  • Easy to hang and easy to look at
Size: 10x7ft Single Layer Impact Screen
I’ve been gradually assembling the parts of my garage golf simulator, and I’m happy to say that the screen is sorted! As a professional AV geek for 30 years, I’ve purchased, set up, adjusted, used, and taken down plenty of projection screens in my time. There is more to them than just providing a white surface to protect on. With good screens, the image is crisp, bright, and high contrast. Bad ones look washed-out and are hard on the eyes, even when using a good projector. I didn’t have high hopes for this screen when I first pulled it out of the packaging. The material was lightweight, and there was no indication of front vs. back and no discernible difference between the sides. But it seems that both sides of this screen have a coating that renders a great image and takes nothing away from the quality of the projector and image source. Image quality expectations are lower for a golf sim than they are for a movie room, but I was very impressed with the quality of the projected image. Even with creases still in the screen from shipping, the image was impressive. (The image in the attached photos is a stock photo, projected from my laptop through my 4500 lumen 1080p projector. The only light is from the projector itself.) I hung the screen from a 10x7 frame normally used with an outdoor hitting net, but you really want a full netting above, behind, and to the sides of the screen. There are grommets around the outside and six small bungee loops to make this easier. One challenge for golf simulators is deciding how and how much to tension the screen. Normal projection screens aim to minimize distracting creases and other surface irregularities, but hitting a golf ball at a tightly tensioned screen will cause the ball to bounce back wildly. You need enough horizontal tension to keep the screen flat and a loose vertical drape to absorb and dissipate the energy of the golf balls. Since this screen isn’t heavy enough to do this with gravity alone, you’ll need to attach the bottom corners loosely so it can’t move too far. I hit a few balls into the screen with a driver, and it absorbed the strike just fine. Between the sound of a TaylorMade driver and the sound of the ball hitting the screen, it was surprisingly loud. Some of that would be absorbed by a larger hitting mat, but I made a note that sound-absorbing material around the garage may be something I want to add later. The biggest unknown at this point is how durable this screen will be with dozens and dozens of golf balls hitting it at full speed during each session. Time will tell, but at the current price of $62, it’s not unreasonable to consider this a consumable that needs to be replaced periodically. That’s still for one of the least expensive parts of a golf simulator. ... show more

  • Turned Our Space Into a Really Nice Home Golf Setup
Size: 10x7ft Single Layer Impact Screen
We wanted a more complete setup for practicing golf at home, and this enclosure has worked out really well. Once everything was assembled, I was impressed by how substantial the steel frame felt and how much more finished the whole practice area looked. The HD impact screen is probably my favorite part. It gives us a large, clean surface for the simulator image, but it also handles regular practice shots well. The light-blocking design makes a noticeable difference when using the projector because there’s less distracting light around the screen and the picture is easier to see. I also really appreciate the side netting. I’m definitely not hitting every shot perfectly, so having that extra coverage on the sides gives me a lot more confidence when taking a full swing. It helps contain those occasional shots that don’t go exactly where I planned. Assembly does take some time because this is a fairly substantial setup. We found it much easier with two people, especially when putting together the frame and getting the screen positioned correctly. Once everything was tightened and adjusted, though, the enclosure felt stable and looked great. There’s plenty of room for practicing with different clubs, and it’s nice having a dedicated area where we can work on our swings regardless of the weather. Pros: * Sturdy steel frame * Large HD impact screen * Light-blocking design improves the simulator experience * Side netting provides extra coverage for off-center shots * Works well with a projector and compatible launch monitor * Plenty of room for full swings * Creates a clean, finished-looking golf area * Great option for practicing at home year-round Cons: * Assembly is much easier with two people. * You’ll need a good amount of dedicated space, so definitely measure your room, garage, or practice area before ordering. Final Verdict: I’m really happy with how this golf enclosure turned out. It feels sturdy, the impact screen looks great, and the side netting is especially appreciated when my swing isn’t quite cooperating. It has made practicing at home much more enjoyable and gives the whole setup a more complete simulator feel. If you have the space for it and want to build a dedicated home golf area, this has been a great addition. ... show more

  • Yard-to-Bay Upgrades: A Soft-Impact Simulator Screen That Works!
Size: 10x7ft Single Layer Impact Screen
Sturdum Golf Simulator Projection Screen Why It Works: Quiet, Soft-Impact Feel: Unlike the stiff, rigid screens you find at professional setup bays, this screen has more flexibility, so golf balls don’t whack as hard against it when you take a full swing. Reinforced Grommets & Ball Bungees: Features sturdy grommets along the edges and comes with ball bungee cords included, making installation onto a frame quick and secure. Crisp Projector Surface: The bright, solid white surface displays golf simulator graphics clearly for a great indoor or yard setup. Accurate Sizing: The dimensions match the item description perfectly, fitting right into the intended space without awkward slack. Need to Know: Single-Layer Polyester Build: As noted in the product details, it's crafted from reinforced single-layer polyester, which gives it that lighter, more flexible bounce-back compared to multi-layer commercial screens. Final Verdict A reliable, budget-friendly projection screen that gets the job done for home golf simulator setups without the harsh rebound of a rigid screen. If it matches the size and price point you're looking for, it will serve your simulator needs well. I definitely recommend it! (Pro tip: If you want to fine-tune the tension and bounce-back for your driver vs. irons, you can adjust the spacing of the included bungee cords around the frame.) ... show more

  • Super thin single-layer screen — Keep your old backdrop handy!
Size: 10x7ft Single Layer Impact Screen
If you're looking for a heavy-duty, light-blocking commercial simulator screen, keep scrolling. This Sturdum 10x7 is strictly an ultra-thin single layer. As you can see in my basement setup photos, ambient light bleeds right through it. If you have any backlighting or open space behind your frame, your projector image is going to look washed out. What the Manual Doesn't Tell You: Package Contents: You get the raw screen and a pack of bungee ball grommets. There is no frame or piping included, so have your EMT conduit or enclosure ready. Light Bleed: Because of the thin knit, you cannot run this in front of open basement windows or bright background walls without seeing ghosting. Noise Factor: A single thin layer gives you that classic loud "thwack" instead of a muted "thud." The Pro-Tip Hack: Don't throw away your old, beaten-up simulator screen! Hang this Sturdum screen directly in front of your old canvas. The double layer completely kills the light bleed, sharpens your 1080p/4K picture, and deadens the ball strike sound significantly. Good budget replacement skin, but only if you know how to back it properly. ... show more

  • Turned my garage into a legit golf room in one afternoon
Size: 10x7ft Single Layer Impact Screen
My garage has been half storage, half wasted space for years, and this finally gave me a reason to clean it out. Assembly took me about two hours working alone, and the steel tubing went together without any fighting or forcing. Everything lined up the way it should, which honestly surprised me for something at this price. The screen is where it really shines. My projector throws a bright, sharp picture onto it, and the colors hold up well even with the garage lights partially on. Ball flight and contact read clearly, and my launch monitor picks up everything without confusion. Been hitting driver into it for about six weeks now, full swings, no babying it, and the fabric shows no signs of stretching or wearing thin. Noise was my biggest worry since my son's room sits above the garage. It's a solid thud rather than a sharp crack, and he sleeps through evening sessions without a problem. The bungee cords do a good job keeping tension even across the whole surface, and the grommets feel reinforced enough that I'm not worried about them tearing loose. Dimensions gave me plenty of margin for the occasional wild shot too. For what a single round costs around here, this thing paid for itself pretty fast. My handicap has dropped two strokes since I started practicing regularly again. ... show more

  • Transform your home into to perfect hangout place
Size: 10x7ft Single Layer Impact Screen
Transforming your home into the perfect hang-out place isn’t always easy, but this golf simulator screen definitely helps! Instantly because the place that my friends and family wanted to hangout, with a nice little set up of golf, drinks, and snacks, you can have all the fun in the world without ever leaving your home. There’s some features about this item specifically that make it worth the money. The first is that it comes with some extra netting on the sides, this can give you peace of mind that you’re not hitting a stray ball and breaking something in your home. The second is that it’s easy to understand how to set it up and the framing on it seems extremely well manufactured. The third is the quality of the screen itself, it displays the projected image so clearly and absorbs the impact of the ball incredibly well. ... show more
