Totally happy with this purchase. I have not used it yet but set it up and everything seems to work as it's supposed to and there were no missing pieces. Set up was easy despite the sparce, only illustrated instructions. The stands are not super-sturdy but certainly sturdier than I feared they would be. This set is a bargain- $50.00 cheaper than a similar Amazon product that has the same amount of equipment but this has the added bonus of a selfie stand with included bluetooth clicker for taking selfies with your smart phone! ... show more

I have recently picked up photography as a hobby and thus I am new and not too knowledgeable;e or familiar with lighting kits so I cannot compare it to others. What I can say is that everything that is suggested I need comes in this set. I like that it comes in a carrying case. For my use, this has worked great. Everything is fairly easy to use and for me, it's a lot of trial and error while I learn about lighting.     • Good bang for the buck, but still a bit limited
I'm no photography pro. This review is from the standpoint of a total amateur who thinks it's fun to occasionally dabble, but that's about it. PROs: * Lots of equipment at a very low price. * Stands are sturdy * Collapses to a reasonably small size and is reasonably light (given the amount of stuff that's here) CONs: * Comes with no instructions whatsoever. Had to fiddle around a bit to try and figure out how to assemble the frame to hold the backdrops. In the end I'm pretty sure I got it right, and assuming I did... * Hard to pull the backdrops tight to minimize wrinkles and other abnormalities that could affect the shot --> Note that the description says you'll have to iron the backdrops before you use them. This is true--they are full of strong wrinkles upon arrival, but this isn't what I'm talking about above--even if they were totally wrinkle-free, it would be nice if I could pull them uniformly tight to the sides to ensure there is no shadows. For portrait photography (which this is meant for) where you have lots of straight on lighting, this is much less of an issue, but if you have strong lighting from the top, puckers caused by the fabric itself or any breeze show up much more --> the fact that the fabric is muslin and you have to iron it makes portability a bit of an issue since you'll have to fold the fabric back up to move it around. As noted, I'm a dabbler, so I'm not going to leave these out all the time which means the iron will have to come out EVERY time I want to use these backdrops. That's kind of a huge problem. I'm considering rolling them up on a long 2x4 or something so I can store them somewhere out of the way but not wrinkle them up. * 8.5x10 is nice and big for portraits with a small number of people, but it is woefully inadequate for one of the main things I wanted to do with it, which was to put a green screen behind my desk to use with Zoom to make artificial backgrounds look more natural. If you were planning to do that, this isn't going to work. This is not designed for that, though, so no stars off ... show more
