  • Definitely worth it, works great, compact design, 10/10 would buy again
Absolutely wonderful self contained eGPU. The hardware is locked out from over clocking, however that makes sense due to the heat dispersion requirements. For anyone having issues getting it to boot. Boot safe mode with it unplugged, and run display driver uninstaller. Do a full uninstall of previous AMD video drivers. Plug in the eGPU and boot normally, proceed to update AMD drivers. USB4 works as well as oculink, however oculink is MUCH faster. It easily outpaced my previous eGPU I built from parts, using a Rx 580 XT that was pushed to it's a absolute limits overclocking wise. Heat displacement is much lower than traditional GPU cards in an enclosure, as it splits the heat between the power brick and the unit. Funnily the power brick is heavier than the eGPU, which is important as it shows the more serious power stability needed to keep the eGPU working properly. The price and ease of using it, transporting it, and having multiple display outputs makes this a very solid purchase. It's cheaper than building your own equivalent eGPU enclosure and graphics card, and is much smaller and manageable than a built enclosure. You do surrender the ability to swap in a different card, but again with the price, it does its job better than any other option under 800$ ... show more

  • Compact performance!
The media could not be loaded. I picked up the GMKtec AD-GP1 External GPU Docking Station with its built-in AMD Radeon 7600M XT GPU to give my mini PC a bit more graphics muscle without hauling around a full desktop tower, and it’s been a great fit for my casual gaming needs. Setup was as simple as plugging in the USB4 cable, installing the drivers, and firing up Quake Champions. Over USB4, I’m running Quake Champions at 4K with medium settings and 50% upscale, hitting over 100 fps. I know I’m not tapping into everything this card can do—switching to the OCuLink port (which offers twice the bandwidth of USB4) should push frame rates even higher and smooth out any remaining stutters. I plan to upgrade my mini PC to one with OCuLink support soon and will update this review with before-and-after numbers, but even on USB4 the performance boost is clear compared to the onboard graphics. Physically, the AD-GP1 is impressively compact and fits neatly next to my monitor. It doesn’t dominate my workspace the way my old tower did. The fan stays fairly quiet under load—you’ll hear it spin up during intense sessions, but it never becomes distracting—and the overall heat output feels much lower than that of a full-sized gaming rig. If you want a straightforward, space-saving way to get 4K performance at reasonable settings without building or carrying around a full desktop, the GMKtec AD-GP1 hits the sweet spot. It balances size, noise, heat, and raw gaming ability perfectly for someone who just wants smooth frame rates without chasing ultra-maxed settings. I’m very happy with it so far and look forward to seeing what it can do over OCuLink. Note: The color looks a bit off in my video, but that seems to be an artifact of my phone's camera and screen. The colors look great when viewing in person. ... show more

  • Good for frying eggs!
No way to turn it off. Didn't work with my Thunderbolt 3 connection. It just sat there and got SUPER HOT!

  • If you are a NUC fan and want the full GFX experience, this is for you.
I have the GMKTec K11 NUC with 96GB of memory and bought this AD-GP1 GPU dock specifically to make use of the OCuLink interface to game with. I have several other rigs - workstations, towers and other NUC's that I use for mining and tinkering, but really needed a powerful portable rig i could place in a small room. This combination ROCKS. I am able to do it all - crunch data, stream video and music, edit audio, browse the web and now play games full-tilt. Just getting back info Fifa (FC26) after years of hiatus - I can turn the graphics settings to their maximum and have no lag or judder. I am going to try some of the other new game offerings and some classics too but I am certain I will be as impressed. Want to get a high-value combination that won't skimp on performance? This will fit the bill! ... show more
