I used this GoldPeak hardware cloth to enclose a large outdoor chicken coop, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. From quality to ease of use, it was exactly what I needed to keep my flock safe and secure. Pros: • Strong and Secure: The 19 gauge wire is tough but workable. It held shape well and provided a solid barrier that even raccoons and other critters won’t get through. • True to Size, Consistent Grid: The 1/2 inch mesh was uniform and flat across the entire roll. This made lining it up on framing super easy, with no warping or irregular gaps. • Rust Protection: I appreciate that it’s hot-dip galvanized after welding, which is the gold standard for long-term outdoor use. I expect this to hold up for many years even with weather exposure. • Easy to Work With: Despite being heavy-duty, I was able to cut and staple it with standard tools. It wraps cleanly around corners and edges without unraveling or snapping. • Looks Great Installed: The clean lines and uniform structure made my coop look polished and professionally built. It feels secure, durable, and well-finished. Real-Life Use: I’m currently using this mesh to protect our chickens—you can see from the photos how it covers the run area. It provides peace of mind knowing nothing can get in or out, and the visibility through the mesh is great for monitoring the birds. Verdict: If you’re building a chicken coop, garden fence, or even a tree guard setup, I highly recommend this hardware cloth. It’s rugged, reliable, and priced fairly for the quality.

My husband ordered this GoldPeak 1/4-inch hardware cloth to redo our chicken run and he highly recommends it. It’s been his go-to material for these kinds of projects. What he likes: • Strong 23-gauge galvanized construction that holds up well outdoors. • Small 1/4-inch mesh keeps predators out while allowing good airflow. • Easy to work with and cut for custom runs or enclosures. • Good-sized roll for larger projects. If you’re building or reinforcing chicken runs, coops, or garden protection, this is excellent quality. Highly recommend!

This was good looking material. We used it in our raised beds in our garden. We have 10 raised beds in a garden. This should keep the animals from getting into the plants from underneath. We are also going to use this around the shed to keep the animals from getting under there.

An update; The company has been very awesome and understanding resolving our issues. We were offered a prompt response and resolved the issues quickly. I don't think this will keep my ducks safe while they are in their pen. Will need supervision. My husband managed to kick a hole right through it while we were installing. Will not purchase more of this, may have to use for another project.

I used this to animal-proof a new shed. It's been 2 years (hence why I waited to provide a proper review) and has held up extremely well. No rust, no corrosion, and nothing has been able to penetrate the cloth to this point. I trenched deeper than the foundation to fan out so no animals can dig under the foundation and would recommend the same approach if you are purchasing for that purpose. It may have been overkill but this was a project I only wanted to do once. I also treated myself to an 18v staple gun for this project and would strongly recommend anyone embarking on such a project do the same as it was a life/thumb-saver. After application, I went back over the exposed foundation with decorative lattice to improve the aesthetic and did not have any issues applying over the hardware cloth. This was a great purchase for this project.
