Starting my seedlings and I had wanted a cold frame for awhile. Bought this. It was surprisingly easy to put together, just me (73 yr old woman) and my trusty DeWalt drill/screw driver. Took about 30 to 40 minutes. Except one set of hinge pre-drilled holes all the rest lined up perfectly. This thing is light in weight, goes together easily, and with some care should last a few years. The clear part is plastic, the wood is fairly soft (I could press screws in to start them), the shelving seems sturdy. The top ratchets open, held by metal slides and can be tightened to hold open. I did add 2 extra washers to the ratchet mechanisms so the slides weren't sliding against the wood (so you've got the wood siding, a washer, the slide, another washer and then the wing screw to tighten the slide). The wood smells faintly like peppery cedar which I liked (after 2 days the smell seems gone). Given the cost I feel this is a good value for my money

I didn't expect this greenhouse to be bulletproof--it's basically a wood frame with some plexi windows. Pretty much exactly what I needed for my small back yard -- it was easy to put together and I think it's a great deal for the money. Really happy with it...

Very nice little unit. Carefully shipped a box within a box. Arrived intact. Predrilled holes were perfectly placed. Cold frame should do the job. Have up against house and under eave so not too worried about any wind affecting this product. Looks great on patio. Great value.

I love this little structure! It starts seeds like a dream and is keeping my warm weather plants growing at a great pace until the ground warms more. It is a bit delicate, so I put it on the deck instead of in the garden as I'd planned. I don't think it would handle wind, nor could it be anchored to stand up to much. But on the deck this little warm spot is a blessing for northern gardening. I plan to leave a cherry tomato and cucumber plant in it in a big pot for the season. Easy set-up, and attractive enough.

I bought this cold frame to start warming up the soil here in Maine and to help harden off my seedlings before transplanting. The cold frame is made of cedar and smells quite strong of the wood when you open the box. I like cedar, it's resistant to rot and pests but I know some people can find the smell off putting. I was able to assemble this myself with a crosshead screw bit and a drill. I found that propping pieces on the deck made it easier to screw the sides together but I was putting this together outside and my backyard is a slope. If you have level ground this should be easy to put together. I like that the screw holes are predrilled and there are dowel pegs to hold the sides together. You can easily put a dab of wood glue on them to keep the cold frame assembled and make it a bit stronger. It is super lightweight, in fact I am concerned that this will blow away if I get a storm through so I will need to figure out how to peg this cold frame down. Some of the side pieces were cracked/split where the manufacturer had screwed things together (see pictures) it is skinny strips of wood so this weak point is not going to last. Since the cold frame is lightweight you can pick it up and move it around but I would add some handles to the sides to make it easier so I'm not pulling the joints apart or pushing in the polycarbonate sides. The lid is easy to open and adjust the height. I wish that the sliders were a little longer so you can open the lid right up to easily reach in and harvest or tend to plants that are in there without having to fully unscrew the bolts on the slider or bump your head on the lid. It's a good little cold frame that is more ideal for hardening off seedlings. I would consider buying another but I think I would be more likely to build my own from scratch using recycled materials like windows or a glass door so that it was more robust and won't blow away like Dorothy's farmhouse.

I got the 43 inch high version. It was fairly easy to assemble even though the directions weren’t real clear. It fit together perfectly and it keeps my plants at about 10° F above ambient temperature. You could probably keep it warmer by adding a small bulb or strand of Christmas lights inside. I wasn’t sure whether the wood is actually treated or not so I sprayed it with a sealant to keep it in better condition. It’s lightweight enough that if you lived in a very windy place you would probably need to secure it to the patio, but in a sheltered area it’s fine. The shelves are not adjustable and the top shelf has less clearance in the front due to the slant of the roof. Overall, I feel like it’s sturdy and a reasonable price for the quality. Plus it was a lot easier than building my own.

Love the large size. Exactly as described. Flimsy? Yes. I hope it lasts. One panel had a hole in it but rather than sending it all back I will just seal it up. It took me several days to assemble because I put many layers of paint on the frame. I also added waterproof sealant around all the panels inside and out. Time consuming but hopefully it will significantly extend the life of this cold frame.

This is a lovely cold frame greenhouse. I have purchased this for my sister, as a gift. I have one myself that I love. Sadly, this one was received by my sister with damage. The left panel has a silver dollar sized section where the corrugated plastic was crushed. Refer to pictures. I have reached out to the manufacture and am waiting for a response. Upon fixing of this small issue, I will then adjust my review from a one star. That being said, this indeed is a lovely cold frame. Pros: Easy to assemble Light weight (easy to pick up and move) Wonderful for hardening off plants on a deck or patio Nice slides for venting of the roof to allow heat to escape and not burn the plants Good size for the small scale gardener Cons: In this case, damage to the side panel. Overall, depending on the response from the manufacture, which I hope is a positive experience, I will recommend this cold frame for the casual Gardner.
