  • Go Pet Club 52" Compact Cat Tree - Both Kitties Love It
Color: Beige
The media could not be loaded. The Go Pet Club 52" Compact Cat Tree is fairly easy to assemble, though not as easily as some others I have assembled in the past due to the strange angle of some of the screws. I do like that there was a Philips head on the Allen wrench that was included. That did make assemble a tad easier. It seems quite sturdy. It didn't wobble when both cats started playing on it together. The platforms are also soft & fluffy. I was able to assemble it myself, so that's a plus. It's a good value and the critters seem to like it. 4.5 stars from me :) ... show more

  • Excellent cat condo with one or two nitpicky minor issues.
Color: Beige
tl;dr -- Excellent quality, cat loved it right away, pretty easy construction, 50-inch height makes it easy to fit in most living areas. However, the mouse toys are easily destroyed, the front ladder could be a little more securely fastened, and the enclosed hiding spot and middle platform are a little bit narrow / tiny for older / bigger cats. We don't think any of these cons are really that important though and would recommend even for an older / bigger cat. Review: Our three-year-old cat immediately loved this item. He took a few days to get used to it and was a little hesitant to climb up on the very top platform at first, but now he frequently climbs it, perches on the upper platforms, and sleeps on various parts. The small covered hiding spot is a little on the small side. Our cat is pretty skinny so he fits inside without any trouble, but I can definitely imagine that some older or bigger cats will feel too uncomfortable to stay inside it. The covered spot has two openings though, so a bigger cat would probably just use it as an infrequent spot to pass through. Our cat has never been a big fan of the cylindrical scratching post columns, but he does use them for climbing on this item, especially when we dangle a toy on the platforms and he is fixated on getting the toy. That said, I wouldn't expect your cat to take immediately to the scratching columns unless you know your cat already likes those kinds of scratching posts. The assembly was pretty easy. It comes with an Ikea-like allen wrench and some screws. You can assemble 90% of it with just your hands and then you just need to tighten the screws. My only construction-related quibble: the bracket that is used to secure the front step-ladder to the main unit could be a little more secure. If our cat knocks against the ladder with enough force, it will shift slightly to one side or the other. It's not enough to cause a problem for the cat, but still it would be nice if it was completely stable. We selected this item because it is only about 50-inches tall. Since we live in a small apartment, we didn't want something that was over 6 feet tall and took up a great deal of living space. We are very happy with the size of this item. The footprint on the floor is not too large -- it comfortably sits in our living room without disrupting anything. And the height is not too tall. Our cat can jump down from the tallest platform with no risk of injury, and we don't have to reach upward in order to pick him up or set him down on the top platforms. The major downside of this item is that the plastic mouse toys are easily destroyed. Within minutes of jumping on the item for the first time, our cat promptly put one of the mouse toys in his mouth and jumped down -- which caused the elastic strap to break, and our cat proudly sauntered off to continue chewing and destroying the now-disconnected mouse toy. Within an hour he had done the same thing to the other mouse toy. Our cat is pretty picky about toys, so the fact that he was really interested in the mouse toys was surprising. We decided to just cut off the broken elastic straps (so he couldn't chew / eat them) but we kept the mouse toys. Now we tie them to the end of some of the cat's ribbon toys and he gets really excited to chase them around the room. So even though they were easy to break apart from the main unit, we're still getting good use out of the toys. For us, that's not much of a problem, but if you really want the attached toys to have sturdy construction, this might not be the right item for you. ... show more

  • Cat loves it
Color: Beige
Entire time I was building it the cat was climbing on it,scratching the posts and playing with it. Seems sturdy to me although may bolt it to the floor later. Seems like it was worth the $50 I paid for it!

  • Great Kitty Condo
Color: Beige
I've had this for about three months. To give you an idea of what my two little beasts are like, Lucky is the mean one. He is not friendly, but he is like that in a non-confrontational sort of way. He is as gentle as a teddy bear when he plays, and he he has never acted viciously towards me in any capacity. When he kneads his paws, his claws look like they are 5" long and could shred through sheet metal without any effort. He accidentally scratches me on a fairly consistent basis. He really is a terrifying cat. It's a good thing he is so gentle. Azrael, on the other hand, is the lovable one. She will cuddle and snuggle all day long, purring to her heart's content and gently kneading her paws. I never see her claws, but I know what kind of damage she can to. When she plays, she goes all out. Within about six months of bringing her home from the shelter, she had destroyed all of the community kitty toys that she had a passing interest in. I've had her with me about 8 months, and she has already destroyed two scratching posts. When I buy cat stuff for these beasts, especially for Azrael, the thought is that they are disposable. If Azrael likes a toy, she will destroy it. It's how she wins whatever game she is playing. My first thought when I got this home was that the little dangly mice would not last a week. I figured that the whole tower would last about six months. And that's fine because I'd rather spend $60 to $70 every six months for a new Kitty Condo then $600 to $700 every six months for a new sofa. I've had this thing for three months now, and the dangly mice are still there. That's even more amazing considering the fact that Azrael goes absolutely crazy over this thing. She likes to lie down on top of the little alcove with her body contorted around the post. She has found a way to play with both dangly mice while scratching both posts all at the same time. I would say that over the last three months, she has spent the majority of her non-sleeping time on this thing. Azrael is a great cat. She is the only cat I have ever lived with who actually uses the stuff I buy for her. Her love of this Kitty Condo, though, has far surpassed anything I could have ever expected. I was looking at it today, and the scratching posts seem to be weathering quite well. Lucky, on the other hand, just likes to sit and watch Azrael play. The truth is, I think he's too big for it, so that's something folks might want to watch out for. Lucky is about 14 pounds. I would say that is just a hair too big. ... show more
