The built, the fit and finish, the screen, the keyboard, the touchpad, how it is still thin and light when it gets folded over, the amazing battery life and performance, most NVME (very fast) storage than other Chromebooks. The list goes on and on! This is the best Pixelbook money can buy in 2020 especially if you like to use a digital pen. I feel this one is best suited for digital artists who also want an amazing keyboard built into their Chromebooks. Chrome OS has really matured and is getting updates and features more than any other Apple OS and Windows. With Web Apps, Android Apps, and Linux built in you will have more ways to accomplish anything in this machine except perhaps heavy duty video editing. Google is even bringing Valve's Steam to the Linux side of Chrome OS for those who like to game. The main complian about this machine is that the pen does not fit I side the body of the machine. Well, I say that's its main advantage!!! The only other machine that comes close to this as of July 2020 is the Red Samsung Chromebook. That one has a horrible battery life relative to this one and its S pen is tiny because it fits inside the body of the device. That turns it's pen into a toy. Pixelbook's pen on the other hand fits perfectly well in my hand ssi hold it and I love that. I bought a nice carry bag for it that protects my precious Pixelbook. The carry bag has two front pouches. I keep the USB C power brick in one pocket and a Microsoft surface mouse, a USB C dongule/hub with multiple ports, and the pen in the other pocket. This way I always have all the necessary accessories with my Pixel book. The higher end models of Pixelbook Go are also great, except you can't use a Pen with the Pixelbook Go. The Pixelbook Core i7 512GB, Pixelbook Go, and the Red Samsung (if you don't mind the tiny stylous and lower battery life), all the only Chromebooks that compete with, and beat Apple and Microsoft in a game that they have had many years of headstart on.     • I can run Linux 18.04 with Steam on this Pixelbook!
If you want a versatile, user-friendly, fast, combination tablet/laptop that runs Google Play apps, this is a great product. Pros: - Rugged metal casing that also disperses heat - Runs Linux with some Steam games - Bright ,colorful, and clear display - Very fast - Light weight - Portable - Can extend desktop to another display with addition of a USB-C minidock (I'm using the UtechSmart 11-in-1 USB-C hub) - Touchpad is VERY responsive - Boots up VERY quickly (about 3-5 seconds from power-on to login screen) - Apps load quickly and internet surfing is very quick - Photos open quickly and can be edited on-the-fly - There are a large number of Apps already available that are geared toward the Chomebooks to take advantage of the more powerful processors/memory - Has Linux capability already built-in - Possible future support for Windows 10 (referred to as the eve-campfire project) Cons: - Some apps have minor visual glitches when switching between laptop mode and tablet mode (anticipate a fix with newer patches) - The left USB-C port occasionally stops working when I connect the mini dock to the left side port but is easily fixed with a hard shut down and restart ... show more

    • A dead end for your data- impossible to repair- very fragile - hard 'Do Not Trust'
Do not get me wrong, this was the slickest laptop I have ever owned. Best Keyboard ever. But it died with zero warning. No drops, no scuffs, nothing... electrons moving through the silicon broke the machine. Literally. It is that poorly built. Google cannot repair, they sent me to a ubreakifix... They (the repair shop) said Ubreakifix is not allowed to repair pixelbooks by their contract with google. They could only supply factory refurbished and that was at $285 more than I can find a new replacement for. Anything not backed up on the google cloud is gone as the encryption is tied to the processor (unlike alinux machine where you can decrypt the drive). The USB-C only ports make it extremely difficult to interface with thumb drives as there are no low profile USB-C thumb drives. DO NOT go this route. A slick machine, but incredibly fragile and not suitable for daily use with little to no functionality outside of the googleverse. Take a look at the Dell Ubuntu machines. Look at anything that says good keyboard... the glory of the pixelbook is the keyboard, everything else can be substituted by a very repairable machine. 12 years of a happy relationship with Google ruined by a really shoddily constructed device. They went from high trust to "begone satan" in on customer service moment. ... show more

    • Great all-rounder. Bullet-proof hardware.
I have the i7 512Gb Pixelbook and it is easily the best laptop I've ever touched. Better than the MS Surface or the Apple Macbook, absolutely rock solid hardware, brilliant flexibility, speed, reliability and security. And better value than those others, for the same spec. File browser app could be a little more fully-featured. Doesn't run full versions of Office apps (but mobile versions work great and cover 90% of what you need). In the grand scheme of things, these are minor drawbacks given the outstanding performance of this device in every other area. New bonus feature: turn on Linux support in the settings and you can install any Linux app as well as all the Chrome OS and Android apps. There is very little that this thing cannot do. ... show more

    • Disappointed
Initially, I was pleased with this computer. After 3 months of use, the computer is getting glitchy. I have to admit I demand a lot from my computers. Working on several projects at once, I might have 10 pages open for each project. Initially, this computer could handle it. But after 3 months of use, the keypad stopped working for a week. The claim that the computer will not slow down over time has not been my experience. The longer I have it the more things seem to be going wrong with it. I am however very impressed with my husband's new Lenovo Yoga 930. The fastest computer I've ever seen. I was hoping the Pixelbook would perform like that. Unfortunately, I don't like windows operating systems. If it hadn't of been for that, I would have returned this computer in a heartbeat and gotten a Lenovo. It just doesn't seem like there are any viable options out there these days for solid performance. That being said, I love Chromebooks so this is my third purchase. My first one was an Acer. I loved my Acer computer. Next was a Samsung. Very disappointed with the Samsung. Experienced some of the same problems I'm experiencing with the Pixelbook, but 10x's worse. After having owned 3 chromebooks from three different makers, what has become apparent is that some of the problems I'm experiencing are not hardware related, but program related. ... show more

    • Fun to use and fills a niche
I'll be honest. I didn't fully understand what I was getting when I ordered this Pixelbook, and buyer's remorse kicked in as soon as I clicked "Place your order." I had to carefully consider what I'd just done, and quickly, because this pricey piece of hardware would arrive the next day! I asked myself what in my current computing situation was lacking. My desktop suits my needs for heavy-duty photo editing and storage, but I am tired of being tethered to it for everything. My tablet has been a helpful friend, but its use is limited AND its battery is degrading quickly. I have never wanted to cart around a laptop, and I didn't think getting another tablet was the answer. I also wanted a good solution for travel, including photo backup capability. After watching and reading everything I could find about the Pixelbook and its rivals, I felt better about my snap decision. The recent price cut offered on Amazon was sweet, but the fact that it pairs so well with the Pixel phone which I recently switched to was also a big factor. It has great capacity for photo storage; however, I did have to buy a USB-C card reader to tap into it. (As yet, untested.) After spending a week with it, I now feel positive and pessimistic at the same time. My impression of the original Chromebook format from its inception was that it was limiting. That is less so now that it runs android apps. Since I won't need it to do everything and it's portable and fun to use, I think it nicely fills my technology gap. It is lightweight and sleek but also has the flexibility to work as a laptop or a tablet. The attached keyboard has a nice touch with raised bars on the f and j keys to help you find the right location. The pen is essential if you want to tap, write, or draw, especially if you snack on popcorn as you work in the afternoon. It’s very responsive when you click the power on button which is handy except for the times you accidentally hit it. My biggest concern is the battery. I was dismayed when my battery dropped by 10% off a full charge when it had been sitting on my shelf doing nothing after its first half a day. I turned off Bluetooth and the "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" setting, and it no longer loses charge when sitting unused for long periods. I’ve also learned to watch the screen brightness that is usually automatically set higher than I need it to be, and I switched off the keyboard backlighting. Another battery issue, however, is still worrisome. The calculated remaining battery life estimate is totally erratic. It’s quite disconcerting when you start up after a full charge, and it shows your battery life is around 2 hours. And then after a few minutes 6 hours, and after a few more minutes 4 hours, and so on. After doing a lot of research, I think this will even out and get more predictable as the battery is “broken in,” if there is such a thing with batteries. Now, on about my 3rd charge, I’m seeing higher estimates—9 and above—interspersed with the lower ones. I’ve learned about Crosh and how to check the battery with crosh commands. So, I’m feeling better but not yet totally confident. It’s been a big learning curve for me, but there is plenty of help available on the internet, especially on the product’s support site. At this point, I'd give it 5 stars as far as delivering the functionality I need, but 1 star until this battery life question is more settled. That should average out to 3 stars, but I going to give it 4 based on how much I like it. I hope the battery issue will work out. If it does, I’ll bump it up to 5. ... show more

I love this Chromebook, first the build quality and feel and touch are fantastic and one of the best keyboards I have experienced! This replaced a previous Chromebook, different brand and is great to use, though some of the android apps are still phone sized, though I know they were working on adaptation. There are a lot of great Chrome OS apps and the number is growing, but for everyday use or thin client as someone else stated it's great. I got the 512 gb which should last me a while and the response is lightning quick. I would highly recommend if you like Chromebook and want a premium experience. Smudges easily so you might want a cover or cloth. Battery dies pretty quick even in sleep mode. And for some reason doesnt stay connected to the internet when you fold it shut, but that could be a settings thing. Does not have a USB port so you may need a USB-C type adapter to use your flash drives as it only has two USB c ports, one on each side. Otherwise it does what it's supposed to VERY well and its wonderful for school being such a light compact design that boots up incredibly fast.
