 10 has a stable mode that really helps steady the shots to make the back shots really watchable. The chest mount area is a bit more shaky, but you could still use the shot in a quick cut format in your edit. ... show more

  • Perfect for bigger than rat dogs!
Size: !Accessories
Most people complain about the harness shifting around on their dog when they shake. Probably when you put this harness on a small rat! I have a medium build Doberman who loves this thing. She is a fast runner and beats this thing up and still it holds tight and moves very slightly when she shakes. The only thing I might say is a down side is the straps that go under front leg "pits" is just the strap with no movable protector to reduce friction. something that won't cost more than $5.00 to fix. Just redness appears after a couple hours of running, just a little annoying to see. ... show more

  • Great quality item but be careful where the GoPro is mounted if they’re roaming free
Size: !Accessories
I have a 9-year old 51lb female Siberian Husky. We moved to a farm and she goes off on adventures for 1-2 hours by herself, sometimes coming back soaked (she found the pond next door) and sometimes head to toe in red mud!! I bought this so I could attach my Hero 4 and see what she gets up to on these solo adventures. I did have some difficulty getting the clip part into the harness mount. FYI, You lift up the grey rubber part on the clip, slide the clip onto the harness mount and make sure it’s pushed all that way through, to lower the grey rubber part. You need to do that to lock it into place. Learn from my mistakes. 1. If you’re attaching this to your dog to see what adventures they’re going on, on your farm, DON’T attach the camera to the back plate but attach it to the breast plate. If you attach it to the back plate and your dog is shimmying under barbed wire fencing exploring, the GoPro will get caught and the very smart dog will wiggle out of the harness to set herself free. Sad day! I attached this to my husky. It was snug and secure. We did some trial runs with no issue. After some jogging and her body shaking, it leaned a little to one side, but still captured everything great. This is solidly made and great quality. She didn’t complain about it at all! Unfortunately on her ACTUAL solo adventure, I had an epiphany that the GoPro camera will get stuck on barbed wire and she’ll get stuck and I wouldn’t be able to find her. 5 minutes later she comes home without the GoPro or harness. Now I get to walk my property to see if I can find it near the fences! Dammit!! She did have a smile on her face, wet fur and burrs! I hope I find it because that video would have been golden! ... show more

  • Works Great with my Chocolate Lab
Size: !Accessories
This was such a great idea. After reading other review of the GoPro Fetch cam, I was hesitant, but took a chance and purchased it anyway. Attached the harness to my beloved Chocolate Labrador without any hassle. Hooking the clips was easy enough and the straps didn't bind his movement whatsoever (that I could tell). At first he wasn't too keen on having the device on his back, but he quickly forgot about it when I brought out the one thing that trumps anything else (even squirrels)...the tennis ball. Is the video bouncy? Well, yes - he's a dog and he bounces, jumps, runs, sniffs, rolls and does all the things dogs do, which in turn creates a rather choppy video. But, the purpose of purchasing this was to capture life from the dog's perspective, and in that regard, it does exactly what it was made to do. It stayed on his back just fine - didn't have to do many adjustments to keep it straight. Found that putting the camera above the dog gives a better view than attaching it below. Can't wait to take it with us to the lake. Have only had this for a day, so as time progresses using it, I'll add any additional findings I stumble upon (good or bad). In the meantime, enjoy the short video of the harness's maiden voyage. ... show more

  • Some good things and some bad things
Size: !Accessories
I've tried several harnesses to capture the world from my dog's point of view, and had high hopes for the GoPro Fetch harness. The good: it is well thought out, high quality, and easy to put on Rover. The bad: the slide-in fasteners could be more secure, and the straps tend to slip and loosen through the buckles as the dog moves. The elastic straps are soft and comfortable (I assume) for the dog, but the slippage is a problem. I gave the harness the ultimate test a couple of weeks ago on my yellow Lab during a pheasant hunt. I hit a pheasant at long range, my dog took off after it, through the thick brush and out of my sight. Several minutes later she came back with the bird, but no camera or harness. I looked for some time for the camera/harness, with no luck. Remarkably, the next day some other hunters found my camera and harness, and returned it to me. It appears my dog had run about 100 yards and chased the bird through a barbed wire fence, which I suspect removed the camera. It was found right along the fence. Granted, putting a camera on a hunting dog that will go through walls to get a pheasant is the ultimate torture test, but I had hoped for better. My conclusion: while the harness includes a small tether to secure the camera itself to the harness, I am going to devise a way to attach or tie the harness to the dog's collar. If I had done this on my first outing, the device would at least have stayed attached to the dog. I am also going to have to safety pin the straps together, or otherwise try to keep the straps from slipping. That is my biggest complaint. If your dog is undertaking milder activity than chasing pheasants, and you can keep the dog in sight, the GoPro Fetch will probably work well. I suggest, though, tying the harness to the dog's collar. I'd also suggest using an older, less expensive GoPro. Get a waterproof camera housing devoted exclusively to this use, as it will get scratched and beat up. I will try it again, but will rely mostly on a GoPro mounted to my cap, not my dog. Unfortunately, dogs are not designed to be cinematographers. ... show more

  • Hate mail for GoPro (read on)
Size: !Accessories
Dear GoPro, I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I was blissfully ambivalent about your products until I was cursed with this harness. In the past, my kids and I would play for hours with your camera. One of our favorite games was shooting video of me diving into the pool (I'm a really good swimmer, though I have yet to learn anything other than the doggy paddle). My kids and I would play for hours with your camera, and then relive the fun watching our videos. But then this cursed harness came into our lives. I would like to go on record as saying that I do not like harnesses of any kind. If God wanted me to carry things, He would have created me as a camel, or donkey, or some other lower life form other than the glorious creature that I am. Now, when I first tried on this harness, it wasn't that uncomfortable (for a harness), but then my kids, with the help of their evil Uncle who purchased this torture device, attached the camera to me. Yes, to ME! What am I, some living, breathing tripod? NO! If I had opposable thumbs, I would have freed myself from this torture device and thrown it away. Despite the obvious enjoyment my kids got from seeing me wearing the camera, I did not appreciate it one bit. I have spent years developing a precise awareness of how tall I am. With your camera sitting astride me like some tiny, square cowboy, much of my world became suddenly inaccessible. I tried to walk under the coffee table, as I've done thousands of time, only to be stopped dead in my tracks. My kids and Evil Uncle found this hilarious and were laughing their heads off at me. Well, I don't need to take such disrespect, so I went to run and hide under the dining room table. That didn't work out very well. After fighting gallantly with the chairs, I decided to give up and just go outside so I could escape the mocking laughter and get some solace. But, then - the doggy door! MY door! I tried repeatedly to go through it, as I've done countless times, but never succeeded in getting anything more than my head outside. Finally, Evil Uncle removed the camera, but only to mount it to the front of my chest. At least I could get out of the house now. I did finally get a bit accustomed to wearing the camera, but I still don't appreciate being used in this way. They finally took this thing off of me. I thought they had decided I had been humiliated enough. Wrong! They hooked the camera up to the TV and replayed every excruciating moment of my humiliation. And if that wasn't bad enough, when they were done watching me run into every low item in the house, they called the entire family in and watched it again. With everyone laughing at me. Clearly, my kids think this harness is a great idea. Me? Not so much. Do you have any idea how many times kids can watch the same video over and over and over again when they find it funny? Does this torture have no end? Thanks, GoPro. I hate you. Sincerely, Snickers (the dog) PS. My humans love this product. ... show more

  • Looks great, functions poorly
Size: !Accessories
Initial thoughts -- still testing. Out of the box this harness looks great. I put it on the dog and spent a few minutes adjusting until it looked just right. However, with the camera mounted, the harness lists to one side. I have adjusted it numerous times and this continues. I have noticed that the straps loosen very quickly so adjusting the snugness is ineffective because it will not maintain. I also put it on my dog to just wear around the house without the camera to see how it held up. He scratched and unhooked the belly strap. There is nothing to keep the straps in place, they just hook on. So if he's running around outdoors and brushes against things, he could easily unhook a strap that way as well. My fear is that, off leash, he could lose this harness. Plus, I can't get video that is not crooked because the camera / harness will list to one side. I plan to test this some more and see if I cannot overcome this but it might require modification to the harness and I don't see the point in paying this much for something that I have to modify to make it work. I might as well make my own harness mount if that is the case. If I overcome these drawbacks, I'll update this review. 17 October 14 update After multiple hikes I found that the harness requires constant readjustment because there is no way to lock the straps at the point you adjust them to. Straps loosen within minutes and even faster when wet. It worked a little better on my 46 pound dog than on my 66 pound dog (holding adjustment slightly longer). I really cannot understand this poor design with no way to properly adjust the straps so that they stay in place. The straps have no buckles, they hook onto a loop in the strap. The dog can undo these when running around by brushing against a tree, brush, etc. This has happened multiple times. I am considering removing the straps and attaching the platform to something else. ... show more

  • Very good but has its limitations
Size: !Accessories
Well constructed. I have a 80 lb lab it fits him well if he gets much bigger the belly strap will be nearly maxed out, the chest/front leg straps seem to ride bag on him after 10-15 min of trail hiking. Maybe taking off the front chest camera mount will help. The front camera mount is nearly useless since he spends a lot of the time with his nose on the ground. The back camera mount is good, a tall “j” hook is necessary unless you want to stare at the back of his head. No flaw of the GoPro mount but make sure your camera base clips in very tight. I used an off brand j hook and it rattled bad enough to ruin the audio of 1-2 hours of footage only to realize this after the fact which was m fault. ... show more
