I am not the best photographer sorry about the picture. These dishes are stoneware which is usually heavy. I am in my '60s and have problems with my hands so I was a little leery about purchasing them. I can tell you they are not heavy like the old stoneware they are beautiful. I couldn't find this particular set in seating for six so I purchased two orders now I have an amazing set of dishware and I can't wait to invite the family over for dinner. I would recommend this dishware for anyone who likes the stability and durability of stoneware but hesitating due to the weight of stoneware.Don't be afraid of this set. I do love this set of dinnerware, but do have a word of caution if you plan on purchasing multiple sets. If you want multiple sets, you really should order them all at once. I first ordered 2 sets of service for 4 place settings of the “Gibson Elite Green Lantern Service for 4 (16 Piece) Double Bowl Dinnerware Set, Teal, Soft Gray, Dinnerware Set”. The first 2 sets arrived together very well packed in boxes with lovely color graphics on the boxes. I liked the dishes so much that I wanted to buy an extra set of 4 place settings, so I would have 12 of each in case some broke in the future. This third box came packed very well packed in a plain cardboard box, no color pictures, just information stamped on the box. It seemed that the third set was made in a different factory. The color of the bottom of the dinnerware of the third set is a lighter color (dark green) and the bottom of the first 2 sets is almost black. See photo of them stacked in the dishwasher for comparison. The color of tops of the dinnerware from all 3 sets are the same. I didn’t bother sending them back the third set because they are basically for backup. The dishes are very well packed for shipping (we live in a rural area, bumpy dirt roads, so I was impressed that no dishes arrived broken). Also, depending on your dishwasher, the dishes do take up more room in the dishwasher, but I’m okay with that. We’ve been using them for a month and no cut marks so far. As other people mentioned, they do get hot in the microwave, but that’s not un-manageable and food does look beautiful on them. ... show more

I'm torn on my review. They really are beautiful dishes but half of the plates have hair line fractures in them most likely from the processing heat during production. These fractures cannot be felt if you run your fingernail over them. But it still leaves one to wonder how long it'll survive through washes and wear and tear. The price is extremely reasonable so I would buy again ... show more

Okay, I try not to put much importance on material possessions, but these dishes are everything I hoped and dreamed. They kind of remind me of the gills on the underside of mushrooms, but the ridges are shallow enough that they're super easy to clean. The green is earthy but a very pretty shade, and pics really don't do them justice. They're perfect for my decor. I did end up having to return the first set due to defects in the glaze of two pieces but the second set had no issues. The wide bowls are amazing for anything that may need to be mixed, like salads or pasta or cereal, and have a tall enough lip that things stay inside when doing so. The taller bowls are deep and perfect for soup, with less worry about boil-over when used in the microwave. They're the perfect weight: heavy enough to be good quality but not too heavy to be cumbersome. Dishes were packed well and both sets arrived unbroken, which is more than I can say for some companies. My boyfriend loved them so much that he also got a set. Highly recommended. ... show more
