This is the perfect size reel for trolling with a straight butt pole or even a bent butt. It's not near as big as the 80 which is a tank. Very smooth and powerful.

Just received my hx 80w seems pretty solid for the price I paid super loud clicker going to be using this reel for land based shark fishing so it will get put through some tests over summer will post updates when I get the chance to take it out. UPDATE: after about 2 trips the drag would continuously lose its presets and would have to be continuously readjusted while our baits were out soaking. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this reel for anyone wanting a reel for lbsf plenty of better used options out there for the same price or for a little more brand new. ... show more

Everything seemed great, I just seem to have something wrong with the handle when I’m reeling it in. When I start and stop the handle has like a 1/8 of and inch slack spot. This causes the handle to make a sound and has gotten annoying. Is this common?

Bought 2 to complete a set of bent butts. Smooth drag, excellent retrieve and very well built. I wouldn't even consider these entry level reels. They are that good. Lined em with 120# hollow core braid followed by 100# mono top shot. I'd highly recommend these reels.

The reel looked ,felt and seamed to function well. I would not trust it to lo last long in a saltwater environment. To cover thier A@#, the instructions say to make sure to clean the reel after every use. Those that would use this reel know that salt will work its way into anywhere it can to start corrosion. With inspection of the reel with a magnet, the reel seat and chank handle shaft were highly magnetic This leaves the question of what the internal components are made from. ... show more
