My wife used this wire to make trellises for her hoya vines. It's a decent thickness but flexible enough to not bounce back at you and poke your eye out when cutting. The included gloves and wire cutter are a bonus and made it easy to cut and attach to the buried posts. She also made some "cages" to keep her green onion stalks upright. It's often windy at our house and the stalks bend over all the time. By keeping them upright, they'll stay clean. ... show more

First of all the hardware cloth is not 16 gauge as advertised; it's closer to 18 or 20 gauge. The coating on the wire is fairly nice, the overall width is 24 inches, and each square is 1 inch wide. However, many of the weld points were already separated before I even unrolled the hardware cloth and each square in the length direction is actually 1 1/8 inch which makes it difficult to build animal cages. If using for fencing this product may work fine but I would not recommend for animal cages. ... show more

I had purchased similar vinyl-coated wire - at least by the description - from a farm supply company previously. I needed 10 more feet, but this was the only product I could find on Amazon that was 1 inch square, black-vinyl-coated welded wire. The gauge if very light. Perhaps it is 16 gauge as they state, but my previous wire was much heavier. The real problem, as stated in other reviews, is that the wire arrives with much of this very, very thin vinyl already gone, exposing much of the welded wire to the elements. They either used extremely cheap vinyl, or put the coating on as a micro-thin layer. My previous wire stayed in place without rusting for over 3 years. To my knowledge, it is still in place and still not rusted. This wire will no doubt rust and deteriorate in short order. I really don't recommend this wire. You can find a much better product elsewhere. For completeness, I used this wire to prevent our small dogs from exiting our yard through the faux-wrought-iron fence. It is mounted using more zip black zip ties than any sane person would use. It is fit for this purpose, but will likely need to be replaced within a few years. Luckily, it came in 50 foot lengths, and I will only need to replace ten feet at a time, so maybe I have 10 years worth of welded wire (10 feet every two years). The advertisement says for outdoor use and the product is galvanized steel. I set it up around the perimeter of my fence and half of it has disintegrated. I reached out to the manufacturer and they declined to help. First they blamed it that I must have broken the seal of galvanization? And that I could have acid rain. I live in florida no acid rain here, and I broke the seal? Dude I must have broken a lot of seals if there is rust on every section of the wire fence. The actual picture of it on the amazon advertisement says RUST PROOF. Amazon also declined to help. I have real galvanized screws that hold up my real perimeter fence and those have never rusted. Stay away from this, they are trying to sell you galvanized steel and giving you worthless metal..... what's most sad is that amazon refuses to step in this ... show more
