It took more effort to get the old toilet seat off versus how long it took to install the new one. You will not be disappointed with this one. Great buy.

Very comfortable and I just love the quiet close. UPDATE: 11/2017 seat has begun to peel off top layer of the seat coating. Whitish, flexible material bubbling up and peeling off. Not sure why. I have only used the Lysol sanitizing wipes to clean this in the few years that I've had it. Its in my master bath, so doesn't get a ton of use. Also, the quiet close feature stopped working for the lid about a year or so after purchase. It works to quietly close the seat portion, but the lid just slams down. I am currently in contact with Kohler now, hoping they will stand by their product and replace the defective seat. I will update once that correspondence has been completed. ... show more

Needed a new toilet seat, after having a problem with an after market flush handle, I decided to go for an original manufacture replacement. I look and works great. It was easy to install, but the replacement is just not as robust as the original seat the was solid. The new one kind of hollowed out, which makes me think it will be more likely to break in the future. I hope this helps ... show more

I bought two of these seats based on the mostly good reviews. However, about a month after using them, I am regretting my purchase. For starters, the tabs that cover the bolts that connect the seat to the toilet are so flimsy that my 1-year old daughter easily pulled them off. She then went on to hide them someplace around the house, so now both of the seats have exposed bolts. By the way, these tabs also came broken on both of the original seats I ordered, but replacing them was easy through Amazon. The second major defect with the construction of these seats is that the lid portion is poorly attached to the seat. My 1-year old was able to shake the lid loose so that it actually came apart from the assembly. The lid is actually held on by a plastic attachment on one side. Needless to say, I have never been able to get the lid back on properly, moving it one way or the other just a little too much dislodges it. The only good thing about these seats is that they look nice and the contoured inner seat feels good. However, if you have kids, or more than one person using these seats, I caution you to look for something more sturdy. No pun intended, but the quality of these seats is truly crappy. ... show more
