  • Modification Required to Lock in DeWalt Table Saw's Guide!
I used this jig to rip more than 300 ft of edging for plywood shelving, AFTER I figured out how to lock it in my DeWalt table saw's standard 3/4" slot track. From watching the video before purchasing, it appeared there was some kind of eccentric or deforming bar on the bottom of the jig that would jam in the saw's slot when the two nuts were tightened down. But I couldn't make it work. The documentation was zero help. There are two T-head bolts with the allen wrenches in the spare parts bag and while they were not wide enough to catch on the slight lip of my saw's slot, they gave me the idea of adding washers so they could. I flattened the sides of two fender washers I had on-hand and installed them in place of the jig's sliding bar so I could get on with my cutting. It wasn't pretty (see photo) but the jig remained tightly locked and worked as advertised. I see some other unfavorable reviews of this otherwise fine tool, which is a shame since it could be easily fixed with adding a few washers to the parts bag or simply improving the instructions. ... show more

  • Does not fit DeWalt DW745 - Neat idea otherwise
Sloppy in the slot if my DeWalt contractor saw, even with the tension knob fully locked down. Ended up returning this, which is kind of a bummer. Looks decent otherwise.

  • Awesome tool for my shop
I have seen tools like this from the big brand name guys but could not justify the price for what it is and does. Since this is a tool that you probably would not use a lot, I decided to make my own very simple version of this with some "Magswitch" blocks that I had. This worked but being that it attaches to the top of the table saw and not on the miter slot, there is always a margin for error. With this gadget you use it in your miter slot and so you all but eliminate that margin for error. This tool is extremely well made and solid. I am sure I will get many years of use from this tool. The one-way bearing works great and really does help with preventing kickback. That in my mind is the selling point of this tool. There are some micro adjustments that can be made for precise and repeatable cuts. All the adjustments are super smooth, and the needed Allen wrench is included with the tool. There are measurement scales etched in the main body of the tool which are very easy to read. All the parts are very well machined and there were no jagged edges that needed to be filed or sanded. I always like to make a small scale model of things I am going to build. I find it helps with figuring out the problems that I will run into when I go to build the full scale version later. I am working on some cabinets that my neighbor asked me to build for her beauty salon, so I was able to use this tool/ jig to make the face frame pieces for the small-scale model. It worked so well and since your thin strips fall off the left side of the blade and not trapped between the blade and the fence it is much safer than my home-made jig. With less chance of kick back due to the one-way bearing this is an easy product to give 5 stars to. I am very happy that I ordered this and can definitely recommend it. I am already making space on my garage wall to store it... ... show more

  • Works pretty well, with some caveats
I've wanted a thin-rip jig for a while, so I was looking forward to getting this. And it met all my (admittedly pretty basic) expectations. The Good: The build quality. It's a solid aluminum, which looks like it will last a good while. The adjustment knobs aren't very big, but they are textured well, and I didn't have any significant issues with tightening them down. As I was using it, I was worried that I would experience some minor slippage, making my thin rips gradually thicker, but I didn't notice anything of the sort. I did notice that the jig will move in the miter slot if only one of the miter knobs is tight, but once both of them are screwed down, the jog is pretty solidly in place. The Bad: Not much. The measurement markings are somewhat silly, as there isn't really anything for them to reference off of, so they don't really mean anything, other than a way to match a previous setup, assuming you are using the same equipment and remember/record what numbers you were lined up with the last time. The Meh: The one-way roller on the end works smoothly, but it certainly won't prevent any kind of kickback. This isn't really a defect so much as it's a stupid marketing ploy. I still set up a feather board in front of the jig, which was difficult, as my DeWalt table saw doesn't have a lot of room in front of the blade to work with, and my feather board is pretty wide. But it worked out okay. Overall, I'm glad I have this thing, and I'll be getting plenty of use out of it in the future. ... show more

  • Nicely Built Jig That Improves Safety, But Mine Arrived Assembled Backwards
This is a really well-built item that helps make it safer to cut thin strips on the table saw. The wheel only turns in one direction, so it helps prevent kickback in addition to keeping your fingers away from the cutting portion of the blade. This stymied me initially, because my jig was assembled backwards at the factory, and the contact wheel would only turn in the wrong direction. I was able to verify the backwards state by looking at the instruction manual. Sure enough, it showed the jig in the opposite orientation. It's not hard to remove the retaining plates and re-orient the arm to be on the correct side, but this is not a ringing endorsement of quality control at the factory. Other than that, fit and finish is quite good, the parts fit precisely and feel like they will last a long time. It really is better in that regard than I expected. I'd have liked to give this 3.5 stars since I had to do a little extra work to make it operate as intended, but since I don't have that option I rounded up to 4 stars since stilI feel this is a quality item for the price. I'll be happy to have it in my toolbox for those times I need to rip small pieces of wood very near to the the table saw blade. ... show more
