The style and color of the vent look perfectly fine, I like the little adjustment lever, it’s easy to reach and maneuver. I was a bit surprised to see it looked like they fitted some sort of white fabrics filter beneath the fins for some reason? I’ve never seen something like that before. It would’ve been fine to leave it in, but doing so meant that whether I closed or opened the fins you couldn’t tell if it was open or closed. So I removed whatever the filter thing was so I could actually tell if the fins are open or closed. It felt a bit silly and pointless to begin with, but it’s fine. This is a good choice you need to stop air flow from a vent. Most floor registers have a damper to control air flow. This one has a very easy-to-operate air-flow control. The control turns so easily. When closed, the air flow is really shut off completely. It is much better than any other I have tried. But when opened, I don’t think it allows as much air flow. This could be because of the foam layer that is encased in the register. I did not try to remove it, but I think you could easily. You’ll need a small Phillips screwdriver. The other thing that is good about this register is its low profile. Where I have it installed, a door must clear it. (See photo.) This one is thin enough for that, some others I have tried are not. I’m not sure if I like the looks of it yet. The top is metal, but it reminds me of plastic that is painted for some reason. (See the close-up photo.) I’m still deciding about the looks. This is a 10 second install upgrade from an old, thicker, bent metal vent cover. I guess the outer perimeter of this is slightly smaller than the old one, as the hole in the floor shows just slightly more. However, it's still a worthy upgrade as the metal one was a trip hazard, and was causing problems for the robot vacuum. This lays much flatter and blends in fine with the floor. It also had a dust filter inside, which is good to keep things from dropping down into the vent shaft. It isn't and doesn't really look or feel like real wood, but still, overall, solid replacement if you like the look. ... show more

Overall this is an attractive replacement floor vent. At ten years old our existing guest bathroom vent was showing its age with rust pits and all. With this being made out of aluminum we shouldn't have that problem. From an engineering perspective I have a problem with the small slits compared to my old unit decreasing the air flow. Right away I removed the filter and the internal flow control piece because of this (removed the 4 small phillips screws and to get at them). Over this modification, compared to the old one the flow seems the same with my unscientific palm test to feel for air flow. I never had a problem with my kids messing with their floor registers or throwing stuff down through them (at least not that I know of). Based on the flow issue I'm knocking this down a star, otherwise it works as advertised and for the sub 20 dollar price, you can't beat it. ... show more

I am cracking up over the listing description. Before reviewing, I wanted to make sure the product is as described.. That’s when I see the final bullet: • Give a piece of tissue paper as a gift and don't need to buy it separately for a short time Next, I was confused by the white fabric inside the vent, which is another reason I went back to the listing and I now understand this bullet: • Narrow and long hole design can prevent young children's fingers or toes from getting stuck inside and won't drop debris The cottony piece is to prevent debris from falling into the vent. This also explains the listing photo that I didn’t realize was illustrating the product layers! I’m not sure how this will impact airflow, but we’ll see… Overall, the register has a flat profile and has some weight being metal, but not too heavy. I like it. ... show more

The thin flat design looks better than the brand I have been using from Home Depot. It easily fits the openings in my hardwood floor. I don't care for the filter material inside the register; seems like that just restricts the airflow more. I ordered the "golden" finish but what I got was more a chocolate brown color. ... show more

I got this to replace an old style register that is right in the line of traffic and gets broken quite often from stepping on it. It fits perfectly and is strong enough that stepping on it does not hurt it. The vent cover has some sort of filter in it to keep debris from falling into the duct work. It does cut down on some of the airflow. I am happy with the vent cover but I am not sure about the filter material. I gave this vent 4 Stars. I am not sure if the vent lasts a lifetime or has to be changed periodically. Overall it works great so far but I do wish it had better instructions so you can know if the filter should be changed or needs to be completely thrown away. Right now it works great! ... show more
