I got this bcuz I did a full custom loop and my case Is a showcase with not a lot of fan space. Installation is a bit tedious but it looks amazing when it's in proper. The temperatures of the board are nice. If using aith a i9-9900k, know that CPU runs hotter than others so OverClocking will take testing

I have been building custom PCs for over 15 years and this has been the worst and most frustrating experience to date. To start, this is truly an enthusiast motherboard and if you are one of the lucky few that doesn't have an issue with it....congratulations and I suggest you "set it and forget it". Meaning don't upgrade the bios, don't update the Gigabyte apps, don't mess with the hardware, just let it be for as long as possible (or until Microsoft pushes a Windows update and breaks the Gigabyte apps..which it will). I was one of the unlucky few the first, two attempts and glad I tested them on a test bench before installing!! The first AORUS Waterforce board wouldn't even post due to it thinking it detected a leak (leak sensors all over this board). If any of the leak sensors are bad...this board will never post. I exchanged for another board and was able to get the second one running (for a short time). I will admit once it is up and running i(and paired with a Gigabyte Waterforce video card and AORUS memory modules) it looks awesome. I did experience issues with Gigabyte's RGB software (which controls all of the the on-board LEDs) . The software was buggy even when it worked and at one point wouldn't recognize the LEDs on their own memory modules). Then Microsoft pushed an update to C++ and it broke two of their apps. After rolling back the image to earlier version it worked again. Shortly after this board just failed and wouldn't post throwing an obscure error code 55 (which other users have reported). Tried replacing all the components with new one-by-one. Through process of elimination determined it was the mobo (again). Gigabyte was absolutely, useless when trying to help troubleshoot the issue and their suggestion was to send it back for service (FYI - under the Gigabyte warranty the buyer pays shipping). It took a while to even get a reply from Gigabyte and the entire process would have taken several weeks. At the end, I decided to just return the board while I was able and move-on. In conclusion, if you are new to building PCs recommend you don't use this board. If you are a experienced PC builder....you are rolling the dice. Disappointed overall with the experience and Gigabyte

Extremely bad customer service! Had to get 3 before I got one that worked. Wouldn’t boot or goto bios due to a “leak sensor” when there wasn’t a single leak in my system. Had to bypass the sensor and live without RGBs on board! Trust me when I say Gigabyte has the worst customer service and I will never purchase another product from them. I have a i9900k with the aorus waterforce 2080ti and the software is so buggy, the gpu RGBs work only some of the time. Pretty bogus experience with this company.

the only way i was able to get this to boot was to disconnect the leak detection node from the water block to the motherboard. after that ive had nothing but reliable and stable motherbord took me 2 days of researching to find this problem.

Overall I really liked this board. You can get most of the features in boards half the price, but this one has the water monoblock which is very, very cool looking. With hardware this expensive, they need to make you fall in love with the design because if it's just specs it's not enough to justify the price. With that said, the aesthetics of this board are great. I appreciated the amount of cables, extras, packaging, and the premium feel of the whole experience. It was very enjoyable to unpackage and build onto this motherboard. Now for the quirks - Either they don't work or are mislabeled in the manual, but BOTH of my RGB headers on the board itself didn't work. There are two sets of RGB headers, 1x aRGB and 1x 4-pin RGB per section, with a jumper available to select the appropriate voltage (so 2 aRGB headers, 2 4-pin rgb headers, and 2 jumper switches). I set the aRGB active on the top, and that aRGB device didn't work, and I set the 4-pin RGB active on the bottom, and that didn't work on that device either. For both of these RGB devices, I had to use the included fan controller. One theory I have is that the board can only support one type of RGB at once, so you cannot mix and match. The lighting on the board is standard RGB (non-addressable). This was pretty disappointing. The product images show a beautiful gradient on the lighting of the board. You can't actually light it that way! On the PCB RGB, you have about 12" of an LED strip that can only be one color at a time. I feel like this is a big opportunity that they missed. The lighting for the mobo RGB headers can only be set in pairs. You can control both the RGB (or aRGB) headers with the same color simultaneously, but they cannot be set independently. Again, this kinda sucks. Small issue, but one of the cables for the fan controller had a wire pulled out from the connector. I was able to get around this, but you'd think it would have been caught in quality control. The fan controller itself is pretty cool. Unlike most competitor offerings, it supports 8x aRGB, 8x 4-pin RGB, and 8x fan control all at the same time and independently. It will be difficult to cleanly route 8 of the ribbon-wire connections, I ended up daisy chaining RGB devices and consolidating to 5 ports on the controller. One major problem I had to overcome was that the USB connection cable between the fan controller and the mobo is very short, I think just 15cm or so. It severely limits where you'll be able to mount the fan controller. This is impactful, because if you're utilizing the controller then you have up to 8 fan/rgb leads, plus two temp leads, plus usb input, and it's hard to manage that much cabling if you can't optimally choose where you want to mount it. Onto the software. It's not good. RGB Fusion is a buggy mess. Smart Fan doesn't control your system fans, only the controller fans. Oddly, "System Information Viewer" is the program you need to use to change system fan curves. You cannot access the controller fans within System Information Viewer. You control system fans within SIV in a section called.... Smart Fan. It's confusing, and frankly Gigabyte needs to spend the time and money to get it right like ASUS has. It's a bad experience when someone is configuring their PC for the first time to have to endure the sheer terrible design and bugginess that is RGB Fusion. To reiterate, you cannot control all of your fans in one place. You need to control your system fans (i.e. mobo fan headers) in one program, and your fan controller fans in a different program. They're both Gigabyte programs, and for a strange reason one is called Information Viewer. If any of your fans are non-PWM, you can voltage control them. But you can only do that in BIOS. It was frustrating to attempt this through SIV, because it doesn't work there. Only within BIOS can you change the fan control scheme. I have the fancy Gskill RGB trident royal RAM in gold. RGB fusion thinks this is a non-addressable RGB element, and will only do static color things. You can disable the control in the software, but that will override any lighting configuration you do in the Gskill lighting software. The solution is to go into the RGB Fusion software folders, and delete the .dll's that reference "DDR". This will trick RGB Fusion into not attempting to control the RAM. Lastly, the Gigabyte App Center is also terrible. Updates fail multiple times in a row, and when updating system software, it automatically attempts to download (and install!!!) a google toolbar for IE and Norton antivirus. Really bad bundling, Gigabyte. Overall I like the board. It has quirks, and the Gigabyte software suite is poor quality, no nice way to put it. With those things in mind, this is the best mobo for the z390 out there. That was worth it to me. I would never consider a low end Gigabyte now, knowing how bad their software is. EDIT: I originally had this at 4 stars, but now I'm making it 3. The 10gb/s ethernet jack stopped working when I swapped out my router (??). The other port on the board works fine. The Gigabyte software is too poorly designed to actually update this driver - every time it searches for new driver, the Aquantia 10gb ethernet driver shows up, attempts to installs, pretends like it does, but doesn't actually install the new driver. EDIT2: I need to drop another star. Another issue - even though it says this nowhere in the manual, only one of the two temp sensors on the motherboard can be used by the fan curve BIOS functionality. Also note, I had to put ALL of my fans on the motherboard headers and stop using the included fan controller. The software was just too spotty, and I was tired of my fans running at 100% speed sometimes because the software stopped working. I really just need to reiterate, and hope that GIGABYTE listens - GIGABYTE, your software is absolutely terrible. Please feel free to contact me directly if you need examples, screenshots, steps to reproduce, etc. I like the hardware you guys make, but you need help with your software. I might eventually record some videos of the sheer badness that is Gigabyte's software.
