I make large amounts of fried rice, mashed potatoes, macaroni salads, soups, beans, casseroles, salads and whatnot. aI liked to keep the refrigerator stocked so that others in this household can always find something to reheat for a quick lunch or dinner. No one eats at the same time, so these come in handy. I'm not constantly up looking to cook many different meals.. or even one. These are great and far more useful than smaller containers. Cheap enough that I can wash and reuse, send to a neighbor or family member's house, or just toss as the mood strikes me. Wash up has thus far been a breeze (but not made anything with tomato in it). I bought three sets and I'm using them all the time and my fridge is well organized. I prefer to make larger amounts as I have hardy eaters around me. Two retirees who like to take life easy by not cooking an entire meal every day, Glad makes my life that much easier for warming leftovers or dividing large meal items for freezer storage. I don't COOK in them, but I certainly defrost gently in the microwave if I haven't planned enough time for defrosting at room temperature. I have never had one leak. The cost is substantial, but they last long unless I send meals home with the grandsons and they dont return the containers. These are okay containers - they are not necessarily heavy duty, but the lids snap decently and are just the right size to stack two high on my refrigerator shelves. Side beef: If I try to buy two packs, it would take two weeks to arrive, but buying a single pack arrives in two days? Makes no sense. We love this size for taking food to potlucks. Easy to stack food in these, plus serving vessel and utensils, in a bag. Also easy to transport back home. Cookies stack neatly on edge. Anything other than soup has never leaked. Works well for prepping lots of ingredients for recipes. 2 of these, full, fits easily in our big slow cooker. They stack neatly in the fridge. They hold about 3 quarts of ingredients each. Much tidier than using multiple smaller containers. These have survived dozens of trips through the dishwasher. We have a Bosch with no heating element in the cabinet, so plastic containers do just fine top or bottom rack. Our old ones are probably 10 years old? They look faded next to the new ones but everything still works great. Years ago we used these to give away food after big family gatherings, too, but they are too hard to find now! Been using this brand for quite a while, but now that I can buy them here it’s much more convenient. I’m sure I could save a buck or two but I’m cool with. The lid stays on tight, never had a problem yet. I don’t microwave anything in it. If I have to freeze some meat or chicken I just marinate it, in to a freezer bag or vacuum seal then in one of these for good measure. I hand wash them but if you want to know if they are dishwasher safe it’s probably on the packaging. Make sure you look at the size before purchase. I bought these because I am a busy guy who tries to stay fit and healthy. In order to do so, I prep a whole week's worth of food in advance. In order to do this, I need containers that can safely be frozen, microwaved, and washed in the dishwasher all while not having to worry about BPAs leeching into my food.
