I picked this up so that I could film my lifts for critiquing form and couldn't be happier. I use the hatch with the entire back exposed to get better audio. Audio is sufficient for what I am using the camera for. One thing I really like is all the accessories available for this which makes filming very easy. I grabbed one of the flexible tripods and it is very sturdy. I don't really care that the camera is fixed to the housing because I take care of my electronics very well and wont be using this for anything that could damage it. Potential buyers should think hard about upgrading to one of the models that has changeable housing if you think yours will be damaged. I also really enjoyed the editing software because its very user friendly and I have no experience editing. And finally the price was a great deal at only $179 I couldn't pass it up. Got this little baby yesterday. Its small , compact and does what it says. The GoPro App on my Galaxy phone makes this little gopro camera a tool to play back video with ease. And edit and record my favorite scenes. The controls are straight forward. 3 buttons control the camera. So its not super technical. Good resolution for the money. I got it mainly to capture me surfing, but with the attachments I can buy , its pretty practical to take this little baby where ever I go .. My only complaint is , that the read out as you scroll through the functions is pretty small and black text with a grey background , make it hard to see. If there was an LED light , (blue) as the back ground light for the text , I think it would be easier to read.. But I have 40 year old eyes. So maybe the kids have no problem reading the small text. Other than that, GoPro came through with this little fun action cam. Its durable design is ready for my abuse. However in the years to come, I would like to see more specific designs for the functions and consumer application of the camera. Like a Surfer Gopro, that is specifically for surfers. That way the camera is completely float-able in some way. I think with all the reviews of surfers losing their camera from the mounts not adhering to their boards is Gopro hoping to catch more sells from lost cameras. ... show more

Great camera with unbelievable resolution for both pictures and video. You need to spend some time to learn how to use it and which accessories you'll need. It takes some getting used to. Need to learn how to frame the video correctly and keep the camera steady for video taping. Because it's so small it's easy to move it around a lot. I HIGHLY recommend the camera, but also HIGHLY recommend you experiment and try working with it before you get to action you really want to record. The underwater resolution is incredible. Used it several times scuba diving in Belize and it worked really well. ... show more

Overall a very good action camera. The high def looks amazing on playback, it is crisp, smooth, and crystal clear. The wifi is a great feature on the camera. I use the app on my cell phone to access all of the controls and it works flawlessly. I use this camera as a dash cam and being able to control it remotely is invaluable. This feature keeps me from having to reach up to my dash and push any buttons on the camera. I can also view what the camera is seeing so that I can make adjustments to the placement and angle. The app also allows you to start and stop recording without having to touch the actual camera. My only complaint with it is that it seems to overheat very easily. Sitting on the dashboard it tends to get warm and then it shuts itself off and displays that it has become too hot. This happens on days when it is only about 70 degrees outside. That is the sole reason for not getting 5 stars. ... show more

This is the perfect "Point-and-Shoot" camcorder. I used it to film a company informational video, and couldn't be happier with the results. The one area that was lacking was the audio capabilities; this specific model lacks most (if not all) compatibility with audio recording accessories. This is unfortunate, as you are limited to the units built-in recording hardware, which lacks ambient filtering and noise reduction. Other than that, the Hero+ LCD is perfect for capturing action, motion and time-lapse, while also having great battery life. Note that the unit will get hot if shooting for extended periods of time, but was better when using the open backdoor. I am pleased with my purchase and would buy again. ... show more

I love the camera but am having a terrible time getting GoPro to answer my emails. I tried to get a USB to add an external mic and ordered one that was supposed to fit other GoPros but it didn't fit the GoPro Hero+LCD and so I asked Go Pro what can I do to plug in and external microphone and have heard nothing for 2 weeks. Other than that its a great little camera that has a moderate learning curve to be able to use it. It's so new that trying to get info on it is hard but as time goes on I am sure it will be easier.
