I had a cheap plastic lock that worked similar but wore out in a few months. We use this to lock a cabinet with items that the kids shouldn’t be getting into. Nice quality and should last. I had to cut a little off the end of the metal shank so that I could slide it all the way off and on. Just the end segment with a cutoff wheel. A hacksaw would work fine as well. I'm sure they're nice and everything but for cabinet locks they have to rotate to be put on the cabinet knobs... And because the bottom of this lock doesn't come off you can't get them on. Again they seem really well made, but this should be much clearer in the description
