I used the pods for my seed starter tray. Soaked them in hot water for about 4 hours (to prevent any possible mold from growing) and they fit perfectly! Just added seeds and we'll see how they hold up but I don't foresee any problems.

This GoorDik pack for hydroponic growing is excellent at filling several needs at once. The sponge holes are perfectly aligned, the tweezers are a useful addition and the labels are good quality. I will definitely buy this pack again!

The growing media has outperformed other things I have tried so far. I have tried rockwool and sponges to get my seedlings started, but these grow sponges have worked very well. You can see in the picture that the plants on the right are outperforming the plants in the white sponges. The amazing thing is the plants in the grow sponges are almost two weeks younger than the low density white sponges. I am not using these in an AeroGarden as I have a different system, but with the results I am seeing, they should work just great. After my initial germination and growth test, I 3D printed little adapter disks to allow the grow sponges to fit into my system. I now have a tray of new seeds started and should see good results real soon. Part of hydroponic gardening is trying different things, and I am glad I gave these a shot. These may be my go to growth medium from now on.

These came just as shown. I use several hydroponic systems in my house, but all aerogarden. These replacements work just fine. They do seem to fill the seed starting holes more completely than the original seed starters. This appears to keep he water from evaporating as much and the sponges stay moist, whereas with the originals the sponges seem to dry out if the seed doesn't sprout right away. I'm not sure about how biodegradable these are; which is both something good and something bad. Good, because you want to be able to plant them and not have inorganic chemicals leach into the soil. Bad, because I personally will reuse any grow sponges that survive the planting.

We've been dabbling in hydroponic gardening and have successfully grown vegetables in everything from a bucket, to a storage bin, to a mailbox post, to even a recycled angel food cake container. However, getting the seeds started can be a hit-or-miss endeavor. We're very hopeful this product will up our chances of starting healthy seedlings. Unfortunately, I haven't any seedlings to start now but I hope to in the near future and will update this review with my results. From what I can see, these grow sponges are soft, absorbent, and exactly as described. The package these sponges came in also contained tweezers and little garden markers. Great stuff, all around!
