Originally I had picked out a set that was much lighter in color. But I noticed that because of the water quality where I live the color in light things, and even in clear glass was distorting. So I went with this darker set. I am so glad I did. They are beautiful. The color is so rich and true. The backside of them is a matte black while the serving side is the prettiest blue with brown flecks. They have a very nice, even weight. They feel sturdy while not being too heavy. And are very well made. I don't use a microwave but I am sure they would be fine in one. They retain the heat from the food that I use them for but don't get too hot to sit on my lap. The bowls are small across, but very deep, which makes them ideal for the perfect amount of whatever you wish to put in them. The texture is smooth and feels very nice, which makes them easier to clean. I did drop one the other day while hand washing them, and it did not break or chip. I think they are definitely worth the purchase. They are a beautiful set I expect to have for a very long time. ... show more

LOVE my new plates! They are REALLY pretty. I was concerned about the quality for the price, but they are really nice. The color is nice, the quality is great. The smooth surface makes them really easy to clean. They are looking great in my house of boys after a few months! No chips and they still look brand new.
