Get the JPC-12 baseplate, base, and grounding stake and you have all skywave capable bands both vertical and horizontal dipole for 2 - 40 meters, then stack it all vertically (in low wind) for a 80m vertical.

Wanting a antenna for mobility and easy set up. This antenna offers that option, for a few bucks more if you own any of the Yeasu rigs such as the FT 100D, 897D the ATAS 120a is a better fit. This antenna system is a little cumbersome after setup because it has a tendency to swing in the wind. The mounting area is a little difficult to find and match up. It uses a type of mount found on photography umbrellas and it is not as stable as a typical SO 239 type system found in mobile mounts you would encounter if you have Comet or Diamond antennas. The device that makes the transition from to wire to SO 239 is poorly designed. One would guess it is a type of balum, but there are no specs or literature on it in the packaging or online. The two wires that plug into the base are lite and the tension of your coax hanging is enough to have them pull away from their connection and the crimped connectors. Making for an issue later on this sealed unit. So be prepared to find an alternative way to create a new type of connector from SO239 to two wire in order for you to continue using this antenna. Otherwise it is going to turn into another group of parts for experiments in your junk box. The coils that create the elements have clips that are exposed and so be prepared to cleaning them should you decide to make this antenna permanently. They will become corroded in a short time period. Set up is relatively quick and easy and if you own an antenna turner, it will help in compensation for SWR issues, and switching bands from 20 meters to 30 meters type operations, without going out and moving the slides on coils to match up frequency. I have managed to make a contacts through week signal on 12,15 and 20 meters using 100 watts on FT8 with this antenna, but I have also done the same with a simple homebrew coiled antenna with a vertical whip. Living in a RV tests some of the extreme conditions in ham radio, but DX expositions do the same. Overall I give this antenna a four star rating for its build. Functionally it doesn't fair with other type antenna such as the ATAS or Coiled verticals past. Spend a little more on those time tested antennas. You will be happier and have a antenna that functions for years. 73 KA2SEY

Overall It is works great. The thing that really got me upset. I thought I could use it once I got it. No way to use this without a tripod. There wasn't anything on the site to say I may need a tripod. So- this sat on a shelf until I could get a tripod. It works ok- Without a tuner you will need to bring it down to change the settings to get it tuned.
