Several reviews point out that the Pixel Tablet serves well for media consumption, light gaming, and smart home control. However, users also voice several gripes including challenges with an undocking system that seems to defy convenience, lack of orientation flexibility, uncomfortable fingerprint reader placement, and some software constraints. Should I Buy It?

If you're seeking a tablet for general use including media consumption, light gaming, and basic smart home control, the Google Pixel Tablet could be a decent choice. However, do take into account noted drawbacks such as an inconvenient undocking system and software quirks. It might not be recommended for users looking for a high-end, convenient-to-use tablet.

  • A decent tablet
Color: Porcelain Size: 128 GB Style: Pixel Tablet with Speaker Dock
I bought this to replace a Samsung tablet that had turned into a brick. So far, I am pleased with my purchase. Pros: Good battery life. After watching YouTube for hours and surfing the web, it lasts about a work day. Charges quickly on the docking speaker. USI stylus comparability. Good for Keep Notes note taking, drawing, and as a "mouse" Pictures and videos are clear. Docking speaker sounds good, and adds depth to music and video sound. Operating software is only about 15 gigs, so far. Easy to set up, and the Google accounts have synced across devices. The calendar widget is awesome! Cons: The cameras are lacking, but at 8 pm I'm not complaining. While drawing (with stylus or with finger) there is a minute lag from touch point on the screen to the drawing portion. I've tried to adjust it, but can't figure out how or if I'm able to. The pull up from the bottom of the screen to close open apps is a little slow, and sometimes doesn't register. This isn't really a con, but is odd: most apps aren't made for tablets, so they show up as a bar/phone like display when in landscape mode. You can move this display from the left, middle or right, and use multiple apps in split screen mode. It does run a little slower then, but isn't a deal breaker for me. Overall: I got this on a lightning deal, and am pleased. I would purchase again if I had to on lightning deal. The Hub screen is not like Nest Hub- it shows media, weather, etc... and is customizable, but doesn't have all of the Nest Hub features. This tablet is a good tablet for media consumption and a little more. I didn't receive the case I ordered with it, so cannot say anything about that. ... show more

  • A bit pricey but very nice
Color: Porcelain Size: 128 GB Style: Pixel Tablet with Speaker Dock
I know, I know, you can get better specced tablets for less money. But this is a purge android experience (no junk or bloatware) and it comes with a dock. We had a lenovo google display in the kitchen but it is a piece of junk so we replaced it with this. This works as a google home, shows our photos when docked but can also be easily lifted off the base and used for recipes in the kitchen or anything else, anywhere else. I got a deal on the tablet and case combined and I certainly recommend the combo. The tablet can be docked while still in the case and the case has a handy pop-out stand. Recommend. ... show more

  • Really Nice Tablet, Looking Forward to Future Updates
Color: Hazel Size: 128 GB Style: Pixel Tablet with Speaker Dock
I like this tablet a lot, and for the value, you get your money's worth. It is an 11" tablet, but feels very light, and thin, yet durable, which is nice! The system itself, I had some issues with it initially being kind of slow and laggy, but after I restarted it, it seems to be working just fine. I'm sure that some of that was just due to the initial updates and it getting up to speed. Has been working really well since then. A lot of nice features, and easy to set up (not much bloatware which is nice). The fingerprint reader is working just fine for me, and it is fast and efficient. It also does have good storage space, but is not expandable, so make sure you're paying attention to the size that you might need to grow into. Battery life seems to be holding up just well so far, and everything about it is working great. The only issue I have, is that I do feel like there are still some areas of improvement with updates in the future. For instance, one of the options is to have keypad and touch noises when you're using it (I like the little doots that you get when you're typing), but even with that enabled it's not making any noise. The other issue I'm seeing is that there is no option for the screen to go dark easily when it is docked to the hub. If you set a screen saver, which I like, because it can give you information on what the weather is, rotating wallpapers, whatever, it will not turn off on its own after a while. It just stays on that screen saver. You can turn the screen saver off entirely in the settings, and then the screen will go dark. But I was hoping for something more like the Google Hub, where you set it for your photos, or art, or whatever you choose to put on the resting screen, but there's also an option for it to turn off after a while. This either has screensaver option, or no screensaver at all if you actually want the screen to turn off while it's docked. Other than that it's probably one of the best tablets that I've used, so I am still very happy with it. And even with those faults, I would still highly recommend it to anyone who's interested! ... show more
