View minor things that are wrong with the Reel but looking at the Price point I won't bicker around. Caught plenty of decent fish with this reel. Only suggestion I have is don't try this Pup on a bluefin tuna expedition. Tight lines everyone

    • Failed on 3rd use
Have only used three times to troll. On bringing the line in the reel started to hang up on the higher speed. It got so bad we couldn’t reel past the spot where it sticks. Switched to low speed and we got it felled in but it also started to stick badly. Contacted Gomexus and they said we have to pay to send the reel in for inspection and fixing and pay to send it back. Living on the other side of the country this will be very expensive. In the end we got basically no use out of the reel and could have got a name brand better reel for the total cost of this piece of crap after having to send it back. You’d think they would want to make it right protect/establish their reputation. Don’t buy this junk. Just spend a couple extra hundred and go with an established brand. ... show more

I ordered this reel and was somewhat reluctant because of the price. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by its size. It is much larger than expected. I used it for the first time today and again, I was surprised at how well it worked. I highly recommend this for anyone fishing out deep or for bluefin tuna. ... show more

So this HX80 reel holds 940 yards of 200# Braid, we used Diamond Braid. According to our calibrated scale we were able to get 93lbs of drag at strike The reel is well built, bearings and drag system feel solid but the product is not as advertised. For the price point it is worth having around and using but don’t expect 1740 yards of 200# braid and don’t expect 132lbs of drag. ... show more
