  • No minor adjustments, hard to setup.
I bought this with the intention of moving from a gimbal to glidecams. BUT I will be waiting until I have the money for the More expensive model. below is a list of pros and cons. don't get me wrong. this has a place on the market. but it is in no way my market. Cons: - There are no minor adjustments with this. you have to adjust your camera's body on the slider by slowly adjusting it in small increments. - there is no way to dynamically and statically balance this. which is why the glide cam rotates crazily when you spin it. I was able to separately balance it statically and dynamically but not both at the same time. - It takes so long to balance you won't even want to use it when you finally get it close to balanced. pros: - the price is right where it should be for something that will do the job. - the quality is very good. the grip doesn't spin or twist. weights are high quality The biggest issue with the XR series is the lack of adjustment knobs. or even that you cant buy the head with adjustment knobs on their website. ... show more

  • Well Built but hard for me to balance
This is my first experience with a glide cam so have no real point of reference. It seems very well built, came well packaged and has a good reputation. The reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is because I could not get it to balance perfectly. I understand this is largely a user problem but feel that the Glidecam could have slightly more precise movements. Apparently the model up from this one does and so I will be getting that. Hopefully the balancing thing will not be an issue with that one. ... show more

  • Way too heavy!
This product was way too heavy for a petite woman to use! My husband even struggled to hold it for long periods of time (and he is a powerlifter!). This was going to be used as a stabilizer for wedding videography. It is not meant to be held for long periods of time, for sure. It also was very sensitive in trying to get it weighted. What worked for my husband did not work for me. ... show more

Once you get past the balancing you'll be just fine . Believe me this works just as good as glidecam 2000. I also watched YouTube tutorial for set up because there were some small tips .

  • you'll regret it's the same design since early 2000's
I bought this back in 2005, it was something new and overly hyped, and probably the only company that made something like this or else I'd had to spend several thousands to get the Hollywood glide look. Well, cut to the chase. Through out those yrs passed by I still can't and don't KNOW how to set it up because it's toooooo complex. Last yr went through my garage storage and decided to give it another try but..... I finally had it and threw the crap away, a heavy all metal crap away, it's like ancient and they still sell it! This is 2020 and they still make the same design. If you buy it you'll be fooling around with 20's some metal rings trying to balance with your camera! it's a pain. Please don't! PLEASE RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY YOU'RE BEING RIPPED OFF FROM THIS DATED AND ANCIENT DESIGN! For this price buy the modern motorized one, it's smaller, lighter, and 1 piece not some 30 pieces crap. ... show more
