  • The very best you can get in a low-profile video card as of 2024
There's not much to say about the nVidia 4060 GPU chipset that's unique to this card; anything you see about the 4060's performance and compatibility applies here. Standard nVidia drivers, standard very-mildly-overclocked clock-rate, all that. It's a very good card for anything short of high-framerate 1440p/4k gaming, just like any 4060. What this card is all about is the low-profile form factor. This is a very compact video card. It fits into any low-profile (or, for that matter, standard) case that has video card slots in the back. As it has both a low-profile and a standard backplate, it can be used in a regular tower case perfectly well. Hang on to whichever backplate you don't use, as someday you might want to move it to a new system. It's fine in either, and as there isn't really a price premium for this form factor (at least when I bought it), it's a no-brainer. Specifics: * The fans are fairly quiet, though not 100% silent when gaming. They won't be a distraction for people wanting to use it in an HTPC (home theater PC). * Cooling is fine as long as the rest of your case has decent ventilation. The fans are up to the job. I wouldn't overclock it though, as there isn't a lot of excess cooling capacity. When you overclock, you generate more heat and need more cooling to keep things stable. If you want to do big overclocking, get a standard card in a standard case. For factory speeds, the fans are all you need. * Physical build quality seems good. Everything lines up the way it should, nothing's wobbly or loose. * Note that aftermarket cooling devices like water cooling blocks likely will not fit, as this card uses its own cooling mounting locations. But then, who does that in a low-profile case? That's why you're here, for the form-factor, right? * The card length is quite short, only about 7"/18cm or so. If your motherboard fits, so will this card. Just keep in mind it consumes 2 slots in width. * Keep in mind that you WILL need to connect a 6-pin PCI-E power cable to the card for it to function. Older low-profile cards often could get enough power from just the PCI-E slot, but that's capped at 75 watts, and this card will pull more than that under load. Keep this in mind when you select a power supply for an HTCP build using this card. What it comes down to is this: if you're doing a low-profile build for HTPC or gaming use, this is by far your best GPU option as of 2024. ... show more

  • Very quiet for its size. Very quiet for its size.
I upgraded from an RTX A2000 6GB. I thought I'd be stuck on it forever because I thought the only step forward (for low profile GPUs) would be the thousand-dollar A4000 SFF. I'm glad I discovered this card - the A4000 SFF is still superior, but the RTX 4060 LP is still a worthwhile upgrade. It is, to my knowledge, the only low profile card to ever require additional PCI-E power connectors so make sure your power supply can handle it. This card sticks very hard to the advertised 115W TDP while other 4060s frequently surpass that (highest one I've seen was doing 130W) so it may not perform 1:1 to its full-size siblings, but it's close enough, and as echoed in other reviews, the best reasonably priced low profile card you can get. By far the most impressive thing about this card is the cooling solution. I used to have the Zotac 1650 Low Profile card that screamed like a banshee under load. Then my RTX A2000 spoiled me by being completely silent always. I was worried then about how loud I should expect this card to be, since it is a downdraft cooler like the 1650 LP. I'm happy to report that, although it is a little louder than the RTX A2000, it is still supremely quiet. What noise it does make is more like the whirling of air as opposed to the screech of the 1650. This is thanks to a surprisingly high quality heatsink and triple fan setup. I thank Gigabyte for creating this product, and hope to use my 4060 LP for many years to come. ... show more

  • The best low profile card
I bought this with casual, living room 4k 60fps gaming in mind. Or put another way, a console without the limitations of a console. I'm limited by my Denon receiver currently to HDMI 2.0, hence the 60fps at 4k. It does that well when paired with a an i5-12600. Cyberpunk 2077 settings mostly maxed out, raytracing off, and DLSS set to performance. It doesn't get louder than the case fans do. I have it in a Silverstone ML04 which blends in with my other home theater gear and fits nicely in my cabinet. I'll be excited to see what else can be done in a similar sized format down the road. I hope Intel and AMD are watching. We spent too long with the GTX1650 as the best consumer low-profile GPU, this is a breath of fresh air. This does require 8 pin power so be prepared for that - commonly low profile GPUs have been limited to 75W of PCI slot power in the past. I'm glad they did this though, as a slot-powered 4050 (or whatever they may have called it) may well have been cheaper, but it wouldn't be enough for 4k 60fps. That would probably be a 1080 only card. The cooler design is seemingly pretty decent. No extruded aluminum here, it looks like the usual heat-pipe-and-fin-stack combo you see in higher performance applications. I am suspect of the longevity of the fans if run 24/7. There is no zero fan mode on this card, which is odd because I bet the cooler is good enough to pull it off. Seems like something that should be added with a firmware update. Overall I recommend this card for your low profile GPU needs. ... show more

  • The best in SFF gaming cards right now
Having owned a 1650 SFF, A2000 SFF and now this 4060 it easily blows everything else this size out of the water for gaming (ignoring the $1300 RTX 2000 ADA which performs similarly and is a workstation card). If you're building a small (sub 5 liter) slim backpack fittable rig something like this is almost if not entirely necessary due to the severe size constraints. Of course, compared to the competition this does use 100+ watts and therefore requires external PSU power, in this case 1 8-pin connector, but it's that power that allows it to smoke the A2K so well. Despite the small size and higher power budget it doesn't have any problems staying under 75c under shared CPU/GPU synthetic loads in my 5l A24 v5 dual slot. With my 5700x3D I had no problem running it on my HDPlex GaN 250 but it started having problems as it aged, so I grabbed an Apevia Flex ATX 500w. Overall if you can snag this thing for $250 it's pretty sweet, but the 4060 in general is still bad value from a purely value sense. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a 4060, but despite that I'm very happy for the build it allows and Gigabyte for making a SFF version. ... show more

  • Extremely compact 4060 GPU Extremely compact 4060 GPU
This is a "if you need it you need it" type of niche product because it is a low profile design. It came with a low profile bracket, but shown in the photo is the standard sized one that was also included. It is a noticable performance upgrade from a GTX 1060 6GB OC card even with my old i7-6700 CPU based build. Build quality seemed pretty solid. It has a fair amount of weight to it even though it is tiny. I didn't notice any physical issues with the card. The major drawback is due to its size. If you don't specifically need low profile for an ITX build then get a two or three fans variant. The combination of small heatsink and small fans means at load it will make noise. Though, its subjective with how much fan noise and the pitch of it is acceptable to you. For me, the small fans produce a frequency and level of noise at heavy load that stuck out from the other 6 fans in my build. They also made a pulsating sound that was irritating to me. I ended up returning this, but I do see it as a viable option for people that want to make a tiny PC with solid performance. I had bought this one through Amazon Warehouse Deals on heavy discount and didn't need it for the size, in my case it wasn't worth the downsizes of such a small card. ... show more

  • The best alternative to the RTXA2000 The best alternative to the RTXA2000
This card is a beast for the size! I needed a card that was low profile, and decently fast. This card answered (for the most part) I was trying to keep total wattage as low as possible since I was utilizing a PICO 300W unit. The RTX 4000 SFF Ada was my first card in mind, followed by the RTX A2000 Ada (since both run off of 75W PCIe power). However, that was quickly shattered upon trying to find availability for the two cards (let alone the price gouging). So.. then I stumbled upon this gem. As it is as fast / faster than the professional cards, it needed an external 8Pin to power the card and for me wasn't exactly ideal; for most this isnt a deal breaker; I made it work. And honestly, it has been a great card since in this build. Temps are cool, performance is great, and size is super compact. This paired great with the 7945HX! ... show more

  • It's so cute! Awesome for 1080p! It's so cute! Awesome for 1080p!
This particular is just cool. In my first photo, you can see it on top of my 4080, and in the other picture, you can see it next to several other GPU's. It's tiny! Don't let the size fool you. It's all there when it comes to performance. I tested it on several games and as far as all the games I tested, it had no problem playing anything I threw at it in 1080p with great FPS. I posted the photo on reddit and a lot of people assumed that by sacrificing a large portion if the cooler you see on all the other 4060's, you would have high Temps. That isn't the least but true. This GPU was running in the high 60's on the stock fan curve. With a moderate fan curve it was running in the low 60's. This GPU's Temps are safe all the way into the mid 80's. If you have a 3060 or 3060 Ti, this GPU shouldn't be on your list of possible upgrades. I recommend this particular GPU to anyone building a new, small PC on a budget. Or anyone that's doing a new ITX build and plays at 1080p. ... show more

  • Tiny but mighty! Tiny but mighty!
This is a far cry from the previous best half height gaming gpu, the 1650 (I’m ignoring the a2000 since it’s a workstation card and usually goes for more than it’s worth), in both power and performance. It does fall into niche category since it does require a PCIe power connector, which is a little odd since this form of gpu is popular in older/retired business desktops that don’t have those connectors, but this also means it’s a full 4060 with no limitations. At 100% usage, 110-120 watt power consumption, it definitely gets hot at around 72c on the core and 85c on the hotspot with definitely audible fans, not screaming loud like laptop or blower styled cooler audible but enough to tell that it’s working but putting on headphones will block out most of the noise, in ideal conditions and 76c on the core and 90c on the hotspot when closed up in the optiplex shell with bad airflow. Overall, a nice little card with no restrictions and not many caveats in an Uber-small form factor that’s currently the cheapest variant of this card. 10/10 ... show more
