Got my safe today and so far, it's ok for what it is. For the price, this is not as secured as a safe that costs hundreds, if not thousands of dollars more, so don't expect Fort Knox level security. But for its basic function it serves its purpose. Setup was very easy to do with the digital programming of your combination. I had that done within 5 minutes. And it does use 4 AA batteries that you install in a compartment on the back of the door. It comes with 2 keys to open the safe without the use of the digital keypad. Useful if the batteries die and the electronic method is not available, or you forgot your combination, or if the electronics fail. And for this very reason, do NOT put these keys in the safe itself. Keep them in a separate secured location for when needed. Overall, I would not store hundreds of thousands of dollars in it, nor keep your gold bars/bullion in it. Like all other similarly priced safes, it only offers BASIC security. With this type of safe, it would not take very much effort to open it by a skilled, determined thief. However, it is a good deterrent to the casual thief or a family member looking to get in. The walls of the safe were surprisingly thin, but they serve its purpose. The deadbolts are of good quality and ensure that the door is closed and locked tight. The floor mounting and wall mounting hardware included is a bonus to make the safe not as easy to carry away. Overall, the safe does weight about 5 pounds, so it does have some substance to it, but also would not take much effort to cart it away unless it's mounted on the floor or wall. So, yeah. This is a fairly good safe for its intended purpose. But if your goal is to have more security, then this safe, and others like it, may not be a good fit for your needs. Overall, for BASIC security of your valuables, wallets, credit cards, ect, it will serve the purpose.

Really love this compact safe. My boys love their devices but I am over them sneaking them out of my room to use, so this is a oerfect way to keep them locked and away when I don’t want them in use. For reference, this fits two Nintendo Switches, two phones, and a DS with room to spare.

Now, go figure a 40$ safe is not going to be Fort Knox and you can’t expect it out of this. This photo is of the safe at 2 months old with regular use. You can set 2 codes for the safe, and this is more of if someone wants in they are going to have to break it open, so if your getting this to keep relatives out of your stuff I’d consider this, having to break it open is a decent deterrent. The tab to slide the lock bolts in place is plastic and is considerably loose, meaning if someone trying to force it open it would snap off with not a lot of pressure leaving it locked. It’s not hard to break in, someone can open it with a screw driver and 2 mins of time. But for what it costs and the features and functionality they have in it I’d definitely recommend this as a beginner safe, something for kids or to keep relatives out of your things. In the case you are robbed, this safe won’t be all that reliable. It can be torn off the wall, or busted open with minimal time. But great beginner safe.

The media could not be loaded. Purchased this safe not too long ago, and it was working fine at first. After only 3 months of use it got stuck and stopped opening. After trying for hours and twisting the lock to the point of breaking it still would not open. The key (which we had used prior and never had an issue with) didn’t even work. I don’t know what happened but we ended up having to literally saw it open and risk ruining the valuables inside. I would not recommend this to anyone—just save yourself the headache and buy somewhere else.
