    • A Nice Alternative To A Fabric Tree Skirt - Included Lights Are Awful

I had no idea tree collars even existed until about 7 days ago. I really like the idea of hiding the tree stand and not having to clump up a fabric tree skirt to faux hide the tree stand. We all know what that fabric tree stand is hiding. I was one of the people who received lights with their tree collar. I received two strands of lights. I'm not certain why I did not receive three strands because there are three panels, but maybe the person who makes this collar assumes no one looks in the back of the tree so who needs lights back there anyhow. Right? I don't know. I tried (and failed) to follow the diagram for installing the lights that came with the collar. Those lights become tangled almost instantly when they are removed from the package and they are so difficult to pull through the eyeholes that it is not worth the effort. Plus the picture that shows how to install the lights has no numbers or letters or arrows so there was no way to tell where to start and where to end. It was a real goat rodeo. I got one strand of lights halfway installed, switched the button to turn them on, they blinked twice and then went out. Instead I took a strand of LED white lights (200 lights) and wrapped them around the inside base of the collar at the bottom of the stand and it looks great. I am using a tree stand (yes my Christmas tree is already up on November 4th) that is adjustable in both height and width so it was easy to fit it inside the collar. I did notice some of the 'metal' flaking off when I put the screws in. I would not purchase this collar at the full price of $100, but the sale price of $48 is reasonable and I really like the effect and I'm glad I was able to order it. ... show more

The lights included with this tree collar are not worth the trouble! The hooks on the back don’t match the diagram and there are only 2 sets of lights and 3 panels. I tried to space them so they would show (first pic) but there aren’t enough to make a difference and it’s a pain trying to find the tiny little switch to turn them on! That being said…it’s a cute design, nice, sturdy metal and just the right size for my tree which was my goal in buying it. ... show more

This is perfect for my family room pencil tree. It is made from galvanized steel which is very sturdy. It prevents my dog from knocking the tree over and looks very nice. This tree collar comes with lights. The lights are somewhat hard to install and also hard to put on and off. It would be great if it came with lights that had a timer. ... show more

The little lights that go inside of this are not on a timer and you have to remove them to take the stand apart. Not the best design, you also have to put the stand inside this and then the tree inside the stand and it’s a tight fit. It would be better if you could put this around the stand after the tree is in the stand. ... show more

I love the rustic feel it gives the tree. It is easy to put together and easy to put under the tree. I would buy it again. The little string of lights that come with it really enhances the skirt under the tree.

    • Not worth the price

I thought this tree collar would be nice to have, but I will be giving it away after Christmas. It is made of rustic looking metal (which I knew), and it was very hard to put together. It comes with two sets of glimmer lights that you have to string through these tiny holes on the inside of the tree collar and if you start stringing the lights the wrong way, or not in a pattern to allow the lights to be seen through the cut out star shapes, you have to start over. The lights have to be turned on manually by reaching over the top of the tree collar and finding the little housing that makes the string lights turn on, then you have to flip the black switch to turn them on, then do the same to turn them off. Not remote controlled. So, basically, it's difficult to do, plus it hurts your arm, or back, or whatever trying to reach the gadget. I don't bother to turn on the lights anymore. I hurt my back trying to get the lights to come on and it's just not worth it. So........it will be donated. It's definitely not worth the money I spent. And it comes in 3 sections with 3 screws to make it a "circle". You have to put the sections together and then string the lights while leaving one section not quite attached. Another pain to do. Poor design and definitely not worth it. ... show more
