  • An OK board for the price/size.
Style: B650M AORUS ELITE AX
Everything is working fine with an AMD 7800X3D and the price to performance is great, but I can't stand the BIOs and how it will sometimes let me boot into and sometimes it won't. There is also a noticeable coil whine coming from the VRM area. Also my PC crashed one day and I had to clear the CMOs to get everything working again. In my small case that was a huge pain... I will only buy Asus ROG boards going forward as my last one was flawless. I really, really, really do not want to return this as it will take another hour+ of my life to take the PC apart and ship everything out. I will deal with it for now and save up for a nicer board. Lesson learned. Edit 3/2024 - revising to a 5 star as my BIOS problems have subsided after updating to F22. The coil whine I found was actually my AIO pump when it was over 75% so I suggest trying that along with undervolting where you can. I think everything is good now and I am happy. Still would want to have an ASUS ROG board in the future to avoid the little issues I had to figure out and fix. ... show more

  • Excellent, nice boot time and features
Style: B650M AORUS ELITE AX
Great heatsinks and motherboard plug options. Has everything you will ever need! Mine had no coil whine, I tried 2 boards just to make sure. The coil whine issue is really overstated. Nice fan headers, RGB headers, and place for m2 ssds. Heatsink on the VRM is top notch, not that it's needed anyway. GPU retention clip is nicely made, and quality motherboard with enough USB ports for anyone. Has the gen2 2x2 USB for future proofing. Don't be afraid to buy it used, and save some money. The coil whine issue is overstated. High quality all around and POSTed first try with both boards. My bios boot time in task manager is 11-12 seconds. From power off to windows desktop is about 18 seconds. Excellent product, great job Gigabyte!! ... show more

  • Worked good for about a year
Style: B650M AORUS ELITE AX
I have owned this motherboard for a little over a year, and although I have experienced mild and occasional issues, they were generally fixable with a bit of tweaking. However, in April 2024, it started refusing to boot. I sent it in for an RMA, and when it was returned to me, they claimed it was fixed. Unfortunately, it got stuck on the VGA light. I have never had problems with any other motherboard until this one. I tried three different RAM kits in all configurations, five different GPUs, and two different CPUs, but it still wouldn't get past the VGA light. Upon closer inspection of the socket, I noticed a pin that appears to be burnt. While I'm not entirely sure what happened, I suspect this could be one of the reasons the board isn't working. I'm currently waiting for the motherboard to be returned to me after sending it in for a second RMA. I hope it will be fixed this time. ... show more

  • Good boards.
Style: B650M AORUS ELITE AX
I'm not just reviewing this board all Gigabyte motherboards in general. I've had 6 different Gigabyte boards from a Z390 on a 9700k to this board I just bought last week. I've myself never had a serious problem with any board from Gigabyte before. The worst problem I've seen was forced to use PCIE 3.0 on the videocard that used 4.0 on a board that had 4.0, that was fixed later on in a BIOS update. Other than that they've been stable, higher than usual amp ratings even on there lower tier boards Elites, Pro's. Better than normal thermals, never had to worry about thermal throttling even when over clocking. Just great all around. And, I can't say this about any other brand. ASUS nothing but trouble I've had three of there boards none lasted over a year if it worked at all. MSI is 50/50 with 2 of there boards I've used. The only other brand I'll recommend but still don't have the same confidence, is ASRock been really surprised with them lately. Packed with features, and been good but only had two different boards with them. So gigabyte has my vote when it comes to motherboards hands down. Hope this helps your purchase. ... show more

  • Many features for the price, but eh
Style: B650M AORUS ELITE AX
This board is packed with features, and even has wifi which is nice so I can test connections when needed. The board seems well-built. The m.2 quick latches should become standard on all boards, they are nice! Having that extra pcie slot on an M board is also a great nice-to-have. Sometimes there is a red light that just stays on sometimes, it's some bios reset option I assume, but it's a tad annoying, but also it's not on right now so heh. I'm not a big fan of rgb but this does it nicely. My biggest gripes are the software and updating the bios. The software at first seems really nice, it checked for new drivers, and allowed me to download them all at once, however, they packaged Norton with it (though you can uncheck that box it was still offputting and I didn't see it until it was almost too late) and updated by firmware but not to the latest firmware. When I tried doing a manual bios update myself I ran into some frustrating issues of the bios updater not being able to read the file, I had to click on the file instead of hit next even though it was the only file, otherwise it would keep saying file not found. But, after that issue was resolved by clicking, it then said invalid image file. I still haven't been able to update my bios, and my version doesn't fix the voltage issue with the 7800x3d, so that's a bit concerning. The documentation from Gigabyte was not any help at all. For the price, this board is unmatched. I even saw it have some solid recommendations from some techs on youtube after I bought it. Everything works great, though I wish it had better onboard audio, a way to change the color of that red led on the bios button, better documentation, and not throwing unneeded or bad (norton) software in the list of driver downloads. ... show more

  • Good value
Style: B650M K
This is a solid entry for a b650 board. The biggest con to it is that it doesn't take Sata SSDs, so plan accordingly (had to get an enclosure for mine). But it takes plenty of regular sata drives, and it's held up well for me. The IO in the back is fine, usb-c is nice to see on a more budget board. Bios is fairly easy and intuitive to operate. It's had zero problems for the months I've owned it. It's got a decent amount of overclocking options, but I'm not into that enough to really say whether it's good for that or not. But b650 is a great architecture to get into, since AMD has promised support for it for ages. ... show more
